There are certain people, especially on DL but also in the real world, that have an irrational hate for others that are successful or that get recognition for their achievements. Patrick Mahomes, by all indications, seems to be pretty level-headed, generous, humble, etc. There really is no logical explanation for hating him other than resenting his success.

There has to be a better way to end a tied playoff game. Both sides deserve a chance to score.

Yep, that OT rule is dumb. In 2019, KC was on the losing side of the coin flip and ended up being eliminated as the Patriots scored on their first OT possession. But everyone knows that's the rule going into the game. Hopefully they will revisit it and make OT more equitable for each team.

The OT rule used to be both teams got a possession. If no one scored, the first team to score wins the game. It was much more equitable but, I assume, the rule was changed to reduce the OT time. There could be several downs for each possession.

I don't think there would be a concern about playoff games going too long. Quite the opposite. My guess that after the playoffs this year there will be some interest in changing the rules again. College football's overtime rules make sense. Each team gets a possession at the 25 yard line. Your keep trading off turns until a team doesn't score, or scores less (a FG not a TD) than the opponent. This would be closest to the soccer penalty shoot out.

No, those games ended in ties because nobody scored—period—in the OT allotment of 10 minutes.

Here’s the basic rules for OT in the NFL:

Whoever wins the coin toss gets the choice of whether they want to receive the ball or give it to the other team. (Obviously, you want to receive.)

Once the ball is kicked to you, if you score a touchdown, the game is over.

If you only score a Field Goal, the other team has the opportunity to possess the ball. If they don’t score, or if they score a touchdown, the game is over. If they kick a field goal and tie it up again, the next score wins, unless time runs out, then it ends in a tie. (Not possible for playoffs.)

The rules were changed a few years back because whoever won the luck of the coin toss had a tremendous advantage in that all they had to do was get close enough to kick a field goal and the game would be over. Now, if only a field goal is scored, the other team takes possession.
