Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) (1970) by Edison Lighthouse

Anyone else love this perfect pop song? What an amazing bop! But why was this their sole hit? Supposedly they only existed in the studio and for videos here and there but didn’t do live performances? Interesting.

The lead was cute!

[quote]but didn’t do live performances

Because it was a fake group? Just studio musicians?

Love it. Fab silly song.

There were a few "fake" groups during that time.

Most old people know The Archies were a studio band, but the lead singer, Ron Dante, also did other stuff, including this big hit that I linked that was made by "The Cufflinks" - a non-existent band for which Dante recorded all of the vocals. A sort of fake band was created afterward, during which they had a minor follow-up hit. Somewhere on Youtube is an old vid of The Cufflinks performing "Tracy" - and for some strange reason the guy singing (lip syncing actually) isn't even Dante.

I hold OP personally responsible for "Rosemary" currently occupying the #59 spot on the iTunes Top 100 chart.

This was the original singer - he sang lead on several hits that were in the chart at that same time.

check out the VERY tight trousers on some of the other players

Love that song. Used at end of Shallow Hal. They probably named Gwyneth's character Rosemary so they could have this pop gem over the final crane shot/closing credits

There were a lot of these kinds of songs in the British charts 1968-71

this one's even better
