They are not destroying - they have destroyed American democracy.
There's no turning back for the Republican Party now. They can only keep doubling down.

What he did is a crime. Why is this fucker not ALREADY in jail?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 14, 2022 6:14 PM |
And why is the Republican Party supporting him? A blatant and known criminal?
How can the GOP ever return to democracy?

“Democracy” has now become “racist” - overused and now meaningless. Buzzwords like “queer”.

If the GOP does survive it will only be at the cost of democracy. Which means that there will be one party rule and the Democratic Party will disappear. I give this ten years, tops.

If Obama had spent any of his political capital to fight for Democrats in state legislature, we’d be in better shape today. It’s not all his fault but he didn’t help. Republicans vote in every election no matter how unimportant. Democrats vote when they feel like it. Until that changes. We’re screwed.

Voter suppression and gerrymandering aren’t new. The biggest voter suppression was in the South during segregation. Of course the south was 100% Democratic then. It’s not like political parties haven’t tried to disenfranchise the opposition for years. It’s just that Republicans have taken over now and Democrats don’t seem as savvy opposing it.

We know what’s happening. How do we stop it? If folks don’t vote to keep these people out of state government, we get what we deserve.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 15, 2022 12:25 PM |
But voting itself is being tampered with.

Will there even be elections in ten years or will they be largely ceremonial, with a pre-determined GOP victor already the “winner”? How does that effect the whole multi-year media-produced election commentary industrial complex? If everyone already knows everything is rigged, how would the “media” continue to exist?
It seem less like Big Media would not like an emerging authoritarian state, no matter how much they’ve done to bring us to this place.

*It seems like
Like, what would the Laura Ingraham (or whatever Nazi cùnt they have stationed at the Fox News talking head of 2032) rail against during her talk show if there is literally a tooth-less, powerless Democratic Party? I don’t see how authoritarianism fits into the larger media model.

Shithole China and Russia must be laughing thier fat arses off right now.

If a Democrat wins...they will find a way to overturn the votes. repubs are in it for the long haul. I feel helpless and without hope.

The repeal of the 1965 Voters Act was the nail in the coffin of American Democracy. You're welcome.

Don't forget about me...Citizens United. Another you're welcome.

Meanwhile, according to Gallup, more Americans now identify as Republicans than Democrats. First time since 1995.

[Quote] how would the “media” continue to exist?
Media will be 100% manufactured infotainment. All fun, all fake, all the time.

It's pretty much like that now..^^ This morning, on a morning NYC news station....the anchors kept going on and on about the return of another anchor, who was out on maternity leave. It was nauseating. There's no professionalism anymore.
