Tasteful friends: a 3-bedroom, 4000 sq ft London flat with a view, £17M

Southbank Place, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 looks from the exterior a nice enough commercial office building for the periphery of a city, any large city, and the interior bears some of the same marks though that double height space of 900+ square feet makes up for everything, and the views through the London Eye and across the Thames are not bad either. It's a flashy, corporate looking place, but I could forgive all for the view.

And to a different listing for a different unit I assume (reusing the same photos as the other) with the same plan but with a fourth bedroom squeezed in. The three-bedroom plan above is the better.

We have no desire to have street trash on a whirlygig staring at us in our salon, OP. How very dare you. I’d add an exclamation mark if it wasn’t so unbecoming.

Does one still need a place in the city when one has business there?

by Anonymousreply 4January 13, 2022 12:16 PM

Even the floor plans look like they're for an office, not a home.

This looks more like a hotel suite than anything I've seen to day on "Tasteful Friends"

Plus the Eye right outside your window. Even though you know they can't really see in, it's still unpleasant.

No one with £17m to spend on an apartment will buy in the SE1 postcode. Sure it’s great with the Southbank, the Tate Modern and everything, but it’s also very rough around the edges with plenty of council estates around. This is why the ultra expensive flats on top of the Shard had still not sold, years after completion.

Someone with this money will rather go to Chelsea, South Kensington, Mayfair, etc. To be among their peers, in an ultra-sanitised and luxurious version of London where poverty, and even the middle class, doesn’t exist.

I hate London!!

Who the fuck wants their million-dollar view obstructed by that eyesore? Are they joking? And the poster who said it looked like a hotel suite was spot on. Perhaps it can be purchased as an investment property for worldwide royals when they come to visit London...

Good to see that this sort of nonsense isn't confined to San Jose.

Needs a camel, some gilding and heavy gold drapes to attract its target market.

by Anonymousreply 12January 13, 2022 1:03 PM

The Eye will go sooner rather than later. It isn't built to be permanent.

Great. And when the hurricane comes that blows it over, hopefully it won't fall on your 17 million pound condo
