Yeah saw it over the weekend. 3 episodes was nice.

Then I watched the Sons of Sam one. Boy talk about feeling like it would never end.

by Anonymousreply 1January 11, 2022 8:13 PM

I watched it. Give it a C. I found it padded and even the interesting content wasn't delivered with much pizzaz.

by Anonymousreply 2January 11, 2022 8:14 PM

Saw it a couple weeks ago. I've visited NY a few times over the past 25 years, and can't believe how sleazy Times Square was.

by Anonymousreply 3January 11, 2022 8:18 PM

I would have liked to see more about the sleazy side of Times Square

by Anonymousreply 4January 11, 2022 8:20 PM

I loved the ambiance. Used to go to the tranny clubs and bars, just for the ambiance. Also Escuelita had hot masc guys, too.

by Anonymousreply 5January 11, 2022 8:22 PM

Whenever they show Times Square sleaze, it's never the gay sleaze. I want to see more 70's gay sleaze!

by Anonymousreply 6January 11, 2022 8:22 PM

There are some 70s early 80s pornos with the gay sleaze ambiance. But they are artistic statements so you have to look around the presentation to get a sense of it.

by Anonymousreply 7January 11, 2022 8:26 PM

I agree @R6 That’s what it was missing. There is a good book written by a hustler about his time in Times Square in the 60s

by Anonymousreply 8January 11, 2022 8:26 PM

You can start with Times Square Strop (1982)

When I first came to NYC it was 1992.

Time Square was still a run down XXX theme park.

I missed the 70s/80s but it was still a gorgeous mess. Nathans' after clubbing was a trip.

I've never seen it captured on film as I experienced it.

The adult performers interviewed should've shown some half naked pics of them younger. Wanted to see them in their glory years

by Anonymousreply 12January 11, 2022 8:40 PM

Also in the 80s I partied in Hamburg and The Reeperbahn gave Times Square a run for its money for all around sleaze and also gay fun.

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2022 8:44 PM

I was in Times Square in the late 70s and my god but sex was everywhere. I had a 14 hour layover and spent most of it flitting around sucking and fucking ! I almost missed the train becaus I was having too good a time.

by Anonymousreply 14January 11, 2022 8:59 PM

Do any sleazy places like this still exist anywhere?

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2022 9:00 PM

Yeah but delicate rightwing snowflakes are squealing that NYC is a hellhole today, lol.

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2022 9:25 PM

I'm afraid to ask why he was called the torso killer.

by Anonymousreply 20January 12, 2022 2:15 AM

Pretty much what you think r20, but he didn't do it with all his victims.

by Anonymousreply 21January 12, 2022 2:40 AM

His first two victims were found decapitated and with their hands cut off

Gotta love my parents. Grew up in lovely safe Long Island. I was a Movie/Broadway obsessed kid, and I'm talking like 10 years old, laying on the den floor every Sunday devoting the movie sections of The Times, Daily news, etc. For my birthday, on the nearest gorgeous sunny June Saturday, morning we would all pile into the car, and would park on the roof top Port Authority Bus Terminal at 42nd and 8th Ave. No exaggeration, we would go up and down each street, yes including The Deuce, visiting every movie theater and Broadway show all the way up to The Broadway Theater. I was oblivious to all the sleaze, it was Broadway! Movie Theaters with boxes out front showing the trailer on a loop! You could stand outside a movie theater and actually watch a the movie playing right there! Very cool for a kid. Alas it all ended the day my Mom's purse was stolen at lunch in a restaurant up on Broadway.

Do the Have Doe was never identified? Sad that some young girl did do tragically and no one can properly mourn her cause they don't know who she is.

by Anonymousreply 25January 12, 2022 3:38 AM

Jane* Doe

by Anonymousreply 26January 12, 2022 3:39 AM

R26 - that's the only issue you see with your typing at R25?

by Anonymousreply 27January 12, 2022 8:07 AM

It's the autocorrect bitch r27. I meant to type:

"So the Jane Doe was never identified? Sad that some young girl died so tragically and no one can properly mourn her cause they don't know who she is."

I truly hate this fucking iPhone.
