Lawrence of Arabia 1962 Alternative Cast

Just for fun, I made an alternative cast to Lawrence of Arabia. Most of the cast was the first choice. Just imagine.

Lawrence- Albert Finney (Peter O'Toole)

Prince Faisal- Laurence Olivier (Alec Guinness)

Auda Abu Tayi- Michael Ansara (Anthony Quinn)

General Lord Edmund Allenby- Ralph Richardson (Jack Hawkins)

Sherif Ali- Horst Buchholz (Omar Sharif)

The Turkish Bey- Pedro Armendáriz (Jose Ferrer)

Colonel Harry Brighton- Dirk Bogarde (Anthony Quayle)

Mr. Dryden- Herbert Marshall (Mr. Claude Rains)

Jackson Bentley- Edmond O'Brien (Arthur Kennedy)

General Archibald Murray- Sir Donald Wolfit (You can't replace Sir Donald Wolfit)

How different of a movie would this be?

Stupid and pointless.

Sir Cedric Hardwicke as Mr. Dryden

by Anonymousreply 6June 11, 2022 12:29 AM

Claude Rains was bigger name than Hardwicke. Hardwicke played the star role in Caesar and Cleopatra on stage but the producers wanted a bigger name than Hardwicke to match up with Vivien Leigh.
