Where is the money coming from? Can you monetize the videos like YouTube. I’ve never seen an ad on TikTok.

by Anonymousreply 1January 11, 2022 12:51 AM

When you gain a certain amount of followers you can sign up to start getting paid. When your videos get likes and views you get paid, on top of brands paying you per post to promote their stuff etc. r1

Why do you think so many young people are becoming influencers full time as a career?

by Anonymousreply 2January 11, 2022 12:53 AM

Get paid by who? TikTok?

by Anonymousreply 3January 11, 2022 12:56 AM

R3 yes.

by Anonymousreply 4January 11, 2022 12:56 AM

Why would TikTok pay you for likes? The YouTube model I get. That makes sense. This doesn’t.

by Anonymousreply 5January 11, 2022 12:58 AM

TikTok makes a shit ton of money fool. They have almost 1 billion people on there.

by Anonymousreply 6January 11, 2022 12:59 AM

How does TikTok make money? Humor a stupid old person and explain it to me like I’m five. Where does the money come from?

by Anonymousreply 7January 11, 2022 1:02 AM

[quote]Last year, ByteDance's revenue more than doubled to US$34.3 billion but the company made an operating loss of US$2.1 billion, against a US$684 million operating profit in 2019.Nov 16, 2021

Nope- it's all of their deals and sponsorships, including Hulu shows for the demelios or whatever they're called. Read the fine print.

... I still hate our cultural moment.

by Anonymousreply 9January 11, 2022 1:04 AM

How do they make money if they don’t have ads? It’s not like people can monetize their videos with ads.

by Anonymousreply 10January 11, 2022 1:04 AM

R9 and how do you think they were able to get those expensive deals?

by Anonymousreply 11January 11, 2022 1:07 AM

It’s called the TikTok creator fund

But what does that have to do with how they’re paid on TikTok? Sure, they can leverage their TikTok fame to get Hulu shows like how Justin Bieber leveraged his YouTube fame for a record deal. But Bieber’s fortune is not paid for by YouTube. How do they make money on TikTok??

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2022 1:10 AM

Why do these fugly sluts do well? They aren’t pretty, funny or even interesting ? No talent is a given.

by Anonymousreply 14January 11, 2022 1:10 AM

R11, pimping themselves for pennies on TikTok. What's your point? Those numbers (which are likely lies, as we all learned from the previous, hilarious Kylie Jenner billionaire Forbes debacle) are not merely from ad payments from their TikTok videos. It's misleading.

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2022 1:11 AM

Honey. Not everything is a lie.

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2022 1:12 AM

R13, TikTok, YouTube etc sell ads and then pay content creators per ad that people view. Your subscriber count changes how much you make per ad and where you show up on search results.

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2022 1:13 AM

[quote] Nope- it's all of their deals and sponsorships, including Hulu shows for the demelios or whatever they're called.

So you’re basically saying TikTok is getting the short end of the stick here. They provide a free platform for people to get famous so they can broker deals with Hulu and Netflix or sell merchandise and TikTok doesn’t get a cut of anything since they’re doing all those things off the platform. What’s in it for TikTok?

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2022 1:16 AM

R18, THEY SELL ADS. Google sells ads. Datalounge sells ads. (Also, probably, all of our information.) And make billions.

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2022 1:19 AM

[quote] TikTok, YouTube etc sell ads and then pay content creators per ad that people view. Your subscriber count changes how much you make per ad and where you show up on search results.

I know YouTube sells ads and their payment system makes sense. You monetize your videos and get paid based on views. But TikTok doesn’t work like that. They don’t put ads in your 10 second TikTok videos.

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2022 1:20 AM

Addison Rae is a basic and a fatty.

by Anonymousreply 21January 11, 2022 1:20 AM

TikTok is owned by a Chinese company, ByteDance a private company. It lost $2.1B in 2020. $34B in revenue for the parent company, $9B from TikTok. From in app purchases largely, commissions from sales made on TikTok and ADS.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2022 1:26 AM

In app purchases? What could you buy on TikTok?

by Anonymousreply 23January 11, 2022 1:29 AM

All this bullshit selling your life with pretty pictures on social media is to SELL ADS (and apps to make the pictures prettier and crap to make your life look better on social media). WE are the billboards.

Soylent green is people.

by Anonymousreply 24January 11, 2022 1:29 AM

R23, filters, music, etc. Make the videos more effective advertisements.

Lol. Ok I'll stop. This is my field and I'm a little passionate. As always, I'll leave with: Levi Strauss won the gold rush.

by Anonymousreply 25January 11, 2022 1:31 AM

The D’Amelios look like trolls.

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2022 1:33 AM

20 YO Noah Beck literally travels all year long. How does he afford this with his fellow influencers? They make BANK off social media. He dates Dixie, who earned over $10 million last year.

Is that photo in OP 3 photos of 3 different women? Because they all look the same.

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2022 1:44 AM

Well, if they’re making that much, they might as well ride it for as long as they can. It doesn’t last forever, even if you’ve got a good thing. There’s always someone new and exciting nipping at your heels. How much is Logan Paul making now?

I still don’t understand it, but get money, Bitch.
