Do you think it's possible to create an ideal society?

And if so how would you do it?

by Anonymousreply 44January 12, 2022 7:51 AM

No.

See Russia, 1917.

by Anonymousreply 1January 10, 2022 10:50 PM

No judgement. Appreciate and accept diversity from the start. Let people walk their path instead of forcing them to live a life they haven't chosen for themselves.

by Anonymousreply 2January 10, 2022 10:51 PM

Only if you don’t have any people living there

by Anonymousreply 3January 10, 2022 10:53 PM

If anyone thinks an ideal society is actually possible they're dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 4January 10, 2022 11:05 PM

Yeah it was Hitler's idea, too, wasn't it?

by Anonymousreply 5January 10, 2022 11:07 PM

With females-only humans & animals, in a seperatist world or isolated self-sufficient colony, where we have self-fertilising capacities—yes.

Otherwise—no.

by Anonymousreply 6January 10, 2022 11:11 PM

No money, whatsoever.

The more awful the job, the more time off you get from the job. Everybody does what they love, or at least what they have an aptitude for, and everyone is equal.

by Anonymousreply 7January 10, 2022 11:41 PM

R7 if everyone does what they love who does the truly awful jobs?

by Anonymousreply 8January 10, 2022 11:58 PM

If Republicans all dropped dead, it’d at least be a much happier society.

by Anonymousreply 9January 10, 2022 11:59 PM

here is how I would do it. It would be a world where most of the work is done by robots and people who are qualified can manage the robots. At birth, you get a personal robot that works and get paid but the actual humans get the money. As the kid is growing up half the money gets put aside for a house or you could also do a credit system. every robot gets the same amount of money or credit. people could do professional jobs and everyone could do the jobs they like or have hobbies they like to do. the population would have to be controlled.

by Anonymousreply 10January 11, 2022 12:01 AM

People who value time off more than anything, R8 . I'm talking like getting 9 months off a year for the worst jobs.

by Anonymousreply 11January 11, 2022 12:02 AM

No.

by Anonymousreply 12January 11, 2022 12:04 AM

To quote Camille Paglia, if women ran the world, we'd all still be living in grass huts.

by Anonymousreply 13January 11, 2022 12:05 AM

If I were in charge, I would re-institute cat worship as was practised in Egypt for 3000 years.

I would ban smoking and killing animals for food.

Valuable occupations would be paid the most, eg firefighters, nurses, garbage collectors, and currently highly paid ones who contribute little eg celebrities, politicians, real estate agents, would be paid correspondingly less.

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2022 4:32 AM

No ownership of anything. People get a monthly allowance and have to work for that 80 hours per month. At community centers they can take courses that interest them to expand their horizon. They get only one identifiable internet account that works for everything (ordering food, managing their needs, social media, correspondence, membership admittance, media streaming, etc.).

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2022 4:41 AM

No, I've watched too many nature shows. Biological creatures are just too prone to sex and violence.

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2022 4:49 AM

How Platonic of you OP

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2022 5:02 AM

Lots of homosex. You suck dick three times a day, and take it up the ass ever Monday.

Everyone is 50 but looks 23. Like on here.

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2022 5:07 AM

R16 The sad thing is I think you are serious.

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2022 5:08 AM

The truth? I'm not interested in an ideal society. I think r17 is right.

by Anonymousreply 21January 11, 2022 5:08 AM

R16 was in Russia back in 1917.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2022 5:09 AM

As appealing as Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism might be, the sad reality is that within a generation, even an implementation that began perfectly would probably turn into a Dictatorship of Social Media Influencers, where mass public 'likes' give you power, and most people live in terror of being brigadged by organized cadres of non-likers who can beat them into ruined poverty within hours of some powerful virtual warlord getting mad at them.

Admit it, y'all know it's true. Somehow, inevitably, people will figure out how to game any system & pervert its ideals for their own personal advancement. At one extreme, you end up with a world run by warlords & organized crime cartels. At the other extreme, you have a world run by soulless, psychotic bureaucracies that indiscriminately crush everyone simply because it's how they end up.

In the Soviet Union, most of the bureaucrats enforcing groupthink and political orthodoxy didn't themselves like it, but because even the watchers were watched, it became a self-perpetuating feedback loop literally nobody could fix until the whole system collapsed.

Just like in here. An ever lovin' society of homos who all love each other and are ever so polite and knowledgeable.

let homos and women rule the world, kill all the straight men

by Anonymousreply 27January 11, 2022 10:32 AM

But I'm sure the Menstrual Huts would be quite well appointed and lovely, R13.

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2022 10:40 AM

R13 imagine....thinking Camille Paglia....has correct takes on society....

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2022 10:45 AM

Who’s idea of an ideal society would that be? It’s impossible and would be boring.

This site is the ideal society, OP. M'kay?

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2022 2:31 PM

R32 we’re not a society here; in fact, we’re barely even civilised. A veritable nest of VIPAHS!

by Anonymousreply 33January 11, 2022 3:43 PM

Datalounge is the perfect society!

Other than that the best we can do is manage things, allowing for improvement when possible, and prevent chaos.

Anyone trying to produce a "perfect society" is very dangerous and will end up doing much harm if they get into power.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2022 3:49 PM

R16 What news of Stalingrad?

by Anonymousreply 35January 11, 2022 3:49 PM

Yes, R35, that ideal society definitely has some Gulags in its future.

by Anonymousreply 36January 11, 2022 3:54 PM

in a small community

or at the airport, sure.

by Anonymousreply 37January 11, 2022 4:01 PM

Finland seems to win 'Happiest Country in The World' most years,

The main thing that the top 10 have in common is a population of between 5-10 million, the Netherlands the only exception with 17 million.

Too many people seems to contribute to misery.

Reminds me of work these days with all the "inclusive" language and related HR bullshit. If you dare make a joke or question some of the rules, you are a criminal. The HR thought police will be on your back right away. Worse, even though most don't care or even hate it, managers feel compelled to compete as ambassadors of the so-called "inclusive" values, which feeds the self-perpertuaring cycle.

by Anonymousreply 42January 12, 2022 4:42 AM

I would round up all the Kardashians, real housewives, and wonky eyed Andy Cohen and have them shipped to the moon. Then and only then can the healing begin.

by Anonymousreply 43January 12, 2022 4:50 AM

r42, exactly. Hypocrisy, corruption, and little white lies are like inflation... bad in large quantities, but an essential safety valve & circuit breaker in moderation that prevent the total dysfunctional breakdown of society when stupid, mindless, bureaucratic rule-enforcement goes off the deep end.
