David Pakman BANNED From Facebook!

For coverage of anti-vaxxers Alex Jones, Ted Cruz, etc. How rude!

Aww I'm sure he'll regain his access. I like David Pakman. I think he and Shawn Mendes look alike.

by Anonymousreply 1January 10, 2022 9:02 PM

This comes as quite a surprise, as Pakman has been almost obsessed with taking anti-vaxxers to task. He at times even begins to annoy me how much attention he devotes to it. Though I'm still a fan, and think he's one of the dreamiest nerds I tend to love, he has been increasingly more callous, and divisive. I don't particularly care for anyone articulating "they deserve to die, or they don't deserve medical treatment and/or insurance. Sorry, but going so far repeatedly makes me wince for our collective humanity.

Perhaps this is partly the reason? I cannot say, as I don't use FB, Twitter, or the like. There certainly are bugs to be worked out with these platforms' programmes, whether it is the prohibition of certain banned words, or an algorithm to detect anti-vax misinformation. Clearly he isn't guilty of any of that. All to often people sharing posts, to make an example of someone, or making similar social commentaries are being lumped in with the bad actors. The censorship being witnessed across these platforms isn't always an intentional act by human moderators.

by Anonymousreply 2January 10, 2022 9:25 PM

Get it together, Facebook.

by Anonymousreply 3January 10, 2022 9:39 PM

He's Canadian, so why does he care so much about American politics? He covers more US politics then he does Canadian politics etc.

by Anonymousreply 4January 10, 2022 9:59 PM

R4 Definitely not Canadian! He was born in Argentina, and came to the US quite young. I believe seven or eight years-old. He is an American citizen.

by Anonymousreply 5January 10, 2022 10:08 PM

Pakman Fever!

by Anonymousreply 6January 10, 2022 10:09 PM

Why exactly was he banned? I'm not watching a youtube video to find out.

by Anonymousreply 7January 10, 2022 10:10 PM

R5 Yeah, I think that's it. I knew he wasn't originally from America though.

by Anonymousreply 8January 10, 2022 10:11 PM

R6 When Pakman speaks his Argentine Spanish, I melt, regardless of what he's talking about.

by Anonymousreply 9January 10, 2022 11:06 PM

His video won't load for me. But this is BS. He's not spewing anti vaxxer misinformation. He's nowhere near the likes of Alex Jones or tRump or MTG...

by Anonymousreply 10January 10, 2022 11:10 PM

R10 He's merely exposing their absurdity, and making sport of them. The FB censorship algorithms cannot make the distinction however.

by Anonymousreply 11January 10, 2022 11:15 PM

Is there a Ms. Pakman?

by Anonymousreply 12January 10, 2022 11:22 PM

R12 No, not yet... He has a girlfriend who happens to be from a very Christian, American anti-vaxx family however. Could explain his devotion to some of his screeds.

by Anonymousreply 13January 10, 2022 11:33 PM

I want him to be gay, so I might have a chance. Lol.

He’s a doll, engaging and intelligent. As far as I’m concerned, he can trash these anti-vax, fucking murderers all he wants. The anti-vax girlfriend’s parents are red flags who should be avoided, or treated with suspicion.

by Anonymousreply 14January 11, 2022 12:41 AM

R14 I don't believe Pak said it was the girl's parents, only that they had many Trump-loving antivax members in the family. Still sounds dreadful, nevertheless. He did sort of make out that they seem like rednecks, for lack of a better word.

I would love him even more if he were gay. I suppose we can still enjoy our fantasies however! 🥰

by Anonymousreply 15January 11, 2022 12:45 AM

He is not gay, but he is a very nice guy (as is his gf).

by Anonymousreply 16January 11, 2022 12:48 AM

[quote]He's Canadian, so why does he care so much about American politics? He covers more US politics then he does Canadian politics etc.

You're thinking about cutiepie David Doel

by Anonymousreply 17January 11, 2022 12:52 AM

David is NOT anti Vax he’s had his. I can’t remember the video when he was going on about Alex Jones, but of late he has to say ‘allegedly’ a lot ‘cos he’s been forgetting. Maybe he forgot to say allegedly with regard to A J. Who knows. He is a socialist democrat as he explained in a recent video to a caller.

by Anonymousreply 18January 11, 2022 1:04 AM

He’s gay. He has to be gay!! He JUST HAS TO BE GAY!!!

by Anonymousreply 19January 11, 2022 1:04 AM

^shout it louder he might hear you!

by Anonymousreply 20January 11, 2022 1:12 AM

He actually just had a baby recently. So no, he's not a gay boy.

by Anonymousreply 21January 11, 2022 2:16 AM

I thought it was clap your hands.

by Anonymousreply 22January 11, 2022 2:20 AM

I know it’s not click your heels together three times.

by Anonymousreply 23January 11, 2022 2:22 AM

I think he’s very short too.

by Anonymousreply 24January 11, 2022 9:52 AM

It strains credulity that there are even 20 ppl on datalounge who care about this Twitter nobody.

by Anonymousreply 25January 11, 2022 10:13 AM

r25 slow your roll, old man. Pakman is one of the top left leaning people on youtube. He's very good at explaining politics and the day's political news for those who don't know that much but want to learn more. He's very down the middle and non-sensational. Has nearly 1.5 million subscribers. (um, you know that not all platforms are twitter right? or is that how like my grandmother called any video game systems Nintendo?)

I watch sometimes. For anyone else that watches, is it me or does he have absolutely no sense of humor. He never cracks a joke, rarely smiles, don't think I've ever heard him laugh.

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2022 11:41 AM

I'm finally getting the video to work. He mentions he got temporarily banned from MONETIZING his videos on Facebook for 90 days, not banned from posting there at all. He's just not going to get ad revenue from his videos for 90 days. Youtube does the same thing to it's publishers if their algorithms find something they deem offensive, they will demonitize specific videos. You've got to be really careful what you say on there otherwise it will trigger it.

This is not the same as people like tRump who got banned from posting there all together.

by Anonymousreply 27January 11, 2022 2:56 PM

R25 He's a podcaster, as well as a professor. I doubt he is well known for his tweets, unless his admirers want to check him out shirtless on vacation, etc. He's a gentleman when he debates even the most insulting and daft opponents. People admire his coolness, and powers of reasoning (in addition to his being completely adorkable).

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2022 6:27 PM

For anyone who is more aligned with watching Pakman as opposed to say, The Young Turks, I suggest watching The Majority Report with Sam Seder.

Sam is a comedian/writer who was on Air America and as a wry sense of humor but the show has co-hosts who are more liberal and younger than him and it makes for more interesting viewing on the same subjects. Pakman and Seder got into a scuffle last year when Pakman got outraged over some jokey comment Seder made about him. It wasn't a big deal but Pakman had no concept of the humor involved which is when I realized I had never heard him crack a joke, laugh, or smile. He would have made a good news anchor.

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2022 9:25 PM

Pakman has very beautiful and large hands.

by Anonymousreply 30January 11, 2022 9:40 PM

"He's Canadian, so why does he care so much about American politics? He covers more US politics then he does Canadian politics etc."

Canadians have a vested interest in US politics because it directly effects them. They are concerned about what would happen if we fell under authoritarian rule. How would you like having a reasonable neighbor go Neo-Nazi overnight?

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2022 9:52 PM

R30 He has great hair as well. I would relish the opportunity to muss it up.

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2022 9:58 PM

^maybe even pull it just a bit, ever so gently of course...
