Maskless AOC Caught Partying In Florida, DeSantis Responds

by Anonymousreply 18January 10, 2022 12:19 AM

You’re not obligated to wear masks outdoors, NYC isn’t in lockdown and hasn’t been for many months. Hanging out in that crowded outdoor bar was a bit of a mistake.

by Anonymousreply 19January 10, 2022 12:27 AM

most likely mild symptoms. She is not gonna die or hospitalized . Calm down, right wring trolls

by Anonymousreply 20January 10, 2022 12:29 AM

Of course I'm sorry she's got COVID. Who did she infect after catching it and not wearing a mask before the symptoms started, is what signifies.

by Anonymousreply 21January 10, 2022 12:31 AM

Who really wears a mask outdoors? Barely anyone at this point, they aren't required by any state as far as I know.

by Anonymousreply 22January 10, 2022 12:31 AM

R22 People here in Los Angeles are now walking around quiet neighborhoods all by themselves, wearing N95s. I shit you not.

by Anonymousreply 23January 10, 2022 12:33 AM

R23, when FDR said the only thing we have to fear is fear itself, he was talking about those people.

by Anonymousreply 24January 10, 2022 12:41 AM

We are in NYC now and they are not playing!. We have to provide CDC covid cards and ID to enter everywhere. So far, Covid carded/ID at Carnegie Hall, Japanese restaurants and bookstore, hotel - even Olive Garden lol. I am glad!!👍At least they are filtering!

by Anonymousreply 25January 10, 2022 12:54 AM

Yes NY places have been checking vaccine status for a while now r25.

And why were you at Olive Garden...?

by Anonymousreply 26January 10, 2022 12:56 AM

There is nothing wrong with the "better safe than sorry" approach of people wearing a mask outdoors, too. Most of the safety measures are for the individual's benefit to feel safe and doing his part during a pandemic.

It's not about fear, but to give people tools to make them feel safe during a crisis. Cynics may call the safety protocols glorified pacifiers, but as a society and community we need to get down to basics of not letting fear, chaos, panic and uncertainty make things worse (which is totally what the right wing is doing since day one of the pandemic).

Do people still get sick despite vaccines and booster shots? Very likely. But as long as the media helps to point out that it hits the unvaccinated much more and much harder, it helps to understand that the risk of dying from COVID is much lower with vaccines than without.

by Anonymousreply 27January 10, 2022 1:05 AM

by Anonymousreply 40January 10, 2022 2:07 AM

AOC isn't the only hypocrite

California Democrat Eric Swalwell was seen maskless while vacationing in restriction-free Florida on Tuesday, just days after blaming Republicans for 'canceled vacations' and 'prolonging' the pandemic

The 41-year-old congressman, who represents parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, is seen in exclusive DailyMail.com photos chatting with a friend in the lobby of Loews Miami Beach Hotel with his infant son

Swalwell has been a huge proponent of vaccine and mask mandates - something that Florida has refused to implement despite rising coronavirus cases

On Friday, Swalwell doubled down on his support for covid-related mandates firing off a scathing tweet accusing Republicans of prolonging the 'deadly pandemic'

'Republican liars. Your vacation cancelled. Your kids back to virtual learning. And back to masks everywhere. For blame look no farther than #theseguys,' he said in a tweet

by Anonymousreply 44January 10, 2022 2:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 47January 10, 2022 2:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 82January 10, 2022 2:01 PM

With omicron you need to wear a mask outside dancing in a huge crowd of people in Florida. It’s incredibly contagious - she was packed in with people - I remember seeing the photos and thinking oh she will get covid.

I’m neutral about AOC and hope she’s fine and all that blah blah blah - but it’s surprising to me that so many of you are acting like masks aren’t necessary in packed crowds outside with omicron? I live in NYC and don’t mask if I’m on the street and I can keep a distance from people, but if I were to go to a packed dance party in Times Square (the horror can you imagine), I would put a fucking mask on. Or expect to get covid.

It’s not a moral judgment one way or the other - it’s just how contagious this variant is.

by Anonymousreply 83January 10, 2022 2:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 91January 10, 2022 3:15 PM

I wish someone would explain the hate some people have for her that's more than "She's annoying." That's just not satisfactory for the rage she seems to inspire.

by Anonymousreply 92January 10, 2022 3:17 PM

She’s a Trump of the left. Both are charismatic, extremely effective, know how to work the emotions of their base, combative, and therefore highly polarizing. If Trump makes you incandescent with rage, understand that’s how the other side feels about her. And they can’t understand why you like her.

by Anonymousreply 93January 10, 2022 3:25 PM

R92, Rightwingers hate her because they only have trolling and sticking it to the libs and she is a master troller. They will never be as good at it as she is. They also know she is right, which pisses them off. Then there is the whole I WANNA RAPE HER LOUD MOUTH! feeling she inspires. Aaaand she's "brown" even if she is lighter than most of them. Plus, she's smart and actually worked her way up. Few of theirs have. Then, they finally realized that Hillary and Nancy are getting up there in age. They need another woman to irrationally hate. Hate is their hobby. It outweighs their need for healthcare, help or anything else.

by Anonymousreply 94January 10, 2022 3:32 PM

The interesting thing is that the Right can't decide how to hate her.

Either she's a silly dilettante (they call her Sandy, for some reason) who is secretly a rich girl (like Ivanka?) or something and is basically an ineffective bubblehead.

Or she's this terrifying Stalin/Madame DeFarge figure who is conspiring with George Soros and Pelosi and (why not) Hillary to take away everyone's guns and herd all conservatives into camps.

It's weird.

by Anonymousreply 95January 10, 2022 3:49 PM

Saying she's annoying doesn't so8nd like hate to me. You're pretty thin skinned.

She's annoying like every young person who thinks they know more than anyone else and they constantly prove they don't.

She's a show and she loves every minute of it.

by Anonymousreply 102January 10, 2022 4:11 PM

It's got nothing to do with the thickness of my skin. She's in the crosshairs of a lucrative, violent and hugely overblown hate-campaign from the Right.

The hate piled on top of her is all out of proportion to her provocations. She's got a mouth, sure, but not that much power so it's just weird that she's become this Devil figure.

R103 Fuck AOC.

She was the only politician I can think of who said she thought she was going to be raped and murdered during the Insurrection and she wasn’t even in the Capitol when shit was going down.

Saying guys want to fuck her and all this stuff. She got called out for the maskless parties in Florida and started throwing LGBTQIAA+2 and POC into the arguments. Pulling victim cards she doesn’t have. She is very much apart of the “woke liberal mob” people on the right and left complain about.

And she’s just being a hypocrite. The fact that she went partying without a mask in Florida of all places exposes that. If she was in Boston or I don’t know, Atlanta or somewhere, I could see a debate.

But she behaved like a right wing Trumper partying and caught Covid like one too.

by Anonymousreply 108January 10, 2022 4:34 PM

Why is being in Florida so bad? Because Ron DeSantis sucks? So liberals can't visit states who's governors they dont like? I guess Republicans can't visit Disneyland?

by Anonymousreply 109January 10, 2022 4:36 PM

Why is Atlanta better than Miami? Doesn't Georgia have a shitty Republican governor too? What a weird, scattershot argument.

by Anonymousreply 126January 10, 2022 5:24 PM

R125, but they're not the majority bringing hospitals to the breaking point - that's what you hear from staff themselves.

by Anonymousreply 127January 10, 2022 5:25 PM

Sorry, meant for 126 obviously

by Anonymousreply 128January 10, 2022 5:25 PM

It's strange how come I, a centrist Democrat, would never dream of spending my money in a state like Florida, but AOC doubled down on her decision to visit there. She's a 3rd rate fraud, just like every other NYC politician.

by Anonymousreply 129January 10, 2022 5:39 PM

I hope the drag brunch was worth it. Who was performing? Any RPDR alumni?

by Anonymousreply 130January 10, 2022 5:47 PM

Her mom lives in Florida.

by Anonymousreply 131January 10, 2022 5:52 PM

Is superspreader AOC's mom a drag queen ?

by Anonymousreply 132January 10, 2022 5:52 PM

So AOC spreads lies and covid. Anything else?

by Anonymousreply 133January 10, 2022 5:55 PM

r120 is also:

by Anonymousreply 134January 10, 2022 5:55 PM

r120 is also:

[quote]So AOC spreads lies and covid. Anything else?

by Anonymousreply 135January 10, 2022 5:57 PM

Nothing like an AOC thread to bring out the trolls.

by Anonymousreply 136January 10, 2022 5:58 PM

Yeah, R134. That's what these psychos do now. They ignore the actual anti-semites within the right-wing because they're all up Israel's ass. White supremacists like Bannon and Richard Spencer love Israel because it's how they want the US to be run and they are in fact aligned with Zionists.

AOC questions Israel's policies and the money the US gives to facilitate those policies and these assholes call it "hating Jews" No other foreign country gets as much blind support and money as that one and we're just supposed to keep silent out of fear of being accused of "hating Jews."

by Anonymousreply 137January 10, 2022 6:01 PM

AOC, like Nancy, and Joe are "Do as I say, not as I do" To compliment Covid, hope "All Out Crazy" has an STD.

by Anonymousreply 138January 10, 2022 6:02 PM

Your one post, r138?

by Anonymousreply 139January 10, 2022 6:04 PM

Well. I think it's pretty clear that Covid wanted to "date her, or whatever."

by Anonymousreply 140January 10, 2022 6:12 PM

COVID-19 is here to stay and it’ll be like the flu and most of us will eventually get it. Severity of illness is dependent upon factors such as strain of the virus, virulence/ pathogenicity, individual health status, and vaccination status just like the flu. This is what most ID specialists are thinking, based upon known facts and current projections.

COVID-19 virulence isn’t associated with high mortality and that’s the issue here. COVID-19 has a low case fatality rate (CFR) and mortality risk as compared to other, recent viruses such as SARS-CoV (10%) and Ebola (40-50%). We’ve gained better understanding of this novel virus, and the most current CFR is also the most reliable so far; we can’t compare scientific guesses at the start of pandemic to current knowledge.

Right now, CFR with Omicron figured into equation is around 0.2%. In other words, for every 1000 infected individuals, 2 will die from it. This is similar to that of the seasonal flu. It’s an overall rate and doesn’t account for age and health status of population groups. For instance the under-50 group will have significantly lower CFR than over-50 group, and those with existing health conditions/ risks such as obesity, comorbidities will have higher CFR as well.

This is where public health message should be better, so that Trumptards and antivaxxers of all political leanings, and anti-science doomsayers who want shutdowns, can get the message loud and clear. Message should be: COVID-19 is not a deadly virus if we all get vaccinated (those who can) and take recommended precautions. These are mitigating strategies with goals of limiting and preventing overcrowding of inpatient beds in hospitals, NOT because COVID-19 is so deadly and if you get it you’ll die.

The latter is partly what’s causing antivaxxers and Trumptards to not adhere to vaccines and mitigation recommendations. I guarantee you if COVID-19 is as virulent as Ebola or as contagious as measles (one of the most contagious viruses in existence), almost everyone would be vaccinated, including the aforementioned morons.

Can’t stand AOC but not wearing masks outdoors isn’t the problem here; masking outdoors is not mandated. I personally don’t mask outdoors unless it’s a situation where it’s a confined outdoors space shoulder-shoulder with a lot of people. I also don’t go overboard and wear N-95 masks indoors when I’m seeing patients or outdoors walking. Anyway, her problem is that she committed the sin that most politicians commit: hypocrisy.

by Anonymousreply 141January 10, 2022 6:16 PM

R122 when I look at AOC I see a human turning into a monkey

by Anonymousreply 142January 10, 2022 6:27 PM

That's what the trollop gets for going barefoot in Miami!

by Anonymousreply 143January 10, 2022 6:28 PM

Let me guess: She's going to accuse COVID of being obsessed with the idea of raping her.

by Anonymousreply 144January 10, 2022 6:31 PM

r144 is:

by Anonymousreply 145January 10, 2022 6:36 PM

I'm also R88.

And I know this might surprise people to hear, but many centrists, who AOC continually demonizes, don't like her.

I should know better than to placate psychos like R145, but I'm curious about their logic. Both of the major parties in the US have their extremists. I expect moderate Republicans to speak out when pieces of shit like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan say crazy things. Why is it so shocking moderate Democrats have an issue with far left Democrats?

by Anonymousreply 146January 10, 2022 6:50 PM

I don’t care for AOC but she isn’t an antivaxxer loon and doesn’t deserve the hate being hurled at her for being human that said she should not have gone out partying maskless.

The thing about Florida is that the people who come here to visit have a huge sense of entitlement because they can afford to be here and want to show off on social media so all caution is thrown to the wind while they are here.

by Anonymousreply 147January 10, 2022 6:51 PM

Yes, why didn't she stay in safe, warm, Covid-free New York City?

by Anonymousreply 148January 10, 2022 6:59 PM

Acquiring it by partying in Florida is a bad look. If she had gotten it in the House of Reps, well, that's another thing.

by Anonymousreply 149January 10, 2022 7:04 PM

Socks with flip-flops is a bad look. She just got a virus.

by Anonymousreply 150January 10, 2022 7:05 PM

I'd love to see a real American like Sarah Palin wipe the floor with this commie AOC. Sarah is much hotter too.

by Anonymousreply 151January 10, 2022 7:08 PM

R151 Sarah is an illiterate, white trash cunt. AOC may be obnoxious hipster nonsense, but she has more brains in her library card than Palin has in her entire gene pool.

by Anonymousreply 152January 10, 2022 7:09 PM

South Florida is full of reitrees from NYC (many Jewish.) It's only a 2 hour flight from NYC to Miami so it's a great short vacation. The people in the areas where New Yorkers visit share their politics. It's not like they visit the areas that are full of hillbillies.

by Anonymousreply 153January 10, 2022 7:15 PM

Keep watching CNN, r152, and follow their little narrative like the good little sheep you are.

by Anonymousreply 154January 10, 2022 7:16 PM

She's no Elizabeth Warren.

by Anonymousreply 155January 10, 2022 7:16 PM

It's so weird the way right-wing loonies identify people by cable news networks. As if it was an identity. As if being able to see that Palin is a dum-dum and AOC is not requires watching CNN.

by Anonymousreply 156January 10, 2022 7:21 PM

R146, and that is why some "moderate Dems" are bigger douchebags than any Republican. MTG is not the counter to AOC. Trump won, because people like you have set the bar so low for the Republicans and set it so high for progressives with whom you disagree, that you think a complete lunatic whose campaign ad features holding an assault weapon to the heads of her colleagues is the same as someone pushing the The Green New Deal.

Despite your own personal blind hatred for certain Democratic women (I can guess why), they are not the other side of the same coin where people like Boebert and her blatant bigotry and violent rhetoric reside.

by Anonymousreply 157January 10, 2022 7:21 PM

r146 = Joe Manchin

by Anonymousreply 158January 10, 2022 7:22 PM

AOC is a polarizing figure. Her grand ambition is to be president, but no moderate dem in their right mind would vote for her. Perhaps she can grab hold of some office in one of the mooselimb countries. She seems to love them and vice versa.

by Anonymousreply 159January 10, 2022 7:25 PM

R152 what would AOC need with a library card? She can't read!

by Anonymousreply 160January 10, 2022 7:40 PM

It's interesting how the fact of Republican insanity and bad-faith is so widely accepted that anyone to the left of Joe Manchin must be *equally insane, just to make people feel better.

The fact that AOC is *not insane (liberal, sure, but she isn't blowing up cars marked "capitalism" in her TV ads) doesn't matter. She has to be painted as such or else Moderates get the willies.

by Anonymousreply 161January 10, 2022 7:41 PM

AODD sounds like a 15-year with arrested development.

by Anonymousreply 162January 10, 2022 7:49 PM

R161 I disagree. Her behavior has been completely neurotic. Saying she was going to be raped and murdered at the Insurrection in another building is pretty bad shit to me.

And the fact that she went and partied in Florida mask free shows she might be a total phony.

Like what radical left socialist liberal would go party in Miami with the omicron surge? Lol. A fake one if you ask me.

by Anonymousreply 163January 10, 2022 7:51 PM

She's cray! cray!

by Anonymousreply 166January 10, 2022 8:01 PM

If you listen to her, she makes more sense than not.

But she's overexposed (mostly not her fault) and so MARY! about everything (her fault.)

Half the problem progressives have getting their message is across is how they yap yap yap about it.

by Anonymousreply 167January 10, 2022 8:03 PM

What's her ethic background?

by Anonymousreply 168January 10, 2022 8:12 PM

R168 She’s Puerto Rican so that’s usually a mix of white, black, and some indigenous region of Central America.

by Anonymousreply 169January 10, 2022 8:18 PM

I’m not rejoicing in anyone getting COVID, but let’s be honest the media has been setting up any vaccinated pro-vaccine person who contracts it to get heckled because they keep running petty stories about anti-vaxxers who catch it.

by Anonymousreply 170January 10, 2022 8:22 PM

Why are the AOC bashing trolls always so puerile?

by Anonymousreply 171January 10, 2022 8:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 174January 10, 2022 9:54 PM

AOC is a hot mess.

She voted against the first big rescue bill under Trump to get cash to people and extend unemployment for one of her "strategic" reasons, then voted against the BID for different "strategic" reasons and voted against the Dem caucus 62 other times for, you guessed it, "strategic" reasons!

AOC is pretty useless as a legislator, but did find the time to go on Rupaul's Drag Race to inform the not so bright queens that Marsha P. Johnson "threw the first brick at Stonewall" which they ATE UP! She read that on Twitter I guess.

by Anonymousreply 175January 10, 2022 9:55 PM

Florida. It was that damn trip to Florida!

by Anonymousreply 176January 10, 2022 10:02 PM

Oh, r172, go back to making fun of Karen Carpenter.

by Anonymousreply 177January 10, 2022 10:14 PM

Off-topic, but anyone remember back in the post 9/11 days the homeland security head, Tom Ridge, suggested people might want to consider going out and buying plastic and duct tape so you could tape up your doors and windows in the event of a biological attack? I swear he said that.

by Anonymousreply 183January 10, 2022 11:25 PM

I don't put anything past her. She's a troublemaker. About the only thing she can be counted on for, is to inflame a situation and make it worse

by Anonymousreply 184January 10, 2022 11:38 PM

And, most interestingly in your answer, why would you suspect that rather elaborate scenario?

Her strategy of not voting for infrastructure until BBB passed just made Dems and Biden look weak for months. Then the progressives gave in because of a Manchin promise which everyone knew was just bs. So BBB has still not passed and gets smaller everyday. She’s not exactly a master at getting things done.

by Anonymousreply 191January 11, 2022 4:25 AM
