Sad.

Jonathan Groff played him as a real sweetie in Taking Woodstock

by Anonymousreply 2January 9, 2022 4:40 PM

I thought he was gay....

by Anonymousreply 3January 9, 2022 4:41 PM

Michael Lang was a hottie back then.

Nah. Mamie Gummer played his girlfriend in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 5January 9, 2022 4:52 PM

Well....Woodstock '69 was the best one...so thanks Michael Lang. RIP...

Textbook example of a totally self-centered, selfish dick who was supremely indifferent to others. Lied, cheated, and stole to get "his" music festival put on, all the while deliberating misleading his partners/principal investors in the project.

Read "Barefoot in Bablyon" by Bob Spitz. It doesn't paint a pretty picture of Lang at all.

by Anonymousreply 7January 9, 2022 5:45 PM

You’re harshing my buzz, man.

I think the cat was far out.

That Spitz guy was just jealous he didn’t think of it first, ya dig?

by Anonymousreply 8January 9, 2022 5:54 PM

Wow, man.

by Anonymousreply 9January 9, 2022 7:09 PM

Lang was also involved with the Altamont free concert. He was one of the sane people in a sea of homocidal madness.

by Anonymousreply 10January 9, 2022 7:10 PM

(R8) My hippie Grampa.

by Anonymousreply 11January 9, 2022 7:13 PM

[quote] homocidal madness.

What is this, a killer fag?

by Anonymousreply 12January 9, 2022 7:13 PM

He was quite cute when he was young, R4.

by Anonymousreply 13January 9, 2022 7:13 PM

What was on his iPod?

by Anonymousreply 14January 9, 2022 7:16 PM

You couldn’t even get past r1?

JFC.

by Anonymousreply 15January 9, 2022 7:20 PM

There's got be more than just that one song, R15.

by Anonymousreply 16January 9, 2022 7:22 PM

Yes, but we have to wait until that one finishes before changing the LP, man.

What kind of fancy technology do you think we had?

by Anonymousreply 17January 9, 2022 7:25 PM

Get a haircut, R17. You look like a girl!

by Anonymousreply 18January 9, 2022 7:27 PM

He pretty much looked the same..yes, older...he had that great head of long curly hair.

by Anonymousreply 19January 9, 2022 7:30 PM

I would’ve gone to Woodstock if I had been 12 years older and lived back East.

I was in Sun Valley Idaho in 1982 and went to a little bar one night with a friend. We didn’t know there would be live music and to my surprise Country Joe McDonald came out. He played for awhile, then took a 45” break and came back really stoned and played some more. It was great.

Has anyone seen the doc on the new Woodstock on HBO max? It’s actually really good. I love the part where Lang is saying there was plenty of fresh water for people. Then you see kids taking baths in free water stations. Breaking them. Water running everywhere with the backed up Porta potties. Making mud and shit rivers everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 21January 10, 2022 1:52 PM

Those muddy/shitty kids had it all over them...even in their mouths. Ewww...

by Anonymousreply 22January 10, 2022 7:44 PM

r21 that Woodstock '99 documentary is excellent. We had a big thread on it. What a shitshow (literally)! Lang did not come off well at all.

Think about it, he was only 25 then.

by Anonymousreply 28January 13, 2022 4:49 AM

My nabes went to Woodstock on Friday. They were back by lunchtime Saturday. To use today's vernacular, they said it was a fucking hellhole. You couldn't hear, you couldn't see, and it was mudsville. Homicidal mudsville. There were no homos at Woodstock.

Weren’t a whole bunch of women raped there? The fantasy that it was this peaceful event has really be ripped to shreds.
