I have seen posters here mention recently that T.E. Lawrence was raped. But this article said it was made up.
Is this one of those "rape but not rape rape" scenarios?

It wasn't rape-rape, OP.

He never submitted his consent form.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 5, 2022 6:47 PM |
I could see how his white ass could be tempting.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 5, 2022 6:49 PM |
Maybe it was different times, but he does not look cute at all at R3.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 5, 2022 6:51 PM |
He was wearing short shorts.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 5, 2022 6:54 PM |
R4, to the Turkish soldiers, he might have been.

[quote] Eldergays, tell me about the rape of Lawrence of Arabia
Don't waste your time, OP.
None of us were there.

If he had looked like Peter O'Toole there would have definitely been rape. If there had been sex it would have been consensual. Lawrence was desperate.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 5, 2022 7:50 PM |
We knew her as Florence of Arabia!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | January 5, 2022 7:51 PM |
Lawrence was celibate and mentally-fragile.
And we have no way to gauge if his efforts made any difference to the war.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 5, 2022 7:56 PM |
You can’t rape the willing .

[quote] You can’t rape the willing
That's an appropriate thing to say to that woman who is taking Prince Edward to court.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 5, 2022 8:19 PM |
The alleged 'rape' took 20 minutes and was seen by no one one hundred and seven years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 5, 2022 8:31 PM |
It wasn’t rape, just a little over-the-robe action.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 5, 2022 8:41 PM |
I'll have to dig out my copy of '7 Pillars' but TEL describes the whipping as 'vaguely sexual' or words to that effect.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 5, 2022 8:43 PM |
I read a biography recently that says some hospital records came to light that suggest it did actually happen.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 1, 2022 10:16 PM |
My favorite Lawrences are Gertrude, Joey, Vicki, and Welk.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 1, 2022 10:19 PM |
Unlike O'Toole, he was a little guy with a huge head.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 1, 2022 10:20 PM |
The torture and whipping probably included some anal probing and genital grabbing but no dick action, even though the Turkish soldiers were horny as hell most likely.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 1, 2022 10:25 PM |
Larry was a British poof who had been teasing the swarthy Turkish soldiers for some time. He knew what he was doing playing peek-a-boo with his robes
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 1, 2022 10:31 PM |
R18 fun fact. He had a bad case of mumps as a kid and it stunted his growth ( he was only 5'4') , his voice never broke properly and he probably had sexual issues due to incomplete puberty/damaged testes.
He also was so averse to physical touch that he wouldn't even shake hands... That was BEFORE the rape. He said in private letters and diaries that he'd never had sex and 'didn't much want to. '
Weird guy... Kinda sad.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 1, 2022 10:32 PM |
Maybe he felt guilty about his same sex encounters and tried to justify them by saying that he was raped.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 1, 2022 10:34 PM |
He wasn't as tight as Ivor Novello.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 1, 2022 10:43 PM |
It was pretty painful...
until he pushed past my second ring...
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 1, 2022 10:46 PM |
He loved it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 1, 2022 10:46 PM |
R1 I didn't know you were on here Whoopi

Maybe not, R22.

I might believe this story if those hospital records were shown.

They're not very helpful...
Larry claimed he fell on a Turkish man's penis...repeatedly
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 2, 2022 12:10 AM |
It was the purple-faced Obi-Wan that popped Lawrence's butt-cherry
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 2, 2022 12:14 AM |
[quote]Eldergays, tell me about the rape of Lawrence of Arabia
How the hell should I know? I never made him suck MY cock.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 2, 2022 12:29 AM |
R16 But these "hospital records" you mention'; are they English hospital records or Arab hospital records?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 2, 2022 12:41 AM |
One of the reviewers suggests this new biography might be too serious for the average Datalounger.
[quote] Perhaps the first serious study since homosexuality lost its titillation, the author is free to take a more grown up perspective. We benefit instead from seeing an Aesthetic intellectual entirely of his era, steeped in a mystical romanticism that would carry him against the winds and ultimately destroy him. If the author's conclusions on the "identity" of SA disappoint you, then the reading is wasted on you and you will find more meat in the tittle tattle of the endless turgid assassinations before.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 2, 2022 12:49 AM |
r12 You must mean Prince Andrew. Edward is a poof.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 2, 2022 12:56 AM |
contrary to the quote in R33, homosexuality has never lost its titillation.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 2, 2022 1:30 AM |
The new transvestites are the new titillation.
Ordinary homosexuality has become safe, bourgeois and boring. You see children being taken to the "LGBTQI+" parades.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 2, 2022 1:35 AM |
"homosexuality has never lost its titillation"
I love being titillated by homosexuals :)
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 2, 2022 4:48 AM |
Noel did say if Lawrence looked like Peter O'Toole the Arabs would have never let him go.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 2, 2022 11:52 AM |
Lawrence and Noel Coward became friends in 1930. Lawrence said Coward's plays were, "not deep but remarkable. A hasty kind of genius."
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 2, 2022 5:15 PM |
R32 Turkish I think.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 2, 2022 10:23 PM |
[quote] Turkish I think.
Do you think they say say ANYTHING revelatory about Lawrence perhaps?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 2, 2022 10:29 PM |
R41 I think the main thing is that they put him in the right area at the right time. It's been a while since I read it, I'll have to bone up again ( pun intended.)
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 3, 2022 12:17 AM |
[quote]and you will find more meat in the tittle tattle of the endless turgid assassinations before.
"Turgid" is one of my favorite words.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 4, 2022 5:18 AM |
[quote] "Turgid"
Lawrence laboured hard to handle English prose but his 700 page book is long, opaque, confusing, ambiguous and rather turgid.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 4, 2022 5:29 AM |
Turgid in physical terms usually suggests swollen or erect but in literary terms it usually suggests bloated or overlong. It's one of my favorite words too.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 4, 2022 5:37 AM |
If any of you California Queens have access to Theordora Duncan's incompletely catalouged collection in the Huntington Library... Have at it.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 5, 2022 9:53 PM |
I read he enjoyed humiliation and also made stuff up. This paper might be of interest here.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 5, 2022 10:06 PM |
jeezus, with all of the allusions and hedging language, for all we know they castrated or gelded him in addition to ripping his bowels.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 5, 2022 10:11 PM |
The Edwardians never gave a straight answer to anything even vaguely sexual. The letters make it sound like he was physically damaged in some way. Who the fuck knows. r48 Masochism isn't an unusual response to abuse either.
