What does Andy Cohen have against Bill de Blasio?

Who has given more to New York?

by Anonymousreply 209March 28, 2022 5:23 PM

Fuck Bdb

by Anonymousreply 1January 1, 2022 12:29 PM

Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

by Anonymousreply 2January 1, 2022 12:33 PM

Everyone in NYC hates Bill DeBlasio.

by Anonymousreply 3January 1, 2022 12:35 PM

Cohen is transparent and fake.

by Anonymousreply 4January 1, 2022 12:50 PM

Hatred of DeBlasio has united all New Yorkers, Democrats, Republicans, Greens, and all races, all boros, and all classes.

He has given unity to New York City when no one else could.

by Anonymousreply 5January 1, 2022 12:52 PM

Very unprofessional.

by Anonymousreply 6January 1, 2022 12:54 PM

Andy is friends with John McCain’s daughter who won’t shut up about hating him.

by Anonymousreply 7January 1, 2022 12:57 PM

[Quote] He has given unity to New York City when no one else could.

Andy has given unity to Datalounge when no one else could.

by Anonymousreply 8January 1, 2022 12:58 PM

His rant was wrong too. He said something about 4 years...he was mayor for 8. The city reelected the clown!

Plus he legally changed his name TWICE, people should have known then that he was a nut.

by Anonymousreply 9January 1, 2022 1:00 PM

How Queer of him.

by Anonymousreply 10January 1, 2022 1:03 PM

de Blasio destroyed NYC

by Anonymousreply 11January 1, 2022 1:04 PM

Why would a grown man change his name? Did he want to become an actor? Do his kids have his real last name or this made up one?

by Anonymousreply 12January 1, 2022 1:05 PM

He was born Warren Wilhelm, Jr. R12 and went by that name all through high school and college.

His dad left the family and so he wanted to use his mother's maiden name -- de Blasio.

IIRC, "William" (Bill) is is middle name and he started to use that since his father's name was also Warren.

So major daddy issues.

The wife is also an ex-lesbian. As in she was an out lesbian very actively involved with lesbian groups before she met him

by Anonymousreply 13January 1, 2022 1:10 PM

Sorry I know nothing about de Blasio. Could someone explain what he's done to NYC for everyone to hate him?

by Anonymousreply 14January 1, 2022 1:10 PM

He was 100 percent correct . It is amazing that with all of the outspoken celebrities out there , ol’ Andy the only one to trash DeBlasio -an unprecedented disaster by any measure

by Anonymousreply 15January 1, 2022 1:10 PM

Complaint is New Yorkers’ love language, so I always have trouble distinguishing whether there are serious grievances against De Blasio or it’s pretty stuff like where he works out. Can someone clarify?

And of course the knives are already out for Adams. Who would want this job?

by Anonymousreply 16January 1, 2022 1:11 PM

*petty stuff, stupid autocorrect

by Anonymousreply 17January 1, 2022 1:12 PM

De Blasio is safe to trash.

by Anonymousreply 18January 1, 2022 1:14 PM

Incoherent ranting, 'he like, totally, like sucks' isn't good enough. Be specific in your complaints. BTW,Eric Adams described himself as the champ on twitter last night after taking office. Champ of what? Elected officials no longer understand the assignment because so few citizens vote in elections.

by Anonymousreply 19January 1, 2022 1:18 PM

So... As an outsider to the NYC world, I'm still confused as to how de Blasio messed up. Any concrete examples of his failures?

by Anonymousreply 20January 1, 2022 1:26 PM

Here are some more details R20: Pathetic on crime-every meaningful crime statistic (murder, shootings, etc) worse than when he was first inaugurated , trash piling up everywhere, homeless people /meth addicts swarming the streets , $850 M his wife was in charge of for mental health /Thrive NY project disappeared with zero results , subways a disaster , businesses shuttering, etc etc ….

by Anonymousreply 21January 1, 2022 1:27 PM

[quote] Complaint is New Yorkers’ love language…

Holy shit, that is brilliant, r16. I’m laughing at how simple and true this is.

I was happy with Bloomberg, personally.

by Anonymousreply 22January 1, 2022 1:27 PM

The new one is probably even worse, just saying

by Anonymousreply 23January 1, 2022 1:29 PM

[quote] Pathetic on crime-every meaningful crime statistic (murder, shootings, etc) worse than when he was first inaugurated , trash piling up everywhere, homeless people /meth addicts swarming the streets

Sounds like San Francisco to me...

by Anonymousreply 24January 1, 2022 1:30 PM

r14 Deblasio's detractors are not permitted to have an opinion when they do not vote in elections. On his way out DeBlasio authorized the destruction of a park including the removal of 80 year old trees. A barrier is to be constructed to protect the area from flooding but the deal was rushed against local opposition and smells bad. It smells grifty.

by Anonymousreply 25January 1, 2022 1:31 PM

DeBlasio is a racist fuckwad.

But the ironic thing is that his policies hurt black people in the long run. And ask anyone in NYCHA how they liked him.

by Anonymousreply 26January 1, 2022 1:31 PM

He changed his name to be more electable.

His wife is a MAJOR grifter.

Both are frauds.

by Anonymousreply 27January 1, 2022 1:34 PM

He was mostly just incompetent and tone deaf R20 and showed no real ability to communicate with his constituents. He was elected and re-elected when the other viable candidates stood in the usual circular firing squad.

Sort of that old book The Peter Principle in action--he was an okay minor bureaucrat but a terrible manager.

by Anonymousreply 28January 1, 2022 1:36 PM

R25, I have voted in every single election for which I’m eligible, not just the big mayoral ones, since 1988. No way I’m an expert on city politics, but I try to keep up and am involved hyper-locally in district politics that affect my neighborhood specifically.

To use his favorite phrase: LET ME BE CLEAR. DeBlasio is not a hapless bumbling fool, he’s malicious.

by Anonymousreply 29January 1, 2022 1:37 PM

Can a white man be racist if he's married to a black woman?

by Anonymousreply 30January 1, 2022 1:45 PM

R30 yes

by Anonymousreply 31January 1, 2022 1:47 PM

I don’t understand how the $850 million isn’t a bigger issue. Can someone explain that? Also - it is sad that “journalism” has deteriorated to the point where I am more trusting of the responses on an anonymous message board than I am of published articles. But I haven’t seen a published article that adequately addresses it. It seems like they definitely can’t measure the effectiveness of programs, but can they demonstrate what the money was actually spent on and verify that those items and services were received? IOW, was she incompetent or criminal?

by Anonymousreply 32January 1, 2022 1:48 PM

[quote] de Blasio destroyed NYC

NYC has the same problems it’s always had (and will continue to have), of course worsened by the same national issues that currently plague the rest of the nation.

by Anonymousreply 33January 1, 2022 1:49 PM

[quote] don’t understand how the $850 million isn’t a bigger issue.

Yes she wrote an $850 million dollar check to herself. That’s what you wanted to here right?

[quote] Can someone explain that? Also - it is sad that “journalism” has deteriorated to the point where I am more trusting of the responses on an anonymous message board than I am of published articles.

If you trust the bullshit posted here. Journalism is not the problem. You’re just an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 38January 1, 2022 1:57 PM

Sadly, the DailyMail is better at investigative reporting, not having ties to local NYC politics. Although I do think that some local rag finally had the balls to call out Chirlane’s forgotten initiative to erect a bunch of woke statues.

by Anonymousreply 39January 1, 2022 1:58 PM

I don’t get the Andy hate. Yes he may be messy but he owns it. Fuck it.

by Anonymousreply 40January 1, 2022 1:58 PM

So you don’t know either, R34. But keep calling other people idiots.

by Anonymousreply 41January 1, 2022 1:59 PM

Oh, look - he put her on a Covid task-force, too.

One day after Mayor Bill de Blasio named his wife Chirlane McCray to co-chair a task force on racial equity in the COVID-19 recovery, a City Hall spokeswoman says the task force has no authority to make decisions and is not designed to promote his wife’s political career.

“The entity itself does not have decision making power,” Jane Meyer, a spokeswoman for the de Blasio administration told NBC New York. “This group will be an ear to the ground and will be able to raise issues quickly or suggest ways to better connect with and serve communities that are most impacted."

Some critics said Mayor de Blasio is playing politics by giving the high profile role to his wife, who is said to be considering a run for Brooklyn borough president in 2021.

“The COVID-19 crisis in communities of color is real and deserves thoughtful leadership and swift action, not unqualified cronyism and nepotism,” said City Councilmember Antonio Reynoso, who is running for Brooklyn borough president.

R42, did you see Dante’s “violence disruptor” film in one of Big Bird’s pressers earlier this week? Trying to eke out the last bit of paycheck for his lazy loser family.

If he doesn’t get elected governor, they might have to get real jobs.

by Anonymousreply 44January 1, 2022 2:26 PM

New York is a shithole.

by Anonymousreply 45January 1, 2022 2:28 PM

Andy Cohen doesn’t go after his wife. I wonder why.

by Anonymousreply 46January 1, 2022 2:28 PM

Cohen's a fucking millionaire. Get your fucking eye fixed so you don't look like a fucking chameleon looking for flies.

by Anonymousreply 47January 1, 2022 2:33 PM

Though I agree with him, it was wrong for Andy to express extreme personal political opinion on the show. He should be banned. The whole point of NYE broadcast is to AVOID the perpetual political squawk box that TV “news” has become. It is an apolitical event.

Andy’s opinion is also the lazy apolitical NYers new hip slogan. Andy is not a political analyst. He is a pop gossip. I’m finding more ignorant NYers broadcasting their hatred of BdB suddenly because it’s hip. It’s not informed poltical discourse, it’s parroting popular opinions.

by Anonymousreply 48January 1, 2022 2:33 PM

deblasios major talent is for public speaking, he has very little personal charisma. He is an excellent public speaker and is able to speak at length on policy issues.

by Anonymousreply 49January 1, 2022 2:35 PM

it is one thing to correctly observe the one billion dollar thrive initiative was an expensive failure and another to lie wifey ran off with the loot.

by Anonymousreply 50January 1, 2022 2:44 PM

You get the mayor you vote for not the one you wish you had. If the people of NYC re-elected him, they obviously thought he was the best man for the job. What a bunch of hypocritical uptight twats to do that and trash him at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 51January 1, 2022 2:45 PM

R51 So once someone's elected they're immune from criticism?

by Anonymousreply 52January 1, 2022 2:49 PM

Andy and Anderson are so fucking sexy it isn't even funny.

I wonder how many times they've fucked. I'd love to be DP'd by them.

Two hunks.

by Anonymousreply 53January 1, 2022 2:50 PM

R46 Yeah I wonder why. Because its all right there in black and white.

by Anonymousreply 54January 1, 2022 2:50 PM

R52, No one said that, but if your complaints are valid and hold water, you are a full of shit if you then go ahead and put the politician back into office. Otherwise you are just an annoying twat who wants to complain but do nothing about it.

by Anonymousreply 55January 1, 2022 2:53 PM

[quote]Complaint is New Yorkers’ love language

by Anonymousreply 56January 1, 2022 2:54 PM

She claims she's an "ex-gay" and seems to get a pass on Datalounge for it. Never understood why.

by Anonymousreply 57January 1, 2022 3:12 PM

Yeah, I dont get why NYC people hate him, they seem to hate everyone they elect. It's a pattern, not a good look.

by Anonymousreply 58January 1, 2022 3:15 PM

It’s because she black, that’s why. She gets a pass because she’s black. And if you criticize her it makes you racist.

When she wore a denim pantsuit to a police officer’s funeral, she was criticized for not dressing appropriately. And anyone who said it was disrespectful to wear denim pants to an official’s funeral, was called racist because who are we to impose white standards of dress to a woman of color?

by Anonymousreply 59January 1, 2022 3:18 PM

Joe Scarborough & Mika have de Blasio on as a Morning Joe guest rather frequently. Part of it is access due to the studio being in NYC. To me, de Blasio's demeanor and yapping is annoying. He had some useful information as to how NYC was coping with the pandemic. Still, I flip the channel after a minute or so when he appears.

As to de Blasio running for NY Governor, I can't see the State embracing him. His track record on crime prevention, showing favoritism, relations with public employees including police, and the management of the city's finances, are dismal.

by Anonymousreply 60January 1, 2022 3:34 PM

deBlasio who abandoned the city to run for President, is using money raised for that campaign to run for governor.

by Anonymousreply 61January 1, 2022 3:35 PM

de Blasio will never become governor. We hate him downstate and upstate has a high concentration of Trump republicans.

by Anonymousreply 62January 1, 2022 3:39 PM

Bloomberg was a decent mayor. Can't say the same about de Blasio.

by Anonymousreply 63January 1, 2022 3:40 PM

One very good thing de Blasio did was to appoint more tenant representatives on board that determines rents each year for rent stabilized apartments; they were actually able to hold down the usual hikes, even having a couple of years with no rent hikes at all. So for that I'm grateful.

by Anonymousreply 64January 1, 2022 3:41 PM

I am old enough to remember the John Lindsay years. It has been said that Lindsay “was the best mayor New York ever had until he took office”.

Thanks to de Blasio, Lindsay now holds the #2 spot as worst mayor ever.

by Anonymousreply 69January 1, 2022 4:02 PM

He wants to be POTUS, what politician doesn't? He ran in a wide field for the 2020 Democratic POTUS candidate (alongside Bloomberg) during the height of the health crisis while Cuomo choose not to. Cuomo has a wider national presence than Deblasio but stayed put to serve New Yorkers. And you can see where that got Cuomo. Cuomo has been removed from office based on trumped up allegations of sexual harassment but Deblasio was allowed to serve his two terms even though his wife is being incorrectly accused of misappropriating 1 billion dollars of public funds!

by Anonymousreply 72January 1, 2022 4:05 PM

ugly vapid fat cokehead with a wonky eye

by Anonymousreply 73January 1, 2022 4:05 PM

I had never really watched CNN NYE for more than two minutes. I was surprised how drunk/high they let their people get. My god. It was fun though seeing people unhinged and not giving a fuck.

When did Anderson Cooper morph into Tim Cook?

by Anonymousreply 74January 1, 2022 4:09 PM

R74 All those sloppy media queens were drunk and sloppy last night...from the local to the national (Andy Cohen & Don Lemon.) Minor train wreck.

by Anonymousreply 75January 1, 2022 4:09 PM

New Yorkers voted for term limits twice, Bloomberg used his wealth to sidestep term limits for an illegal 3rd term. That is his legacy. He isn't even a good public speaker.

by Anonymousreply 76January 1, 2022 4:13 PM

De Blasio sucked long before Andy Cohen got the drunken balls to say it on CNN. He also was a terrible mayor long before it became fashionable to say so.

Adams may suck, Adams may not, but there's a big mess in this city to clean up, literally, with the homeless dreck and mentally ill wandering like flotsam and jetsam, and that is squarely on de Blasio.

by Anonymousreply 77January 1, 2022 4:14 PM

Was the midnight swearing in of Adams just a one-time thing; a stunt/spectacle? Or is that how it's normally done?

by Anonymousreply 78January 1, 2022 4:15 PM

On a related topic, I can still remember the days when I regarded Anderson Cooper as a serious news person.

by Anonymousreply 79January 1, 2022 4:17 PM

Andy was great. It was a little too late, but I wish more people had dumped on Mayor De Shitstain while he was in office.

Governor of NY? In his fucking dreams.

by Anonymousreply 80January 1, 2022 4:21 PM

Adams is a typical New Yawk cop. Brutish and undereducated. Crime is the pressing issues for voters that got him elected.

by Anonymousreply 81January 1, 2022 4:21 PM

Anderson seems to lose his composure and gets a bit queeny when he's with Cohen.

by Anonymousreply 82January 1, 2022 4:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 83January 1, 2022 4:26 PM

r71, Anderson as a top? By all reports...no.

by Anonymousreply 85January 1, 2022 4:32 PM

NYC needs a strong powerful man like Ron DeSantis at the helm. Anderson's muscles would look puny and weak compared to strong man DeSantis'.

by Anonymousreply 89January 1, 2022 4:43 PM

I find all of the CNN guys unwatchable. It's unprofessional to be drunk on air, I'm amazed CNN allows this. I hope I never see Capeheart doing this sort of thing, he's definitely the smartest and best dressed.

by Anonymousreply 90January 1, 2022 4:44 PM

Hush, I want to see more drunks on the air. Professional? Please that horse left the barn about 50 years ago. I wish they had done one with Barbra Walters all liquored up, that would have been hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 91January 1, 2022 4:46 PM

Adams was sworn in at 12:15am.

by Anonymousreply 92January 1, 2022 4:49 PM

And sworn at at 12:20.

by Anonymousreply 93January 1, 2022 4:50 PM

It always bothers me when people complain about homeless. Should the mayor scoop them up and put them in extermination camps?

Blame the Nancy Pelosis and the Mitch McConnells of the world.

by Anonymousreply 94January 1, 2022 4:55 PM

Hu? That makes no sense, it's a city problem. A very rich city problem R94.

by Anonymousreply 95January 1, 2022 4:59 PM

Desantis lost the election to Andrew Party Boy Gillum in the same way dump lost the 2016 election to Clinton. The election results were contested by Gillium but the death sentence swooped his big greasy ass in office. The death sentence has been MIA since 12/17/21 during yet another surge of infection in Florida . You want the job or not? His disappearance is not ok under normal circumstances and should be an impeachable offense during a health crisis.

by Anonymousreply 96January 1, 2022 5:05 PM

when deblasio took office, NYC was the safest big city in America. It's plunged down to the 7th safest big city in the country.

Some stupid cunt tried to tell me that deblasio was doing a great job and that plunging down all those places on the list was proof of what a FABULOUS mayor he was. He also thinks Chicago is doing well too.

That kind of fucking stupidity is how deblasio got re-elected, because the democrats think complaining about the current democrat that's in office is a sin and if they just cross their fingers and keep quiet things will magically get better. It won't. That's a FACT.

They're just like donald trump supporters

by Anonymousreply 97January 1, 2022 5:07 PM

R55 That's just stupidly simplistic. Firstly, he may have been the least bad option.

Secondly, the overwhelming majority of New Yorkers did not vote for him. The turnout for both the 2013 and 2017 elections was 26% (page 23 of link).

De Blasio is a handsome guy and probably wields a thick one. Why on earth did he marry an ugly lesbian? That is evidence of his poor judgment.

by Anonymousreply 108January 1, 2022 7:27 PM

On his first day as Mayor Eric Adams witness an assault while waiting for the J train and saw homeless and mentally ill people on the subway train. He called 9-11. Lurch de Blasio was the hear no, see no evil Mayor and he was anti-police. in his last year as Mayor homicides in NY were at a 10-year high as were vehicular homicides.

by Anonymousreply 109January 1, 2022 7:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 110January 1, 2022 7:37 PM

R78, When de Blasio was sworn into office in for his first term, it was held at 12:01am in front of his Brooklyn home. His second term swearing in ceremony was held in the afternoon at City Hall Park. Bernie Sanders swore him in.

It’s up to the electee to decide the location. The swearing time for a first termer is around midnight. Second term time, is whenever on January 1st. At least this is what I believe to be true.

And if Trump's nepotism bothered you, then you should be annoyed with de Blasio for constantly putting his wife on task forces that she unqualified to lead. by Anonymousreply 131January 2, 2022 12:52 AM

The first year BDB was in office he was supposed to attend a memorial in the Rockaways for the people who died in the American Airlines flight 587 crash and he showed up over an hour late because he overslept. That to me was the defining moment of his Mayoral careers. The man is just a tone deaf schmuck.

His kids were adorable though and they always seemed like decent people and I think to a great extent he owed his first term to people’s desire to see a warm happy family as the face of New York after Bloomberg, who was perceived as a bit of a cold fish.

by Anonymousreply 132January 2, 2022 12:55 AM

he is for universal health care insurance for New Yorkers. That is why there is a hit against him. IT worked because New Yorkers are stupid. You almost had universal health care insurance for al of New York.

by Anonymousreply 133January 2, 2022 12:58 AM

why fire someone for spewing rubbish while drunk? Cohen should be fired for the enduring stench of the real old horse faced whores of wrong island.

by Anonymousreply 134January 2, 2022 12:59 AM

I saw that part. Cooper tried to stop him.

Also, Cohen is more entertaining than Anderson at the event.

[quote]They are a mixed couple too. How do people think they can get away with this type of attack. He wanted all New Yorkers to have Health Insurance. THis is a GOOD THING

It's NY, not some dumbfuck flyover state or disgusting southern state. Most jobs in NYC have health insurance. And it's not a mayor's job to deal with this. He should have concentrated on the fucking job people elected him to do, which was take care of NYC. Instead this useless son of a bitch ran for president, all while NYC was going STRAIGHT TO HELL. The rest of NY did NOT ask for this dumb mother fucker's help.

We all know a useless jackass like bill de blasio. We've all worked with a piece of shit like bill de blasio. They were hired to do one job, but they aren't going to do that job. OH NO!!, NOT THEM. They're going to worry about every other thing, that isn't part of their job. They never get any fucking thing accomplished. They waste everyone's time, energy and money worrying about shit that does NOT concern them. They make EVERY situation WORSE

by Anonymousreply 144January 2, 2022 1:30 AM

CNN's coverage last night was wall-to-wall cringe. From the cracked-out comedian shilling toilet paper cozies to Andy's booze-coke binge to that godawful Katy Perry performance. The diBlasio rant was just icing on the drug-laced cake.

by Anonymousreply 149January 2, 2022 1:38 AM

Because he was a sitting Democratic mayor with Trump being president, R147.

by Anonymousreply 150January 2, 2022 1:40 AM

R144, most jobs in NYC offer health insurance? Maybe, but not by much.

If NY has as many restaurant, hotel, and other such service type jobs proportionally as the rest of the country on average then 41% of workers there are defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics as “low-wage” and don’t have health insurance through their employers.

Health care, or lack thereof, is most definitely a local issue. The ability of hospitals to remain open often depends on people having health insurance, as evidenced by rural hospitals closing in states which didn’t take the Medicare expansion dollars from the federal government. Healthcare might not be a public service like water and sanitation but it plays just as large a role in the livability of a city.

Andy and Katy were both pissed off at Anderson when he kept going on and on about his child when she was there to promote her new Vegas residency. by Anonymousreply 160January 2, 2022 2:51 AM

[quote]If everyone hated de Blasio how was he elected for a second term?

Because when you're running as a democrat in NYC you're basically running opposed these days. It's not like the early 00s when a moderate republican could get elected. He also won on record low voter turnout... something like 22% of registered voters/roughly 8.5% of NYC's population voted.

by Anonymousreply 161January 2, 2022 2:59 AM

Both Rudy and Bloomberg needed a third party line to also run on to get elected as a Republican. You can combine party votes in NYS.

Adams was a Republican and changed to Democrat. We basically have a Black Republican mayor now. Which is fine with me, we need a little strictness and cutting of the city bureaucracy. Personally I would love to see the teachers union crushed and real school choice instituted.

by Anonymousreply 162January 2, 2022 3:08 AM

[quote]something like 22% of registered voters/roughly 8.5% of NYC's population voted.

So all of the city of NYC is complaining like Karen on the rag but end of the day the vast majority dont even lift a finger to vote? Typical.

You get the Mayor you deserve.

by Anonymousreply 163January 2, 2022 3:24 AM

[quote}Both Rudy and Bloomberg needed a third party line to also run on to get elected as a Republican.

Bloomberg was a democrat and switched parties to republican because the demographic field was too large. He switched to independent toward the end of his second term and then back to democrat for his failed run at president.

by Anonymousreply 166January 2, 2022 3:40 AM

De Blasio has done a lot for the city.

De Blasio's policy initiatives have included new de-escalation training for police officers, reduced prosecutions for cannabis possession, implementation of police body cameras, and ending the post-9/11 surveillance program of Muslim residents. In his first term as mayor, he implemented a free universal pre-kindergarten program in the city. De Blasio has called attention to what he calls stark economic inequality in New York City, which he described as a "tale of two cities" during his first campaign. He has supported socially liberal and progressive policies in regard to the city's economy, urban planning, public education, police relations.

by Anonymousreply 167January 2, 2022 4:06 AM

De Blasio was on the take. Even after being warned that his quid pro quo campaign financial arrangements was unethical he continued.

And, the groundwork for universal pre-K was laid by Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 168January 2, 2022 4:15 AM

R151, New York expanded medicaid. It's not the mayor's job to deal with this. That's the governor's job. de blasio is like that one jackass at every job you've ever had that ignores their own job and worries about everything else that has nothing to do with him.

I will give him credit for the expanded Pre-K, but he left the city a fucking mess. And nowhere is that more evident than the poor sections of the city. These kids who need the pre-K now live in even more dangerous conditions than before. Hopefully the kids don't get shot on their way to Pre-K

by Anonymousreply 169January 2, 2022 4:16 AM

Ignoring the grifting wife (don't), de Blasio's office was notoriously pay for play. No money, no access.

NYC is in decline, it's 15 minutes of glory are over. People are leaving in droves. No matter who becomes the next Mayor, guarantee it will continue to decline and New Yonkers will blame him for it too. Remember the 70's? That is the direction it's going. All cities go through periods of growth and decline, it's a cycle and NY crested about 4 years ago. The next 10 will be nothing but a downward spiral with hot spots of billionaire towers peppered among the filth below.

Bloomberg made a fool of himself when he attempted to speak Spanish at press conferences.

by Anonymousreply 185January 2, 2022 4:52 PM

When deBlasio ran the first time, his son, Dante, with full Afro was in the commercials. Daddy said he taught his son to be fearful of the police. At a funeral for an NYPD officer, hundreds of cops turned their backs when he showed up. Because people think all politicians are useless, fewer than 26% showed up to vote, both times. In the recent election that gave us Eric Adams as mayor, 20% voted.

by Anonymousreply 186January 2, 2022 4:57 PM

by Anonymousreply 190January 2, 2022 5:46 PM

Grushenka may be talking about a controversial plan de Blasio proposed that would extend rent control to certain commercial properties.

by Anonymousreply 191January 2, 2022 6:02 PM

Gave up would seem to indicate something that was in place or within grasp? That commercial tenant right of first refusal at a capped percentage increase seemed rather a long shot from the start imho. But you are right R191 maybe Grushenka is a devoted reader of Crain’s and/or small business owner on Columbus Ave.

by Anonymousreply 192January 2, 2022 6:08 PM

[quote]Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the NYPD deliberately not doing their job properly because of all the defund the police talk they took as an attack by DeBlasio against them?

He cut $1 billion from the police budget and pissed it away somewhere else. Within 6 months he had to shift money back to the police.

He thought cancelling training courses/recruiting new officers and cancelling police overtime was a good thing. IT WASN'T. This link is from fox news, but it's a fact that shootings went up 127% that year. NYC went from a place where people would bring their families on vacation to a place no one wants to bring their children to
