Happy Birthday, Sandy Koufax

Born: December 30, 1935 (age 86); Brooklyn, New York

MLB debut: June 24, 1955, for the Brooklyn Dodgers; Last MLB appearance: October 2, 1966, for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Koufax was the first major league pitcher to pitch four no-hitters and the eighth pitcher to pitch a perfect game in baseball history. Despite his comparatively short career, Koufax's 2,396 career strikeouts ranked 7th all-time as of his retirement, trailing only Warren Spahn (2,583) among left-handers. Koufax is the first of just five pitchers elected to the Hall of Fame who had more strikeouts than innings pitched.

In four trips to the World Series Koufax won three rings, twice being named the Series' Most Valuable Player.

Koufax married Anne Widmark, the daughter of actor Richard Widmark, in 1969; they divorced in 1982. His second marriage, to personal trainer Kimberly Francis, lasted from 1985 to 1998. Neither marriage produced children. His third wife is Jane Dee Purucker Clarke, a college sorority sister of former first lady Laura Bush. Koufax is the step-father of Clarke's daughter from her prior marriage to artist John Clem Clarke.

The wear and tear on the human body from years of playing sports is significant.

Please stop it with the sports posts. We're gay. Please have some gay pride.

R3. I'm gay too, and I posted it. Sandy Koufax is also a celebrated American icon.

It's not a "sports post."

I saw him mentioned here.

No one is going to mention the gay rumors about him?

Also, R3's post is pretty obnoxious.
