Andrea Boccaletti, who played Derek, was a real model back in the 90s. He’s originally from NYC, and began modeling after he graduated college. He speaks Italian and Spanish fluently. He is half Italian (father) and half Cuban (mother).

In the early 00s he moved to LA and has made a fortune in real estate, and owns numerous properties.

His birthday is September 11, 1970 in NYC. I’m sure 9/11 sucked for him. He moved to LA not long after.

That was the second ep of the first season - Carrie was a normal human being who knew her limitations then. How gross and gauche for her to be lying next to this beautiful man who inexplicably was in her bed and SMOKING.

R12 Carrie was pretty self centered and awful by season 2. Season 1 is the only time she seems kinda normal.

He is still very beautiful but would look hotter and a bit younger if he lost the beard.

I've actually known young models like the way Derek is portrayed; very beautiful but unaffected, unguarded, and non-narcissistic. The combination is devastating; you fall in love instantly.
