If Kryptonians were immortal, wouldn't they have all survived when their planet was destroyed?

Superman ages so he must die but at a slower rate than humans was my understanding. I’d say he’s supermortal; not immortal. he has weaknesses and can die.

From what I remember, the older he gets the slower he ages.

If Superman can be killed by kryptonite, how can he be considered immortal. He just ages better than the lowly earthlings.

but also people can't separate the difference between invicible and immortal.

the science geek section has shifted a lot over several decades - some believed they would age slower because of "space" and assuming their planet is quite different from earth, hence, having powers on earth.... like one theory was their planet had to have aggressive gravity to account for their abilities on other worlds - but science ruled that one out.

so, the lore changed...

Immortality and invincibility are not the same thing.

Immortality = Will he die from old age? Under a yellow sun, he won't.

Invincible = Can he be hurt? It takes a lot (Doomsday) or something special (kryptonite/magic from a magic user like Zatanna) but he can be. He's nearly invincible but not completely.
