She was raised very rich by a crooked father who had no character.

And so Ghislaine made a Devil’s bargain.

I would have guessed that she was already given the chance to plead guilty and get a reduced sentence in exchange for providing information to the FBI, and that she said no and that's why her case went to trial.

She would also have to provide evidence that prosecutors could actually use, not just her word. She's a convicted sex trafficker now, her word doesn't count for shit.

by Anonymous | reply 100 | December 30, 2021 8:44 AM |
R99 Not a lawyer but from how I understood it, enticement is about offering something to the victim to lure them e.g. gifts, a model job, education. Conspiracy is agreeing to someone else doing it and being in on it.
In Jane's case, she was offered money and contacts to get acting jobs, but I'm guessing that the jury didn't see evidence of Ghislaine herself doing it? I read Virginia's memoir and she says that right after Jeffrey fucked her and Jane, they flew to a production studio in LA where they had a meeting with Jane's agent and a producer for the soap she went on to act in for over 10 years. So that would be an example of how Epstein enticed Jane to travel for sex.

Andrew, a Blood Prince, will never spend a day in prison. He may have a terrible accident. Fatal. I'm thinking those small planes he favors or a helicopter, or possibly drowning? Maybe he'll fall of a boat. It is possible he may take his own life...with a little assistance. He always needs assistance... Now this was supposed to happen after Mummy dies, but we may have to move it up a bit.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | December 30, 2021 1:00 PM |
Nobody is going to hurt her in prison. Susan Smith sent her own two precious babies to their deaths in a purposefully submerged car. She's done fine in prison. And she's in a state prison. She was even caught fucking one of the male guards.
Federal prisons are a great deal different from state prisons. Federal prisons are more like college dorms. The closest Federal prison to me doesn't even have a wall or fence around it. Just some very tall hedges.
Maxwell didn't kill anyone or even physically mistreat anyone, and (as far as we know) neither did Epstein or any of the men they hooked teenage girls up with. From what I've read I get the feeling they wooed these girls and probably treated them quite well to get them to submit. They knew what they were doing. It doesn't appear any of these men were the types who were into violently raping females. Clearly that doesn't excuse what they ultimately did, but the way they did things will have a lot to do with the kind of sentence she receives. She's rich and she'll do just fine in prison. Considering the facts of the case I wouldn't be surprised if she receives a sentence that will allow her to get out one day with plenty of life left to live.
But I don't agree that she won't sing if she knows something that will get her a lighter sentence. I believe at some point she'll sing like a canary.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | December 30, 2021 1:03 PM |

I'd love it if her information is good enough that they'd put her in the witness protection program. Frankly, if she could just bring down Trump that would be good enough for me to want her sentence commuted. I don't really care about the other men suspected of tapping that young tail on Epstein Island. They did what most powerful men of great wealth do.
If we imprisoned every corporate bigwig or celebrity who has ever done something like this we'd have to build new prisons to house them all.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | December 30, 2021 1:27 PM |
R116, there are myriad things you're plain wrong about:
"Maxwell didn't ... physically mistreat anyone..." Yes, she did. She participated in having sex with a couple of these underage victims. That's physical mistreatment as defined by law.
"and (as far as we know) neither did Epstein or any of the men they hooked teenage girls up with." They had sex with underage girls, which, again, is a crime. It's rape, in fact, when they're underage.
"From what I've read I get the feeling they wooed these girls and probably treated them quite well..." Those are still serious crimes.
"It doesn't appear any of these men were the types who were into violently raping females. " It doesn't have to be "violent rape" to be a crime.
"Clearly that doesn't excuse what they ultimately did..." Yet that's exactly what you're doing--you're pooh-poohing and excusing all these crimes.
"She's rich and she'll do just fine in prison." Who thrives in prison?
"Considering the facts of the case I wouldn't be surprised if she receives a sentence that will allow her to get out one day with plenty of life left to live." She'll be in for at least 20 years minimum, which will make her 80. That's plenty of life left to live?
by Anonymous | reply 122 | December 30, 2021 1:27 PM |
"Considering the facts of the case..." R116, youhaven't considered the facts of the case. Not one bit have you. Certainly not with regard to what are considered indisputable crimes.

" neither did Epstein or any of the men they hooked teenage girls up with." That's qualifying rape.
"From what I've read I get the feeling they wooed these girls and probably treated them quite well to get them to submit." That's ignoring the fact that luring and enticement of minors to traffic them for sex are both crimes.
"It doesn't appear any of these men were the types who were into violently raping females..." That's qualifying rape in a big way.
Who, exactly, needs reading comprehension lessons? Looking at you, R124.

There is no distinction in the eyes of the law between having sex with an 8-year-old or having sex with a 14-year-old. Sex with any underage person is rape in the eyes of the law. No distinction needs to be drawn.

As for Dershowitz, how did he even make it onto the air for the BBC to have to apologize after the fact? He was accused by one of the victims, and he proceeded to go on TV and trash her in the name of what, exactly? Analysis of the trial? It's outrageous. The BBC should be held accountable by whatever means necessary in giving air time to someone who was so clearly tainted by this case.

R116, "wooed" is another word for "entice" and "lure," both of which are crimes.

I’m a woman and I’d like to know what type of emotional dysfunction led to her doing this for Epstein. I suppose the simplest explanation is that he was funding her lifestyle.
Honestly find her merry participation in his perversion fascinating.
I haven’t followed this story closely, but from what I’ve read, no one who associated with these two has plausible deniability that they were unaware of what was going on in that mansion/island. Not Clinton, Trump, Gates, Andrew, etc.

And if I were Dershowitz, I’d be staying far, FAR away from this case.

Epstein reminds me of an exaggerated version of those friends in high school and college whose sole goal in their life was to get laid anywhere they went. School, work, grocery store...every where is just another opportunity to get laid and learning, getting paid and buying food to eat is just besides the point. Where did this dude ever have to time to work or schmooze when it seems there was just always a plan in the works to get him someone young to abuse? It's insane. I think she was more smitten with him than he was with her but she was willing to play his reindeer games so he probably fucked her here and there to keep her happy.

by Anonymous | reply 178 | January 3, 2022 1:16 AM |
Was he good at sex? I would say no, based on what I've heard the victims say happened. Usually required them to massage him - feet, body, before finishing him off. BJs which Ghislaine told 'Kate' was 'a lot of work for her' and that was why she wanted to recruit other women. Sometimes penetration. He would do things like pull them on his lap and masturbate. He used sex toys on them and got pleasure out of it being 'painful' - 'Jane' says that he used back massagers as a sex toy on her which certainly would be painful.
All in all, it was sex that was about his pleasure with little to no concern for theirs, which I wouldn't call 'good sex'. They said that there was no emotional attachment - he encouraged them to have other boyfriends and he was fine with them using drugs as long as it wasn't on his planes or at his places. Virginia wrote in her memoir that she kept popping Xanax to get through the sex. 'Carolyn' said that she used drugs and alcohol similarly to black it out.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | January 3, 2022 5:48 AM |
Epstein mostly fapped during these encounters. Maybe he was afraid of potential pregnancies. No, he wasn't into pain. Back massagers are vibrators. It was common to have the girls sit on his face while he fapped Yes, I want to see the tapes
by Anonymous | reply 180 | January 3, 2022 6:49 AM |
R180 From what I've read he was into pain. More than one woman has talked about how he enjoyed hurting them. I read Virginia's memoir and she talks about a woman called Rina Oh who "loved bondage, whipping, hitting and cutting her sex partner with little sharp knives until they subdued (sic) to her punishment in agonizing pain." She says that Epstein was “absurdly taken” with seeing Oh use whips and toys on Roberts, and rented an apartment for Oh.
by Anonymous | reply 181 | January 3, 2022 7:12 AM |
Here's some more fuller quote about Rina Oh:
[quote]All I knew was that Jeffrey was absurdly taking into the appeal of watching us two interact, often with her acting as my mistress who would fondle me with an insurmountable amount of whips and toys. Then she would love to finish off every session by hitting me across my face with a hard blow from the back of her hand and sneering over my curled up body showing Jeffrey her ability to make others surrender to her extreme force.

Me. I still wonder if he's somehow still alive somewhere.
Related, here's some bonkers reporting about Randy Andy attempting to get off by claiming Epstein's agreements exempt him:
[quote] “Because Prince Andrew is a senior member of the British royal family, he falls into one of the expressly identified categories of persons, i.e., royalty, released from liability under the Release Agreement, along with politicians, academicians, businessmen, and others allegedly associated with Epstein,” Brettler wrote in a memo on Oct. 29.

by Anonymous | reply 190 | January 3, 2022 11:38 PM |
I'm not sure why you're saying it's bonkers, r190. Giuffre, on the basis of the same agreement, dropped all her claims against Dershowitz.
From your article, according to a former federal prosecutor:
[quote]“This is an extraordinarily broad release that, on its face, releases any claims that Ms. Giuffre Roberts has against anyone that she might have been able to sue as a result of sexual abuse by Epstein,” noted Epner, who is now of counsel with the firm Rottenberg Lipman Rich PC. “It releases all claims she ‘ever had or now ha[s] for, upon, or by reason of any matter … (whether known or unknown) from the beginning of the world to the day of this release.’”
[quote]“So, if Prince Andrew had run Virginia Giuffre Roberts over in a hit-and-run, that would be released too,” Epner added.
One wonders why Giuffre agreed to release Epstein and everyone else for a measly $500,000.

First, r191, not everyone views a half-million dollars as "measly."
Secondly, Virginia knows the ulterior and corrupt world of powerful men, and probably figured her court case could easily go against her.
Finally, she probably had received many a threat, subtle and not so.
by Anonymous | reply 195 | January 4, 2022 5:30 PM |
I wonder if she had a bad lawyer or no lawyer? I have read that a fair few women went to claim from the Epstein compensation fund without a lawyer and used one of *their* lawyers. 'Jane' testified in court that she had two personal injury lawyers and got $5m which she said was $2.9m after legal fees. Big legal fees but perhaps worth it after all. Gotta wonder if Giuffre is running out of money and that's why she's pushing the Andrew thing. Idk why that drongo doesn't just stop wasting millions of the Queen's money and embarrassing the royal family... he likely could have given her a bunch of money and a generic apology, and this would not still be in the news.

R203 No, it was left to whoever inherited Epstein's estate. Epstein did write a will but set it up so that the beneficiaries are private.
From a February 2021 CNN article:

I'm pretty sure that dumbass did not disclose this in the questionnaire otherwise the prosecution wouldn't have got ahead of the defense and called for an inquiry into it which the judge has granted. The prosecution knows how the jurors answered the questions.
I can definitely see another trial being ordered off the back of this because sexual abuse was central to this trial. If it was about something else relatively unrelated, it could be excused. I bet the conspiracy theorists are having a field day with this.

[quote]This news comes as the latest hearing in the case between Ms Giuffre and the Duke of York was called a “horrible day” for the duke by both legal and royal experts.
[quote]The judge overseeing Prince Andrew’s bid to dismiss a lawsuit from Ms Giuffre promised to hand down a ruling “pretty soon” after a heated hearing on Tuesday.
[quote]Mitchell Epner, a US former federal prosecutor said the case would not be dismissed following the court hearing led by Judge Lewis Kaplan and insisted that the Duke must settle, default or go to court.
[quote]During Tuesday’s hearing, Prince Andrew’s lawyers argued the 2009 agreement signed by Epstein and Ms Giuffre protects the Duke of York and should be grounds for dismissing her current suit against him.
[quote]The Duke is said to be “rushing” the sale of his chalet in the Swiss ski resort of Verbier to cover his mounting legal bills, and a report says his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, is actively part of his defence team.

[quote]...two jurors' exact answers on the questionnaire remain unknown, and neither has been accused of lying or incorrectly filling out their forms. Juror #50 retained an attorney on Wednesday, who did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
[quote]Valerie Hans, a law professor at Cornell University who has studied juries, told Insider there could be an innocent explanation for why a juror would incorrectly answer the questionnaire.
[quote]"If the juror did respond negatively to that question or if he failed to answer that question, it's possible he didn't notice it, or it's possible that he did not remember the details and recognize it as sexual abuse until sitting as a juror in this trial," Hans said.
[quote]If one or both Maxwell jurors did lie on the questionnaire, Huntley Taylor said they could face prosecution. Prosecutors with the Southern District of New York did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Let's see what the new woke, liberal, progressive, POC US attorney for NYC district does with this hot mess.

Ridiculous. The question was clear and prominent with boxes to tick. Either these guys answered truthfully or they did not.

More than one law professor has told Reuters that a new trial isn't guaranteed because overturning verdicts is something the law is very loath to do. That was somewhat surprising but bottom line - don't be surprised if Judge Nathan decides to have the verdict stay.

It's not so much his not checking the box but his statement that raising his personal history of abuse swayed the other jurors. I don't think Scotty was a shrinking violet in the jury room.

I'm glad Maxie is getting off. She got me off so many times. So many girls. Jeffrey lived right across the park from me, so it was easy to run over. Our buildings were so close. And he had a place right down the street from Mar-a-Lago. The same neighborhood. We worked it out. And he'd send me girls. That's the thing about real estate. It's all about location. New York or Florida, I was never far from Jeff.

Oh ffs...
"Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers believe they have found a third juror in her sex trafficking trial who lied about being abused, The Mail on Sunday can reveal. The socialite was last week given hope of a retrial when two jurors admitted using their experiences of sexual abuse to sway the jury. A source said Maxwell's legal team feel 'confident a third juror lied on their jury application. There are also questions over a fourth juror, so this thing is up in the air.'"

What a blow out if 4 jurors lied then swayed the other jurors with their stories during deliberations.

Judge has officially set sentencing for June but will investigate whether a new trial is needed in April.
And, I don't want to post this in the other Andrew thread because it's full of annoying royalists but this Substack piece has some good gossip about Andrew.

This is too good to not share too. (If you are familiar with media 'euphemisms', what's the betting 'close friend' means Andrew himself? Yeah, I don't have a lot of sympathy.

Alan Dershowitz should be in prison.

Oh look! It's the Jew-obsessed turds bumping a 5 month old thread for their morning wankfest. Posting a year old story didn't satisfy your Jew fix?

What you on about, r254? She was sentenced today, so the thread is very current. 20 years.
