His college girlfriend discovered that he was gay (she had seen his text messages, probably ones to Ryan) and decided not to marry him. Shayana had been his high school girlfriend, and he went back to her before starting his pro career, suggesting that he felt that he needed an official girlfriend. She may have been the one who wanted the child.
We know he told his attorneys he was gay. Two of them confirmed it. He had asked them to tell Shayana, because he didn’t think he could do it himself.
