I can understand a thread being closed when it reaches a certain number of posts, but feel the older threads should stay. Sometimes I go back and read an old thread that I searched for and want to continue the discussion, but once the thread is closed it doesn't allow me to do so. I think "Muriel" (or whoever runs datalounge) should unlock the old threads so we can enjoy them. How do the rest of you feel?
Closed threads of Datalounge yesteryear

Did an eldergay hiss at you, OP?

You can thank the 2015 troll for getting all of the old threads closed.

Please, please don't upset Muriel (God bless her in her majesty.) or she'll take down even more, OP.
Like a dragon in her lair sensitive to the footfall of a mouse a mile away.

Pay the $20 or whatever and start your own thread to continue the discussion. Link to thread in prison if you wish.

I can’t find the circa 2006-2007 shoe removal thread. There have been others since then, but that was the OG and it was magnificent.

Indeed. She’s gone Goebbels lately.

Earlier this year, all threads whose last post were from 12/31/2020 or earlier were automatically closed by Muriel. You can thank Defacto for that.
Personally, I'll miss the Shit Brickhouse Troll's Christmas thread, SBT's Whole Foods parking lot assault thread, the Ungrateful Niece with the Chicken a la King thread, and BILL TAYLOR's Thanksgiving cruise with Goofy thread being bumped.

Nope, you can thank the hysterical Karens who screamed bloody murder any time a thread older than a week was bumped.

In this case, R8 is right. People were weirdly triggered just because an old thread was bumped.
As it turns out, those old threads were more interesting than what we've had instead since the great Knotting.

I loved the Dangling Tendrils threads.

I hope the members of the Westboro Baptist Church demonstrate at R8 ‘s funeral

Or Joy Reid

Don't let the revisionists lie to you about the thread bumping, Davida/Defacto would bump hundreds of them sometimes when there was bad news for Trump, they'd do it for hours on end and you couldn't get to any current threads. They were often bumping old troll threads that had like one or two replies, stuff like "Pictures show Hillary in an ANKLE MONITOR while in PARIS!" or "Honest question: why aren't gays forced to apologize for causing AIDS?"
It wasn't someone who would just bump a handful of fun threads about Old Hollywood or classy buffets or what have you.

R14 this myth continues to be absolutely illogical and retarded.
Yes, I bumped threads.
No, it had nothing to do with Trump. You all are obsessed with him, not me.

Fortunately this thread is still around.
