Finishing the year strong
About 2 years ago, just before Covid hit, I was laid off from a job I really liked. The days following the lay off were some sad days indeed. Then, Covid hit, and finding a job became impossible. I started doing deliveries, which paid the bills, but didn't make me feel too great about myself.
In November, I was offered a job as an associate producer on a show. It would be sort of a trial for me, so I signed a contract that went to March. I was guardedly optimistic. Started the job after Thanksgiving, and LOVED it.
Today, I was put on a conference call with the two big bosses, and they extended my time. They said "You're no longer finished in March. You're welcome to stay indefinitely."
This was amazing news to get right before the holiday break! It's more money than I've ever made before, and it's a job that makes me feel good about myself and my place in the universe. I just wanted to thank everyone here for helping to get me through the last couple years by making me laugh sometimes.
Also, for anyone struggling, just keep at it. Things can turn around. There were times in these last two years when things seemed very bleak indeed. I hope for each and every one of you that good fortune smiles on you in 2022 as it has for me in 2021.

An unabashedly positive, feel good thread on the Datalounge! A rarity indeed.

I'm happy for you OP. After working as a temp for a year I was offered a permanent job position recently as well, and although I quite frankly don't enjoy the work that much the money is always needed. To celebrate it I just managed to finally buy myself a PS5 yesterday which quite possibly is a bigger feat than managing to stay employed.
Deathloop and Returnal here I come.

Great news OP. Merry Christmas and stay clean at work. No more pervy stuff like at the last job.

Spill, [R5]. Because OP didn't use the word 'pervy' in the thread text.

OP is PattiFan. I find it hard to believe he's got a full-time job, considering how often he's on here, being a troll and an asshole.

Patti _________? R14
I'm thinking probably not her

Good on you op! This type of wholesome positivity is indeed a rarity on DL, so much so I thought I was on reddit

R23 I was patient. And you know, delivering Love Organic Cafe to people night after night becomes boring. After too long a time.
Thank you!!! A Happy 2022 to you too sir!!

Congrats OP! Great post and great story, I'm so happy this has happened for you.
I went through a similar thing when covid hit, had to move back to my home state, things looking bleak - turned out to be the best decision ever, my old job asked me back, within 6 months I was promoted, earning more than I ever have with them in the past, and feel really part of a team. Get to see family all the time now. So I know how happy you must be feeling, and you are right in your advice to stick it out and things will get better. Congrats again!

R25 HA! So glad to hear I'm not the only one. I guess for some people, Covid kinda shook things up in a good way. Congrats to you too! Glad you get to see your family, it sounds important to you.
For years, it seemed "good" things would happen for me on a regular basis. But in the last couple years, I'd wondered if my luck had run out. If the well of good fortune had dried up. Would anything good happen for me again? And, it did.
One thing I haven't mentioned- my parents were very worried. And they're getting up there. A big fear of mine was that one of them might pass. I really hoped I would get it together in time for them to know I would be ok. Now, everyone is happy and healthy!

I don't know anything about the OP except that they tried to take over the "I'm Suicidal" thread with their own personal rants about lesbians always ruining the lives of gay men.
There is a lot on this forum that is regrettable but I found that to cross a line.
It is always so strange to me to see someone who has been despicable on one thread being hailed as a wholesome hero on another, but this is the way of DL.

I needed to read all this positivity this morning! I miss singing and performing so much and am looking for a new field in my mid 50’s which should be exciting but to be brutally honest.. I can’t imagine doing anything but performing. I admire your tenacity OP.. not easy to do menial jobs to pay the bills. I’ve done more than I would admit. I sometimes come here for a giggle and try to ignore the racists and Bots. I miss the 90’s when I found Datalounge sometimes it reminds me of a gay bar when the biridal partied would come in and just ruin the gay atmosphere that most of us were there to feel. I could be a fat lesbian and dance the night away with my best gay friend not a concerned that a straight man would body shame me. Datalounge can still be that virtual place for us. I hope you all enjoy whatever holidays you celebrate 🎉

R27 Haha I never said that. I said I wished lesbians would have their own board and leave gay men to the DL board. And I still wish that. I don't think lesbians ruin the lives of gay men. We do a fine job of THAT on our own.
