Heathens, infidels, pagans and non believers! What do you do on Christmas Day?

Do you feel left out?

by Anonymousreply 66December 31, 2021 7:45 PM

No - I celebrate the holiday with all the fun activities. I just st don’t go to church.

by Anonymousreply 1December 17, 2021 10:48 AM

Go out for Chinese food.

by Anonymousreply 2December 17, 2021 11:02 AM

Same thing you do during Pesach and Rosh Hashana.

by Anonymousreply 3December 17, 2021 11:16 AM

Christan DLers! Do you invite your non Christian friends for Xmas?

by Anonymousreply 4December 17, 2021 11:20 AM

Pagans don't tend to have any issues with most of Christmas Day.

by Anonymousreply 5December 17, 2021 11:20 AM

No. I'm not religious at all but have no issue with the symbols. I even have a nativity I inherited that I put out. It's a festive time of year that pagans started anyway.

by Anonymousreply 6December 17, 2021 6:23 PM

Fundies get mighty testy when you bring up the true roots of xmas.

by Anonymousreply 7December 17, 2021 6:25 PM

For the past twenty years, it's been just another holiday with everything closed for me. This year, I'll actually be with relatives.

by Anonymousreply 8December 17, 2021 6:33 PM

Working.

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2021 7:04 PM

Go to the movies.

by Anonymousreply 10December 17, 2021 8:09 PM

I light the dreidel on fire, dip the Christmas tree in oil, and eat the Kinara candle.

by Anonymousreply 11December 17, 2021 8:12 PM

Do you burn the yule log?

by Anonymousreply 12December 17, 2021 8:13 PM
Fundies get mighty testy when you bring up the true roots of xmas.

How do pagans feel about the Christianization of folk customs in the service of true religion?

by Anonymousreply 13December 17, 2021 8:17 PM

Here OP

A whole video to explain it to you.

I'm not a pagan R13 so I can't answer. What is "true religion"? Pagans consider themselves religious.

by Anonymousreply 15December 17, 2021 8:24 PM

All Pagan means is that you aren't a member of one of the main Abrahamic religions.

by Anonymousreply 16December 17, 2021 8:36 PM
Fundies get mighty testy when you bring up the true roots of xmas.

Maybe the people you speak to are just weary of your fixation on the subject.

by Anonymousreply 17December 17, 2021 8:43 PM

I once went to Steamworks on Christmas Eve. It was packed, and I had a very nice time.

by Anonymousreply 18December 17, 2021 8:45 PM

R17, no dear.

by Anonymousreply 19December 17, 2021 8:49 PM
one of the main Abrahamic religions.

R16 you mean one of the Great Religions.

by Anonymousreply 20December 18, 2021 12:31 AM

The local university's football squad all home for the holidays.

by Anonymousreply 21December 18, 2021 1:13 AM

I wank on Mary and Joseph in the nearest nativity scene I can find.

by Anonymousreply 22December 18, 2021 1:34 AM

It’s summer Downunder so it’s picnics, BBQ’s, swimming and beach cricket. We’re not religious…just a great excuse as usual to party.

by Anonymousreply 23December 18, 2021 1:52 AM

R23 You are godless down there, halfway to hell.

by Anonymousreply 24December 19, 2021 7:26 PM

R22, any nearby cat will seize the chance to snuggle on top of Baby Jesus in a nativity scene, whether displayed indoors or outdoors.

by Anonymousreply 25December 19, 2021 7:32 PM

I really don't care about the religious aspects any holidays, just enjoy them as rest days.

by Anonymousreply 26December 19, 2021 7:39 PM

You're going to hell.

by Anonymousreply 27December 19, 2021 7:45 PM

We are both atheist. I was raised Catholic, and my husband was raised Church of Scotland. We both found that religion didn’t have any relevance for us when we were growing up, and we left it behind. We have Christmas lunch and exchange presents. It is an excuse to have a really nice meal.

by Anonymousreply 28December 19, 2021 7:47 PM

Once when I went to the Post Office to buy Christmas stamps, the clerk (a young man with a pony tail) asked: "Do you want the religious kind or the heathen ones?".

by Anonymousreply 29December 19, 2021 8:04 PM

R24, yes we are Godless but life still goes on. Save your remarks for someone who cares

by Anonymousreply 30December 20, 2021 5:39 AM

Oh, you know. Oak Yule log, ivy as well as holly strewn about the mantles, nice bit of local farm-to-table meat to roast, sneaky Pentagram on the family Xmas tree, extra candle on the altar, chants to the two families of the Gods & Goddesses. The uje.

by Anonymousreply 31December 20, 2021 9:49 PM

We’ll make breakfast, open presents, relax and fuck.

by Anonymousreply 32December 20, 2021 9:53 PM

R18, maybe you can finally confirm - was Peter from The Folgers commercial there?

by Anonymousreply 33December 20, 2021 10:02 PM

No going to church? You're going to hell, Missy.

by Anonymousreply 34December 20, 2021 10:38 PM

As if Christmas has anything to do with Christianity these days.

Puhleeze OP, do you live under a rock?

by Anonymousreply 35December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

We burn MAGA hats and goat entrails over a replica of Hillary Clinton's vulva.

Then we fuck over the remains.

Then Indian food.

by Anonymousreply 36December 20, 2021 10:46 PM

Even if Jesus never existed, I like think of the Christmas season as a time for peace, giving, and good will. The Christmas lights are such a beautiful sight during the darkest point in the year. I always give to the underprivileged.

by Anonymousreply 37December 20, 2021 10:56 PM

Well smell you.

Just kidding. We need more people like you in this world.

by Anonymousreply 38December 20, 2021 11:29 PM

I don't even vaguely know anyone who goes to church? Certainly none of my friends or family go.

by Anonymousreply 39December 20, 2021 11:34 PM

Nothing. Ignore it. It's just another day on the calendar.

And I don't feel left out in the least.

by Anonymousreply 40December 21, 2021 12:18 AM

Masturbate. Hang out with like-minded friends. Enjoy life while ignoring the consumerism and religious hoopla. You know, the usual.

by Anonymousreply 41December 21, 2021 12:41 AM

=As if Christmas has anything to do with Christianity these days.=

As if Christianity had anything to do with Christ these days.

by Anonymousreply 42December 21, 2021 1:20 AM

People are keeping him in Christmas. At least that's what they're bumper stickers and lawn signs say.

by Anonymousreply 43December 21, 2021 1:32 AM

Christians: do you invite the infidels and non believers to your Christmas celebrations? Do they accept?

by Anonymousreply 44December 21, 2021 7:53 AM

R44, my Christian in-laws always invite me and I always decline with thanks (plus some made-up excuse because I don't want to hurt their feelings). My late husband used to join them because he felt obligated and the food was good -- aside from having to hold hands around the table while the host said grace, he wasn't subjected to their religion during dinner (and he went home ASAP).

by Anonymousreply 45December 21, 2021 12:28 PM

Your late husband is in heaven with His other angels. I'm not sure if you will join him though.

by Anonymousreply 46December 21, 2021 1:07 PM

Since Christmas was stolen from the pagans, including their "Christmas" tree, I would think believers would be less comfortable with the holiday.

by Anonymousreply 47December 21, 2021 2:14 PM

My poorly-educated Tory parents mockingly refer to the turkey as a ‘sacrifice’ when I’m around. I just ignore them.

by Anonymousreply 48December 21, 2021 6:06 PM

R48. I LOLed. That's pretty sophisticated of them.

by Anonymousreply 49December 21, 2021 6:46 PM

Well, the Solstice has gone by, but there’s still Yule to enjoy, and then in a few weeks time it’s Wassail.

So I wish all my Pagan DL brethren & sistren a healthy and tranquil and safe and comfortable Yuletide❄️☃️🎄🐗🍻here’s to another year of gay heathen fuckery!

by Anonymousreply 50December 25, 2021 12:35 AM

As a holiday gift, my sister gave me a Green Man wall ornament for my altar space. Best present I got, chuffed with him☺️🌳

I read a quote saying:

[bold]Asking Atheists if they celebrate Christmas is like asking people who don't want kids if they have sex.[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 52December 26, 2021 11:12 PM

R52, that quote assumes that celebrating Christmas is fun, like sex -- worth doing for its own sake even if meaningless. That assumption is false for many of us.

by Anonymousreply 53December 26, 2021 11:26 PM

Oh ferfucksake R53.

Not everyone thinks having sex is fun or worth doing for its own sake even if meaningless either R53. Right? Right? I mean, let's discuss how the obvious jokey quip isn't 100% totally accurate. It's very important!!

Honestly, just because some obviously jokey or sweeping generalization/quip doesn't apply to you, you don't need to whine about it. No wonder nobody want's you around when they're trying to have fun times.

by Anonymousreply 54December 26, 2021 11:40 PM

R54 sounds like a guy who needs to get laid.

by Anonymousreply 55December 26, 2021 11:57 PM

I sacrificed a couple of goats and then worshipped some snakes and fire.

by Anonymousreply 56December 27, 2021 12:23 AM

Happy Festivus! For the rest of us!

by Anonymousreply 57December 29, 2021 8:48 AM

No, not a surprise to non believers.

A mere mortal could not perform the miracles that we know that Jesus did.

by Anonymousreply 59December 29, 2021 8:05 PM

No, why should I? Christmas is a Pagan holiday.

by Anonymousreply 60December 29, 2021 8:38 PM

I used to go to the Christmas Eve services in NYC with my Jewish friends we loved the music and pomp and circumstance in the services. The best one was at St. John the Divine on 112st. they had 2 organs one in front by the altar and one in back by the doors, they would play the Toccata and Fugue by Bach. Each would play a part of the piece and reply to each other, it was amazing.

by Anonymousreply 61December 31, 2021 11:49 AM

Religion has inspired some great music and art. No doubt it has also inspired some people to behave well. Whether it overall has done more good than harm is impossible to prove, but I have an innate distrust for it.

by Anonymousreply 62December 31, 2021 12:06 PM

We Pagans are the real good guys. Our God are herbivores 🐐

by Anonymousreply 63December 31, 2021 12:12 PM

"on 112st"

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 64December 31, 2021 5:30 PM
A mere mortal could not perform the miracles that we know that Jesus did.

How do you the accounts of miracles are true?

by Anonymousreply 65December 31, 2021 5:42 PM

^^^How do you know...?
