Are you a gamer?

I'm not a hardcore gamer, but do enjoy playing videogames here and there. I'm specially fond of the Zelda and Mario franchises.

by Anonymousreply 49August 25, 2024 3:14 PM

There are already threads.

by Anonymousreply 1December 14, 2021 11:11 AM

I used to be a hardcore gamer, back in the nineties. Mario, Zelda, and RPGs. Haunted the gaming forums, and hosted one myself for a while. As the games changed, I lost interest. Oh, for the good old days.

I'm a fashionista, I'm obssesed with fashion, my faves are Gucci and Versace.

by Anonymousreply 3December 14, 2021 11:25 AM

No. I'm an adult.

by Anonymousreply 4December 14, 2021 11:28 AM

I'll the second the preference for older games. The simpler and less realistic ones are more fun to play. Games have lost the sense of humor and satirical bent that they used to all have. I miss flash games.

by Anonymousreply 5December 14, 2021 11:29 AM

Yes, World of Warcraft, on and off for the past 10 years. Currently playing TBC Classic and it's fun to relive that.

-I am an adult with a job formerly considered prestigious btw.

by Anonymousreply 6December 14, 2021 11:32 AM

The more in depth a game is, the more enjoyable. A good game should have at least 120 gameplay hours required to complete and also have replay value.

The stupid old stalkers that say they don't play games because "they're adults" need to fuck someone their own age.

by Anonymousreply 7December 14, 2021 11:33 AM

The only game I play is Pokemon Go.

by Anonymousreply 8December 14, 2021 11:34 AM

My TikTok boyfriend has become a Twitch player so I’ve been following him there now and been exposed to this world on an advanced level for the first time. There’s a really cool group of groupies and it’s been entertaining interacting with them and him and we have lots of in jokes and running gags. I guess a lot of it can be toxic, but this is great fun with lots of community, and there’s a handful of people who drop many subs during a game, he’s usually made between $250-$300 every time he plays. So far it’s been about five different games, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I’m e young it a lot and it’s replacing a lot of my streaming viewing.

R6 Adjunct?

by Anonymousreply 10December 14, 2021 11:46 AM

R9 That's called a para social relationship. It's not healthy to fixate on someone like that.

by Anonymousreply 11December 14, 2021 11:47 AM

I hold world records for two levels of Candy Crush.

When I first start WoW, I made it to Lt General on my server.

I play a few times a week now. I want to get aPS5 . I’m replaying Saints Row the3rd right now. I love video games and I’m an adult.

by Anonymousreply 14December 14, 2021 1:00 PM

I don't care for them myself. To each their own. To me they are just a waste of time. The virtual worlds they create now scare me with how realistic they are. I get the appeal, real life is scary enough, but I'd rather not get sucked into them.

by Anonymousreply 15December 14, 2021 1:06 PM

R15 I play a elven druid and get to explore a beautiful world. Nothing real life about this - it is an escape from the real world.

by Anonymousreply 16December 14, 2021 1:08 PM

I love RPGs. Right now, I'm playing Shin Megami Tensei V with Tales of Arise and Pokemon Brillant Diamond up next.

by Anonymousreply 17December 14, 2021 1:24 PM

Bump

by Anonymousreply 18December 25, 2021 7:47 PM

Used to play Doom until my eyes turned red and all of my university reports were well overdue, but haven't played anything since the 90s.

by Anonymousreply 19December 25, 2021 7:51 PM

Not in the conventional sense. I like playing retro games on an emulator and watching playthroughs on Youtube. Played occasionally during the PS2 era but have no nostalgia from that period. Haven't kept up with anything since.

by Anonymousreply 20December 25, 2021 7:52 PM

I loved it back in the day. I do think about getting back into it.

by Anonymousreply 21December 25, 2021 7:57 PM

Used to like the Witcher games but everything keeps crashing on my computer now. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 22December 25, 2021 8:41 PM

Tales Of Arise was fun. Was a nice change from Bersaria / The-other-aria.

Right now playing Dragonball Kakerot. Isn't horrible.

by Anonymousreply 23December 25, 2021 8:44 PM

R22 I was thinking of buying Witcher 3. Should I?

by Anonymousreply 24December 25, 2021 9:25 PM

I have loved video games ever since I was a kid. I used to be addicted to Donkey Kong as a middle schooler. I wasted so much money on that game. In the 90s I finally bought a Nintendo 64 and enjoyed Mario 64 and a Star Wars game. Then I stopped playing for a few years and then started playing PS4. I loved the game Horizon Zero Dawn! I can’t wait for the second version to come out at the end of February.

I’m so old I used to play one of these:

Yes, currently playing "Shadow Tactics", a wonderful RTS (real-time strategy) game set in Edo-era Japan.

by Anonymousreply 26December 25, 2021 9:34 PM

i used to play the Sims, but mostly just to build houses

by Anonymousreply 27December 25, 2021 9:36 PM

Honestly r24, wish I knew. People seem to love it, but I can't get through Witcher 2 without endless crashes and bullshit these days. Not sure what changed. This computer seemed to be fine with most games a year ago, but now, it just won't finish most.

I'm liking Civilization V okay, and that seems to work fine, but I can't say I love it.

by Anonymousreply 28December 25, 2021 9:45 PM

R28 Do you think Witcher would have the same problems if played on a PS4?

by Anonymousreply 29December 25, 2021 11:59 PM

Yep. Both of us are. He's currently playing Shin Megami Tensei V that I gifted him, and Trials of Mana remake. I'm presently playing a mix of various phone games (rpg/gacha) and the shooter Outriders to zone out. But I have quite likely.. over 500...1000? valid games I could enjoy that I have entitlements towards; typically on Steam and Epic game stores. Helps that there's some sort of giveaway every couple of weeks (or days, for Epic's case this week), and there's great bundles when your eyes are open for them. I will never ever run out of games to pick out. We're also exploring a bizarre game called Paradise Killer together.

I really want to make the time for more Final Fantasy XIV.

I wasn't living in the 80s but I like a few games from then. I was all over the classic 90s games, helped by a family member gifting a hacked PS1 with dozens of burned CDs for it, and later emulator play (SNES). My owned platform order not counting handheld/mobile went: PS1 -> PS2 -> XB360 (didn't get PS3, was gifted XB) -> PC/XB360Elite (some WiiU through partner) --> PC (some Switch through partner). Partner is Nintendo through and through. I'm open to getting a PS5 but I've still seen no reason to, and Sony seems more open nowadays to eventually allowing release of any exclusive to PC.

by Anonymousreply 30December 26, 2021 12:21 AM

Has anyone here played the ANNO games? I'd like to try ANNO 1800 but it's still a bit pricey with all the DLC packs.

by Anonymousreply 31April 11, 2022 9:42 PM

I used to love Grand Theft Auto. Playing it really channeled my anger and frustration at the time.

by Anonymousreply 32April 11, 2022 9:44 PM

You are standing at the end of a road before a small brick building.

Around you is a forest.

A small stream flows out of the building and down a gully.

by Anonymousreply 33April 11, 2022 9:46 PM

More of that Zork shit, R33.

by Anonymousreply 34April 11, 2022 9:52 PM

My family didn't have the money to buy gaming systems when I was a kid and then I was broke all through college, so I didn't grow up playing video games and though they seem like they might be a fun way to pass the time, I have no idea where to start as an adult.

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2022 10:00 PM

R35, what genres of fiction do you gravitate towards?

Are you looking to feel wonder, or accomplishment? Or to make online friends?

by Anonymousreply 36April 11, 2022 10:17 PM

I’ve been playing off and on for years. Depending on how busy I am. During Covid I picked it up again. Right now I’m attempting to play Elden Ring on PS4. I’ve never played any of these Souls games before. It’s quite a learning curve for me because I’m older and plus I have not played a melee game in a long time. Sometimes I get a little frazzled/confused when there’s so many buttons to push for different fighting combinations. I’m not as quick as I used to be that’s for sure!

by Anonymousreply 37April 11, 2022 10:30 PM

R37 any way to set up hot keys?

by Anonymousreply 38April 11, 2022 10:31 PM

I am a racer. Racing games only for me.

by Anonymousreply 39April 11, 2022 10:34 PM

Yes, I'm a nazi. Any of you fags play Risk of Rain??

by Anonymousreply 40April 11, 2022 10:36 PM

I miss Fallout 76. Now those are words I never thought I’d utter.

I like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on PC and also playing Octopath Traveler on Nintendo Switch

by Anonymousreply 44July 14, 2022 7:11 PM

I got a Nintendo Switch on Black Friday. Got Animal Crossing New Horizons and Zelda: breath of the wild on sale for a really good deal, $29 each. Got a cute SpongeBob restaurant simulator game for $2 in the eShop. It’s been a lot of fun and something different than the usual music practice. Mario games are expensive though.

by Anonymousreply 45December 6, 2022 12:47 PM

I, myself, am not.
