HBOmax AND JUST LIKE THAT ...

I think it was a proper update on the lives of these women. It does get uncomfortable at points, but it is easy to recognize that my discomfort has much more do with my own discomfort with my aging than it has to do with these women aging. They don't shy away from the fact that everyone is older now.

I won't spoil it beyond that.

I like all of the new characters except for Sara Ramirez. She doesn't fit the tone of the show.

My grade: B+.

What was said about Samantha?

Are you a tv critic? Was the show screener sent to critics beforehand? Thanks!

The reviews are bad.

by Anonymousreply 3December 9, 2021 2:05 PM

R3, the reviews are actually mixed (which isn't great). The biggest takeaway seems to be that it's very serious. I remember the show being witty--it appears that this version can be relentlessly sad. It might be good tv, and it might be more realistic than froth, but it's not what people want from this show.

r1 I'm starting it now. It's addressed in the very 1st scene. They run into Bitsy (Nathan Lane's beard) and Miranda & Charlotte (Carrie conspicuously says nothing) explain that she moved to the UK.

Oh thank god, a 10th thread about the exact same topic

I'll watch it after all 10 episodes have been released. Netflix is the only streamer that does it right in terms of releasing TV series, i.e., all all the same time.

Netflix time releases some things. I know they did with the Britishbakers...not to be confused with the Sugarbakers.

He is married to a woman. You could have knocked me over with his feather boa.

by Anonymousreply 11December 9, 2021 11:13 PM

That poor woman, being enlisted to help her husband live out his paraphilia 24/7.

by Anonymousreply 12December 9, 2021 11:15 PM

I think the whole thing with Samantha is very smartly handled so far, though it does make you pine for a surprise appearance in the last episode.
