I had read B-Boy Blues when I was in college - it was such a big deal to me as a black gay man. I preferred James Earl Hardy to E Lynn Harris, though they are both important writers to me. I just watched the movie and thought it was really good. The few reviews I saw weren't great (it wasn't heavily reviewed) and having Jussie's name attached to it probably hurt it in the long run. It's only streaming on BET+ right now (you can get a free 7-day trial). I'd recommend checking it out.
