In 1994, Larry Eyler, who was already in prison, told his attorney he killed the "John Doe," later identified as Lewis, and 20 other young men and boys, according to the release.

Sounds like they were hitchhikers.

He was hawt and probably gay!š

Larry Eyler was well known among the gay community of Indianapolis. Did any of you eldergays encounter this guy?

R5, he was bumped off not just bumped.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | December 3, 2021 5:29 PM |
I hope Larry Eyler was tortured in prison, as he most certainly deserved the death penalty.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | December 3, 2021 5:48 PM |
He died of AIDS so it was long and painful at least.

The caption under the picture says he was killed in 1963 so my first thought was...that photo doesn't look like it is of a teen taken in the early 60s...then I realized it is a typically careless typo that we used to not see often when there were real editors working in newsrooms.

I guess this could've been me as I hitchhiked in Indiana as a teen but fortunately I'd already pretty much stopped doing it a few years before this incident. I mostly did it around the Northside on Indy to get to various places since I didn't have access to a car and bus service often sucked. I could tell the guys who picked me up were often horny and hinted about things but were too afraid to come right out and say what they were looking to do but I liked the attention.

R2 wrote- "Sounds like they were hitchhikers."
This guy was according to reports but not all of the victims were.
Eyler, was a handyman who worked in Indianapolis, Terre Haute and Chicago. Two days after he died, Eyler's attorney announced her client had confessed to 22 killings. He told his attorney that he had killed Lewis, though he didn't know his name, and said he had picked him up on US 41 near Vincennes when Lewis was hitchhiking in November 1982.

It's amazing they were able to identify him since all they had was some clothing and bone fragments.

R8 I know that's supposed to make me happy but considering the shit ton of people I like (though admittedly in most cases never met) that died of that same disease that isnt exactly leaving me with the fuzzie wuzzies.
He should have gone out like Dahmer tbh.

Also the guy was beautiful. RIP.

It is a cruel goddamned universe that takes someone's 19 year old son away from them without them knowing where he is. I really hate stories like this. It is such an awful thing for a mother, father, sibling, or spouse to have to bear- to have a loved one vanish. I imagine for a time it's all you think about. Then, you likely start thinking about it less, and then feel terrible guilt over that fact.

IIRC Lewis's mother died in 2020. So close.š¢

R16 Awful. I can see why people want to believe in heaven so badly. It would be nice to think they are together again. Ugh.

This victim was a black male between 15-18. He remains unidentified.

So sad. Someone that good looking missed out on a lot of fun and relationships in his life.

I think he was mentioned in the book Last Call, which was about a serial killer that claimed several victims in NYC and near Philly, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 14, 2022 9:11 PM |
R19, I hope you realize there is more to life than sex and relationships with other men.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 14, 2022 9:14 PM |
I lived down the street from Larry. Word on the street was he was creepy and to stay away. Thatās all the input I have.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 14, 2022 9:25 PM |
R22. Thereās more to life than literalism.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 14, 2022 9:30 PM |
R22, we are designed to screw and procreate. Men need sex. Testosterone dictates it. Nature doesnāt give a shit about feelings or money. Itās a necessity.

[quote] Lewis, who went by Bill, was born on Oct. 13, 1963, and was described by his siblings as a quiet person.
I was born in the same year as the victim. When I think over all that I experienced since 1983 (the year he went missing), it makes me cry for the life he never got to live.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 14, 2022 9:34 PM |
R25 then you could have been a canine! Arenāt you the lucky one!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 14, 2022 9:43 PM |
What a gorgeous face.

The idea that there are men who believe that they have the right to torture and murder others, male or female, purely for an hour of sadistic sexual pleasure, remains unfathomable to me. For the killer it was simply a laugh on a Tuesday night -- for the victim's family it is a nightmare that lasts forever. Takes my breath away.

They just identified another one of his victims.
The victim, who had been known as āAdam Doeā for the last several decades, has now been identified as Keith Lavell Bibbs. Bibbs was 17 years old at the time of his disappearance from Chicago in 1983.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 26, 2023 7:20 PM |
Damn, another victim was only age 17. RIP Keith.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 26, 2023 7:52 PM |
Was just about to post about Keith. RIP.

Serial Killers are so hot right now. Makes you kinda nostalgic instead of lamenting all these new fangled mass shooter serial killers with no attention spans. Terrible all around. But I am glad these things are getting some closure.
