R22 Well supposedly the suicide rate of women has vastly increased over the last 15 years or so. The designer Lwren Scott also hung herself. There's no way of knowing why spade and the Kennedy woman offed themselves but I do think that callous treatment from others is way more of a suicide factor than people want to talk about. I remember quite clearly reading (it may have been in Hugh Sidey's book on JFK, written before JFK was killed) that RFK Sr. worried the RFK Jr was gay because of his interest in flowers and other flora. So, the dad insisted the Jr focus on animals, rather then plants.

I had a couple of unpleasant encounters with RFK Jr when I was working at McGovern HQ in 1972, and he showed up to sell drugs to someone. He was incredibly rude to me because I didn't know where the person was who he was supposed to meet there. He yelled at me that I didn't know my job, but I was just a volunteer who happened to be in the room when he appeared looking for that person.

Years later I had a friend who was attending Law School at UVA with him, and when I went to a party he showed up and was thoroughly obnoxious. Granted, he was in the middle of his heroin addition, but still.

My step-brothers attended Georgetown Prep along with several Shriver brothers, and they said the Shrivers were OK. Then recently I learned that one of my stepbrothers also attended with the alkie Supreme Court Justice, and he wouldn't say anything to me about that when I asked him.

I remember reading that after some incident at Hyannis Port that involved the young Kennedy cousins, Sarge Shriver took his son aside. Told him that he was at a turning point in his life and that as his father, Shriver was pulling him back.
