Elizabeth Holmes, 37, breaks down in tears during her fraud trial
by Anonymous | reply 94 | April 13, 2023 12:01 PM |
She won't get off.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 30, 2021 4:09 AM |
I'm not surprised that her lawyers are pushing this angle. They know that the jury doesn't want to be the villains in some idiotic Netflix documentary down the road titled " The Scapegoating of Elizabeth Holmes" gobbled up by the brain dead public. I wonder how long before the ninnies at Slate, Huffpo, et al start pumping out histrionic finger wagging articles with titles like " No, You Don't Get to Mock Elizabeth Holmes Abuse" or " Yes, Elizabeth Holmes Can Be A Bad Person and An Abuse Victim". All written with the same tone of sanctimonious outrage that the media never seems to work up for truly powerless victims.

She was a slay queen girlboss feminist icon - until she get's caught. Now it's cry and blame a brown guy for everything.

Texts between Holmes and ex-BF, who she claims was abusive, etc. Not very compelling, IMO.

When these stories first came out - Elizabeth Holmes went on a media blitz blaming on Sexism, saying if she were a man, no one would be questioning her "invention"

That’s sad, dear, but nothing to do with the multiple counts of fraud you committed.

Straight men went gaga for her looks. As per r8 she’s a pretty goofy looking specimen with a peaches and cream blonde colouring.

Oooh the classic white girl triple P defense: Psycopathic Pussy Pass.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 3, 2021 8:44 AM |
Apparently, Holmes is still on the witness stand, getting cross-examined. According to this article, she's doing pretty good making her points. We'll see if the jury buys what she's saying. Part of her defense is that Sunny, co-defendant and former BF, was abusive, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 6, 2021 8:23 PM |
What voice is she using in court?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | December 6, 2021 8:26 PM |
All I want to know is if she’s stopped doing her Mia Sorvino voice.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | December 6, 2021 8:42 PM |
They need to keep drumming the fact that she put thousands of lives at risk, abuse or not- at specific timeframes where she was perpetuating LIES that her invention was viable, independent of relying upon other instruments and accurate. Then, she also went against advisors within her company , hid the truth, and was cobbling together good faith right up until the end with lies and deceit.
None of it was true.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 6, 2021 9:19 PM |
It’s good that she’s finally discovered conditioner.
Although the bad makeup and fried hair of her Theranos days may have all been part of the grift as well-“I’m too smart and busy to spend time on my looks”.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 6, 2021 10:53 PM |
Here's an official US courts website where we can track what's going on with the case / trial.
Last activity was on 12/09/21, when "joint proposed jury instructions" were court-filed.
You can click on the document titles (not the Adobe icons) to get PDF copies of court-filed documents.
Closing arguments, I think, should start tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 15, 2021 8:23 PM |
I listened to a legal expert opine that the pre-Christmas deliberations could benefit the defendant as people aren’t in a punitive mood.
But how many times sis she answer questions by claiming not to recall. She was so obviously lying. I’d like to think the jury will see that quite clearly.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 15, 2021 8:28 PM |
I won't be surprised if the jury falls for her sob story, but she is guilty of premeditated fraud, absolutely.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 15, 2021 8:29 PM |
She's a grifter. String her up!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 15, 2021 8:29 PM |
She will do approximately 3 months and no longer. Mark my words.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 16, 2021 2:04 AM |
She's a total scammer who endangered lives with this crazy con.
But she did con the DeVos and Murdoc families out of many millions, and that makes me hate her a little less.
She specifically targeted billionaire families for investments—the American oligarchy.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 16, 2021 2:12 AM |
She’ll get 49 months. She’ll serve 2.3 years.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | December 16, 2021 2:57 AM |
She just had a baby, she said she was raped and manipulated by her boyfriend/business partner. She just popped out a baby. She's blonde and rich and an expert con artist. She's not going to prison. It only takes one juror to find reasonable doubt.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | December 16, 2021 2:59 AM |

I’m going to re-up my prediction that she goes to jail for this and her little “reformed new mom” act doesn’t play with the jury. She’s a snake.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | December 21, 2021 6:52 PM |
If you were on the jury and you were convinced Holmes is a fraud but she promised you stock in her next big con business if you let her off, would you let her off? Easy millions!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | December 21, 2021 6:52 PM |
No way, because you’ve just spent a month (?) learning that she’s a con artist and not to be trusted.
Juries are just as ornery as the rest of us. They don’t like her obvious falsity, it will make them think she sees them as just another group of people to con.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 21, 2021 6:55 PM |
R40 Obviously, that's exactly how she sees this and any future jury. Her whole defense is a transparent con, and some attorneys think it will have been effective in emotionally manipulating a hung jury.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 21, 2021 6:56 PM |
What's her sexual abuse got to do with her fraud?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 21, 2021 7:45 PM |
Her boyfriend (who was also charged & is pending trial) was a bigwig in her company. Her spin on the tale was that he pressured her into doing things that she would not have done on her own (my synopsis). IIRC, their (Holmes and BF's) trials got severed.

She reminds me of porn star Sasha Grey. Whose shtick was having public hair, dressing like a Sofia Coppola character, watching Criterion Collection movies and tweeting herself holding copies of Dostoevsky on porn sets. Her persona was I’m Not Like Other Porn Stars.
Until she later sued her ex-fiancé Ian Cinnamon (real name) for tricking her into doing porn, apparently telling her that he worked for the CIA and she would be his cover.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | December 22, 2021 10:37 AM |
Public hair, I suppose it would be, wouldn't it?
Sasha was in a couple of episodes of Entourage, and was terrible. Hated that she was with Vince, should have been Turtle.

I'm a Lesbian and thankfully my younger brothers as well as myself aren't those cowardly type of people who are predators nor abusive types. I'm serious. We were all raised to believe that abusive types and predators are cowards and scum of the Earth because our (late) paternal grandfather was one and thankfully our dad didn't let that sort of pattern repeat itself.
With all that being said, I do not believe for an instant that Elizabeth Holmes was lead down a bad path in a predatory nor abusive manner at all. She is a con artist who truly risked other peoples health (that's the most important thing to me at least) and finances (I really could give a crap about that deep down) with her grift. Her gender and her being a bottle blonde is of no relevance nor importance to her being a con artist if not an actual sociopath. I could care less if she had a supposed secret love affair with her co conspirator and if he was a bottle blonde like her she wouldn't use that as an excuse for the jury. He's no better than her, but still, man!
Elizabeth Holmes and her fake ass monotone baritone can go to Hell. She had a child in hopes of playing the jury for a fool and that is truly sick. I just can't stand her because I remember reading that she tried to con one of her University professors with what wound up becoming her Theranos nonsense and the professor let her have it but in a professional manner so she had a fit and ran with her con. Where was her abusive secret boyfriend/coconspirator then? She had yet to meet him. Later on, she meets him, and they got in on a ton of money together for some time and whatever else.
Fuck her. I'm not a doctor or nurse or anything. Hell, English is not even my first language and I still suck at it sometimes. But, anyone who knows a diabetic knows that anything past a pin prick of blood calls for a centrifuge and whatever else. She had a professor at her University even try to get that through to her and she didn't care. And, her University was a very highly regarded one. Let her rot in prison and her coconspirator as well.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | December 30, 2021 7:24 PM |
I'm not a lesbian nor am I a woman, and I share R54's sentiments.
Holmes conned very wealthy people out of hundreds (?) of millions of dollars...which is kind of funny in a way, and also sick in a way. I don't care that Betsy DeVos's family was tricked into giving away millions of dollars they acquired causing harm to people. I do think it's a sign of a sick economic system when many parties like the DeVoses are happy to throw around millions without even looking into whether the people they invest their money into are legitimate.
I do care that Holmes conned individuals, who trusted her lab (most people have no idea what blood labs their work is done by—they assume Quest or LabCorp does it all) with their wellness. That's a really boldly sick thing to do and it deserves prison time whether or not anyone died as a result.
I care that physicians believed the labs were legitimate. That's scary, too.
This trial was about Holmes conning people. She conned patients with potential life-or-death results, and she conned wealthy investors by falsifying documents with Pfizer and other pharmaceutical logos that implied endorsements and she implied the US military was using these tests on the ground in Afghanistan "with potential to save lives."
Was she raped in college? Only she and maybe one other person know for sure, and it's irrelevant to the case and should not have been accepted as part of her testimony.
Was her boyfriend/business partner emotionally abusive? It appears based on evidence I heard that both were invested in their own wacky positive-thinking cult of two and the nature of their relationship is likewise irrelevant. If a man were beaten by his boyfriend for years and then shot a woman in the head, he would still be liable for murder. I am bothered that Holmes and her attorneys are using alleged abuses as her defense and if I were a woman I think I would be even angrier about it because she's playing a battered-woman card in the hope it will be accepted as a get-out-of-jail-free card regardless of her malicious activities. That's the sickest part of this case to me—not the crime so much as the defense of it.

Sentencing won't take place until late September! She's walking around free until then. The thinking behind delaying her sentencing has to do with waiting for the outcome of her boyfriend's trial. I don't know how the outcome of his trial would factor into sentencing Elizabeth; she's been found guilty of multiple charges. She will probably not see one day behind bars.

The courts / judges are supposed to avoid disparate sentencing. I'm not sure if Holmes & the ex-BF got the exact same charges. Not even sure whether they were, originally, co-defendants and got separate trials. If the ex-BF is found guilty, then he too will need to be sentenced. The judge maybe wants to have each of their sentences makes sense, when compared.
I.e., not ten years for one person and 6 months for the other (if they get convictions for the same charges).
That's my guess.
