Because I am really too lazy to fill my tires with air, wash my windshield and fill my own gas. I'd pay more for someone to do it.
I miss the days of full-service gas stations

I pulled up to a pump in Washington state and the guy said it was the full service pump and it was 40 cents more per gallon. I can wash my own windshield for that.

I think there is a state that the whole state is full serve by law. Maybe Oregon?

Yes, Oregon, although rural Oregon gas stations are now allowed to have self-serve. But I'm in Portland and haven't pumped my own gas in years except on road trips. (It's not full-serve though, it's more like bare-minimum serve - no one has washed my windshield in years either.)

Isn’t NJ just the same as Oregon then? NJ doesn’t allow anyone to pump their own gas, but the mandatory service they provide at the pump is not full service.
