Punching down is subjective.

by Anonymousreply 3November 27, 2021 12:48 AM

what does "punch down" even mean?

by Anonymousreply 4November 27, 2021 5:31 AM

R4 people/groups that are perceived as powerless.

Making fun of the Presidents and celebrities, in contrast, are perfect examples of “punching up,” why that’s historically been the safest territory for comedians.

Reality stars also lose goodwill/popularly when they start to punch down too much (see Dorinda/RHONY)
