OP's title is misleading but with the way the world is regressing I can see something like this happening, this past Monday a report was released saying the world is becoming more authoritarian.

And there must be something in the water in Australia because this past summer is became illegal for women to hold single sex events in Tasmania. This is only the law in one state, so far, but it's still ridiculous so I would not be the least bit surprised if this homophobic "religious ethos" bill gains traction and either passes or some kind of compromise is met.

I agree with this statement from the article but for the most part the article is very vague and uses athletes' homophobic comments on social media as an example of cancel culture but that doesn't have anything to do with religious freedom.
