How do you deep fry a turkey? 🦃💥🔥

Have you ever done it. Tried it for the first time tonight and I think it went well, aside from dying in a grease fire.

Sadly, the type of injuries resulting from this cooking method are through the roof. You wouldn't believe the disasters some home cooks have suffered while attempting to lower and lift a huge turkey out of a giant pot of searing peanut oil.

I guess many of the turkeys were well done. What a shame.

Too dangerous and too expensive to do at home. Just order it from a good ‘cue joint in the ‘hood. Such as Loreto’s in L.A. - whenever they reopen.

It's one of those "Only in the South" things.

These people know it's dangerous and that the oil can catch fire. You'd think they'd go to the trouble of buying a fire extinguisher and keeping it close by, instead of letting their garage or the cabinets around the oven catch fire.

It's less of an issue if you use an indoors electric turkey fryer.

Oil fires can spread real fast!

The videos taken inside the home are terrifying to watch.

They were telling her to save the turkey. Reach your arms into the fire and get the turkey!

Especially around flamers.

Once hot oil lands on someone, you can't get it off. The hot oil will keep burning through the clothing and skin, even to the bone. No fire extinguisher will help if you get hot oil on human skin. It has to keep burning through the skin. No joke. That's why it's not a good risk to take. Also, many people cook deep fry turkeys in huge pots that are easy to over turn, creating a fast moving tidal wave of searing oil you can't escape.

Way too much oil in the pots. I thought everyone knew to fill no higher than half. Think Metz getting into a full tub.
