It was road rage, she decided he'd done something wrong against her -- cut her off, didn't signal, something -- and she got mad about it and hit him in revenge. This happens to motorcyclists a lot, unfortunately. Back when I was broke I was driving a car that had problems with the brake lights and I didn't know it, an acquaintance of mine on his motorcycle ended up rear-ending me and got some scrapes and I felt terrible. He thought I was tapping my brakes to joke around with him because people did that kind of stuff to him so often.

I've been a frightened female motorist doing nothing wrong other than waiting on a red light when I got hit/tapped from behind by a hostile guy who thought I shouldn't have stopped for a red light.

This story has really bothered me. I was thinking about this story last night when I was trying to get to sleep. The first rule of gun safety is never to point a gun at a person or object if you don't intend to shoot, as Alec Baldwin found out.. Honestly listening to my nephews playing Grand Theft Auto and delighting in how they can randomly kill and maim people as they play the game made me think about road rage incidents and how people forget that those in other cars are real people. I like video games myself, and don’t think video games necessarily cause violence, but I do think that the virtual world (social media, etc) has led to a desensitized perspective that erases other people’s humanity.
