How do you like your coffee, DL?

Black , with cream , with cream and sugar, with just sugar, with what exactly? Where do you like to drink it? When do you like to drink it? Mornings only in order to wake up? At night to relax? All day long to stay alert and wired to get through the work day? Have you switched over to decaff yet? Do you enjoy coffee shops? Yes, I asked so many questions.

Black.

by Anonymousreply 1November 24, 2021 3:17 PM

A couple of mugs with cream and sugar in the morning. I rarely drink any after that.

by Anonymousreply 2November 24, 2021 3:19 PM

Kicking Horse or Lavazza black. Better quality coffee doesn't need anything added to it.

by Anonymousreply 3November 24, 2021 3:29 PM

What a fascinating thread!

by Anonymousreply 4November 24, 2021 3:32 PM

I don't know why drinking coffee with cream never took off in the UK like it did in the US. I just have semi-skimmed milk and a teaspoon of either sugar or a flavoured syrup in mine at home.

by Anonymousreply 5November 24, 2021 3:45 PM

You could never do a scene like that now. Or Blazing Saddles. People get offended at the drop of a hate. Outrage society.

by Anonymousreply 6November 24, 2021 3:52 PM

One (maybe two...) cups in the morning, made with Breville Espresso Machine. Lots of teamed 2% milk. 1 sugar cane sugar cube.

by Anonymousreply 7November 24, 2021 3:58 PM

Strong and black, like my presidents.

by Anonymousreply 8November 24, 2021 4:01 PM

Cream

by Anonymousreply 9November 24, 2021 4:09 PM

I drink two or three cups everyday. Usually cappuccino with thick thick froth and a pinch of cinnamon, sometimes I'll pour some Baileys.

by Anonymousreply 10November 24, 2021 4:11 PM

Black with Sweet & Low. Two cups every morning. I used to use a French press until I read that the oils and the sludge that falls to the bottom of the cup is harmful to your health. So I switched to an Aeropress coffee maker. Simple, easy cleanup, and makes a very tasty cup of coffee.

R10 Baileys with coffee is lovely.

by Anonymousreply 12November 24, 2021 4:15 PM

Black like my hard hard heart.

by Anonymousreply 13November 24, 2021 4:16 PM

Black, like the poster above said - I want to *taste* the actual coffee. If I wanted "hot chocolate", I'd make that instead. Cream and sugar in coffee has always been a head scratcher for me...It's how our parents used to flavor it when we were little and curious about what the grown ups were drinking with dessert.

by Anonymousreply 14November 24, 2021 4:33 PM

A drop of half and half, but just a tiny drop because l want it searing hot like Miranda Priestly.

by Anonymousreply 15November 24, 2021 4:37 PM

I love cafe style ground coffee that I can use in a plunger. I also like Nespresso coffee pods, usually Italian coffee Nespresso pods.

by Anonymousreply 16November 24, 2021 4:40 PM

Oh, I use a lot milk frother too but not dairy milk, plant based milks.

by Anonymousreply 17November 24, 2021 4:41 PM

Black, like my men.

by Anonymousreply 18November 24, 2021 4:41 PM

Do we know whatever came of this child actress? And also the child actor who had scenes in the cockpit with Peter Graves & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar?

by Anonymousreply 19November 24, 2021 4:46 PM

She's head barista at Starbucks, naturally. Requests for milk or cream are scorned.

by Anonymousreply 20November 24, 2021 4:55 PM

I don't use pods at home but I've tried them at work and in hotel rooms. The plain black, unflavored coffee tastes off, regardless of which blend I select. Does anyone who uses pods regularly think the taste is preferable to other coffee delivery methods?

by Anonymousreply 21November 24, 2021 5:03 PM

Honey and Coconut creamer

by Anonymousreply 22November 24, 2021 5:04 PM

I drink two pots of black coffee every day. I sit, smoke, and watch Fox News all day.

by Anonymousreply 23November 24, 2021 5:17 PM

i add a packet of equal and a little bit of cream. i'm a diabetic so i can't do sugar

by Anonymousreply 24November 24, 2021 5:27 PM

With milk if I'm having it for breakfast or it's not that great, black if I'm having it later in the day and it's good stuff.

by Anonymousreply 25November 24, 2021 5:29 PM

One Keurog cup a day, 2/3 coffee & 1/3 1% milk, one tsp of sugar. I used to do 3 tsp plus creamer X 3 cups a day, yikes!

by Anonymousreply 26November 24, 2021 5:32 PM

Dairy 1/2 and 1/2, no sugars or sweeteners. NEVER that fake Creamora shit, only dairy will do.

by Anonymousreply 27November 24, 2021 5:33 PM

I like my black coffee lightened up with milk (not cream).

It's passable.

by Anonymousreply 28November 24, 2021 5:39 PM

R22 = frauffee

by Anonymousreply 29November 24, 2021 5:41 PM

[bold]Black , with cream , with cream and sugar, with just sugar, with what exactly?[/bold]

1st cup: with heavy cream and Vit D3+Magnesium+Omega-3

2nd cup: black, or cinnamon, or cinnamon and clove

No sugar, no xylitol, no erythritol, no agave syrup, no sweetener period.

[bold]Where do you like to drink it?[/bold]

Right now, in my residence. The pandemic saved me $800/year in 'foofy' coffees and baked goods and tips and 100 hours of crossword and pencil puzzle solving. In olden times, at a counter in conversation with fellow coffeehouse regulars.

[bold]When do you like to drink it? Mornings only in order to wake up?[/bold]

Yes. Coffee is my go juice.

[bold]Do you enjoy coffee shops?[/bold]

I do. The ones that let fully vaccinated people up-to-date on their shots in to enjoy their coffees without staining their fabric mouth-covers. I wish there were coffee bars where one could walk up to an order window facing the sidewalk where I am. I would happily patronize those establishments.

I also, on occasion, prepare Turkish coffee for myself, with either cardamom powder or orange flower water.

by Anonymousreply 30November 24, 2021 5:46 PM

The only time I have coffee is when I go out to eat for dinner.

Decaf, with 3 sugars and 2 half-and-half.

by Anonymousreply 31November 24, 2021 5:52 PM

Light with half and half, no sugar. I loathe it with plain milk and will go without if milk is the only option.

One cup, if that, per day. I drink herbal teas quite often now.

I work remote, so drink it at my desk.

Have only been to drive thru coffee places since Spring of 2020, and that's okay. Never was big on a coffee run every day.

I worked in a small town coffee/ice cream shop when I was in high school. It had morning regulars who annoyed the shit out of me then, but I now see what a cool thing it was to have a place to hang. This was in the 80s way before Starbucks everywhere was a thing.

by Anonymousreply 32November 24, 2021 5:59 PM

Black if I make it at home or with cream if I go out for breakfast.

by Anonymousreply 33November 24, 2021 6:09 PM

Black and lukewarm at night before work.

by Anonymousreply 34November 24, 2021 6:17 PM

I have cut down to 2 very large mugs a day (from 4 or 5). My favorite brand is cafe bustello. My favorite way to have it is with peppermint mocha non dairy creamer but that's ridiculous so my usual coffee is with a splash of half and half and a quarter teaspoon of sugar.

If I am really feeling like enabling my ridiculousness I will add half and half and a splash of torani syrup, usually salted caramel or mint chocolate.

by Anonymousreply 35November 24, 2021 6:19 PM

Bialetti 6-cup moka pot (the cup sizes are for demitasse). Pre-ground light- or medium-roast coffee. Half 'n' half and cane sugar. Two pots (two mugs).

by Anonymousreply 36November 24, 2021 6:24 PM

Not at all, OP.

by Anonymousreply 37November 24, 2021 6:29 PM

I'm allergic to coffee. I drink tea. I don't care for dairy in tea, other than Chai. I do like lemon in it, though.

by Anonymousreply 38November 24, 2021 11:00 PM

R30, orange flower water? Do tell.

by Anonymousreply 39November 24, 2021 11:07 PM

Adding I blend regular and decaf for 50/50 "lo-caf" effect.

by Anonymousreply 40November 24, 2021 11:59 PM

Black no sugar or sweetener of any kind since 1972, my freshman year of college.

by Anonymousreply 41November 25, 2021 12:09 AM

I take 200 mg of caffeine two or three times a day with seltzer water. I don't like the taste of coffee.

by Anonymousreply 42November 25, 2021 12:38 AM

With a dash of non-dairy Country Creamer and 3/4 teaspoon sugar in a heavy, masculine old-diner mug.

by Anonymousreply 43November 25, 2021 1:21 AM

Usually black, old school filter/drip. If I feel the need to add something to it, half & half. Milk is fine for tea, but it's too watery for coffee. I feel pretty shit if I can't get it in the morning. Four cups a day is the usual. I try not to drink it too late but I'm not always good about keeping to that.

by Anonymousreply 44November 25, 2021 1:24 AM

Strong and Brazilian, like my men. (3 Corações, the go-to coffee for Brazilians, black, two spoons of sugar. Nothing better.)

Black, like Muriel's soul.

by Anonymousreply 46November 25, 2021 1:53 AM

22 oz. mug of black, dark roast in the morning. First thing I do after letting the dogs out and sitting their food bowls down.

Black double Americano when I reach my office (and cappuccino machine).

The *only* time I put creamer in my coffee is when it is bad. Like my grandma's percolated sludge.

by Anonymousreply 47November 25, 2021 2:04 AM

Thank you for asking. I take my coffee as an enema.

by Anonymousreply 48November 25, 2021 2:09 AM

OMG. R48 Me, too!

by Anonymousreply 49November 25, 2021 2:14 AM

I hate those pods, too much packaging, bad for the environment.

by Anonymousreply 50November 25, 2021 2:14 AM

strong and black

by Anonymousreply 51November 25, 2021 2:17 AM

During my favorite time of day, NIGHT! I love curling up with a rich cup of coffee. You think coffee and sleep don't mix? They do if it's HIGHPOINT!

by Anonymousreply 52November 25, 2021 2:18 AM

Hazelnut creamer!

In the summer, though, I make an iced mocha.

R54: Cafe Vienna and a warm bath are the perfect icebreakers for when you need to talk to the mailman.

by Anonymousreply 56November 25, 2021 2:43 AM

Peets K-cups, dark roast, with 1 teaspoon of sugar and a good splash of cream.

I used to drink 2-3 large cups a day, but 1-2 medium cups is usually all I need now.

by Anonymousreply 57November 25, 2021 2:46 AM

Four shots of espresso with oat milk

by Anonymousreply 58November 25, 2021 2:51 AM

Thirty years ago I was at a dinner party hosted by an eldergay. Many of his best dishes were depression era. His go-to dessert in summer was a large scoop of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with a spoonful of fresh ground coffee. It's delicious if you like the taste of coffee, as I do.

by Anonymousreply 59November 25, 2021 5:51 PM

Skinny and submissive, just like I like my men.

Oh, wait...

by Anonymousreply 60November 25, 2021 5:53 PM

Folger's crystals. Hot, black and strong.

by Anonymousreply 61November 25, 2021 5:55 PM

In the morning, at 8:34, with Elizabeth, a beaker and hopefully that dishy vicar

by Anonymousreply 62November 25, 2021 6:22 PM

[quote] a large scoop of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with a spoonful of fresh ground coffee.

Wait R59 - so like a spoonful of hot (cold?) coffee, as in the liquid you'd otherwise drink, over the ice cream or he'd sprinkle the actual coffee grinds on the ice cream?

by Anonymousreply 63November 25, 2021 6:25 PM

I'd do that with instant coffee, not ground coffee.

by Anonymousreply 64November 25, 2021 8:19 PM

OP- BLM and the Children's Welfare groups would ARREST the producers of that movie for such UNWOKE dialogue- if a movie like that was made today.

by Anonymousreply 65November 25, 2021 8:28 PM

R63, he would use a spoonful of fresh ground coffee, dry, not brewed. But after reading R64, I'm wondering it indeed it was instant coffee he had used.

by Anonymousreply 66November 26, 2021 3:08 AM

I used to drink 3-4 cups of black coffee a day, but having developed blood pressure issues this year, I've cut it down to 1. But, I do miss the taste of a good cup of coffee throughout the day. Can anybody recommend a good decaf that doesn't taste like weak brown water?

by Anonymousreply 67December 27, 2021 12:00 PM

Is there an agreed upon definition of black coffee? I always thought it meant nothing in it. Period. But some of you seem to think sugar in your coffee is still "black coffee".

by Anonymousreply 68December 27, 2021 12:12 PM

Green Mountain Dark Magic K-cup with nothing added. Two or three cups every morning.

by Anonymousreply 69December 27, 2021 12:14 PM

Half & half, Splenda.

by Anonymousreply 71December 27, 2021 1:12 PM

It only took 20 years to figure it out, but I like my coffee best as Cafe au lait—equal parts coffee and milk (in my case, oat milk). At Starbucks it’s called a misto

by Anonymousreply 72December 27, 2021 1:15 PM

The way I like my DL threads with dark, bitter roasts.

by Anonymousreply 73December 27, 2021 1:45 PM

Black. Two per day. One in the early morning to help me become human again, and one in the early evening.

by Anonymousreply 74December 27, 2021 1:45 PM

We drink coffee after dinner exclusively, neither of us like caffeine when we wake up. Generally we brew a strong medium roast and I only add a small splash of dairy to mine, but my partner really likes adding both cream and some Torani syrup Irish Cream flavoring.

Years ago we went to an Olive Garden with relatives and their coffee was really good so we bought some already ground (it didn't come in whole bean) and that was the only coffee I ever liked straight black.

Right now we're going through a few bags of Starbucks Holiday Blend (the only Starbucks anything we ever buy) but also have Lavazza espresso roast and some Lavazza Dek decaf (which you might like, r67, it's strong and a pretty decent flavor), plus a few bags of Cafe Bustelo.

In the summer, we have Greek Nescafe iced coffees.

by Anonymousreply 75December 27, 2021 2:06 PM

R67 I like the Whole Foods instant decaffeinated coffee .

I'm afraid not to drink her brand of coffee now, assuming it's still available. What a commanding general Lauren Bacall makes.

by Anonymousreply 77December 27, 2021 2:15 PM

The chocolate covered coffee beans will give you a giant buzz

by Anonymousreply 78December 27, 2021 2:26 PM

The lil girl was obviously referring to slavery. Jesus, the 70s were racist.

by Anonymousreply 79December 27, 2021 2:29 PM

I drink 2 mugs in the mornings made with a good old fashion driping machine. It says 6 cups but funky that, I ain't got no time for dainty cups.

Also I get my coffee at a specialist store. costs a lot but I usually don't splurge on clothing or house things so I treat myself.

by Anonymousreply 80December 27, 2021 2:51 PM

I don't like coffee. I only like carmel latte, that way I don't taste the coffee, lol. And before you ask, yes I am an adult. I'm even getting old. I'm a Millennial, turning 35 next year. I have just never liked coffee. Can't really explain it.

by Anonymousreply 81December 27, 2021 2:53 PM

If it's good coffee (and no, Starbucks is not good coffee), then a little bit sugar.

If it's just any old coffee, cream and sugar. This includes Starbucks and most other coffee-to-go, drip machines, and all the automatic cup machines.

by Anonymousreply 82December 27, 2021 2:54 PM

I like my coffee the same way I like my men.

Ground up and boiled in a pot of water.

by Anonymousreply 83December 27, 2021 4:36 PM

Having grown up in a world of Starbucks, I had never had instant coffee until I was an adult. Truthfully, Folgers and MC aren’t so bad if you don’t want that much caffeine

by Anonymousreply 84December 27, 2021 4:40 PM

I drink brewed coffee and instant and at times I can't really tell the difference . I didn't know Alex Forrest was on this board.

by Anonymousreply 85December 27, 2021 4:46 PM

I LOVE coffee!

Starbucks is my favorite and I have an iced low-calorie, no fat hazel-caramel Frappuccino every morning. I insist on having the whipped cream whipped and a dash of chocolate and cinnamon in my drink.

I just cannot without my coffee.

by Anonymousreply 86December 27, 2021 4:46 PM

When the better-than-Sanka coffee first came out in the 1970s, R84, people would add the "crystals" until the cup stained on the outside part of it. College kids would eat it by the tablespoon for that "up all night" boost.

"Don't want that much caffeine," indeed.

by Anonymousreply 87December 27, 2021 4:47 PM

[Quote] Starbucks is my favorite and I have an iced low-calorie, no fat hazel-caramel Frappuccino every morning. I insist on having the whipped cream whipped and a dash of chocolate and cinnamon in my drink. I just cannot without my coffee.

That seems like a high calorie candy with a touch of coffee

by Anonymousreply 88December 27, 2021 5:26 PM

i think r86 is riffing on the fraus, like Linda from accounting.

by Anonymousreply 89December 27, 2021 9:16 PM

[quote] Can anybody recommend a good decaf that doesn't taste like weak brown water?

R67, try Starbucks Sumatra decaf, whole bean. IMO, delicious. You won't even think of it as decaf.

by Anonymousreply 90December 27, 2021 9:20 PM

Now THAT'S a motherfucking commercial, r70! Give me one of those dames for some hardcore ad slingin' -- whether it's coffee or Chevrolets or Crisco, they'll sell the shit out of your product and then snatch that paycheck on their way out the door. Perfection.

by Anonymousreply 91December 28, 2021 12:18 AM

[quote] I just cannot without my coffee.

Cannot what? You left a word out.

by Anonymousreply 92December 28, 2021 6:14 PM

Sorry to bump a basically dead thread, but r67, I wanted to mention that if you like iced coffee in the summer, the decaf Greek instant Nescafe is really really good. You put some in a little cool water and shake it up and it foams, then you add ice and milk or cream if you want, or just more water. It's delicious. If you're near a shop that sells it, I recommend it. The caffeinated tastes better (true of all coffees) but the decaf doesn't taste like decaf at all.

by Anonymousreply 93December 29, 2021 10:23 AM

Milk, sweetener and lots of caffeine. It's hot tonic to wake me up while I begin work so that I don't fall asleep. It's not there especially to enjoy or to dissect the flavour.

by Anonymousreply 94December 29, 2021 10:50 AM

A large mug of strong coffee with a good deal of half and half in the morning as soon as I get up. Perhaps a slightly less strong mug midday (which I never finish) or strong cup of tea (made in the pot with leaves) in which case I add Splenda to the half and half .

Do not understand sugar in coffee, it is sickening to me.

When out I have a cafe au lait exclusively. Apparently I really enjoy milk with my coffee.

by Anonymousreply 95December 29, 2021 10:53 AM

An observation I volunteered one time providing lunch at a halfway house in NYC for poorc recovering addicts. To a man they all wanted several scoops of sugar in their coffee. Is this an addict thing.

They also took the decorations from the table. I surmised two things from this: One: They had very little so they lived in a world where you grabbed what you could and Two: Community life was impossible under such circumstances.

by Anonymousreply 96December 29, 2021 10:58 AM

Wanting sugar means you are fucking narcissistic. Doncha know that, cunt? Who fucking cares.

by Anonymousreply 97December 29, 2021 11:04 AM

If you need to have tons of sugar and milk in your coffee, you don’t really like coffee

by Anonymousreply 98December 29, 2021 11:33 AM

When ordering at a restaurant, I like it black. However, I've been using a French press at home and use half and half to help obscure the graininess.

by Anonymousreply 99December 29, 2021 11:39 AM

Funny you should ask. We bought a Nespresso Lattissima Pro for each other and it arrived yesterday. We had our first cup this morning. I had a latte macchiato. Excellent.

by Anonymousreply 100December 29, 2021 11:55 AM

Black usually. At home, in the morning, 2 cups max.

I've never understood drinking a highly caffeinated drink to "relax." I drink it to wake up/perk up.

by Anonymousreply 101December 29, 2021 12:03 PM

With non-fat/skim milk and a couple of splenda...and HOT

by Anonymousreply 102December 29, 2021 12:10 PM

Nescafe instant decaf with milk & sugar for me, Nescafe seems to make the best instant coffee, its even better and stronger in Europe.

by Anonymousreply 103December 29, 2021 2:26 PM

I purchased Nescafe instant latte packets from amazon.com, they shipped them from the UK, and they were good.
