I’m returning to the musical stage tonight

I’m nervous. After 25 years of a non-stop career in theater, my last show was in 2006. I haven’t acted in a musical since then. Just TV, film, and cabaret/concert work. I can’t believe it’s been so long but here I go!

by Anonymousreply 99November 23, 2021 8:25 AM

What kind of stuff have you been in?

by Anonymousreply 1November 19, 2021 11:09 PM

Plant your own tree!

by Anonymousreply 2November 19, 2021 11:11 PM

Musical wise, I sang on Broadway in Jesus Christ Superstar. I also originated the role of Harold in Harold & Maude, the musical. I’m best known on TV as a regular on Bones.

by Anonymousreply 3November 19, 2021 11:12 PM

Thanks r2,

by Anonymousreply 4November 19, 2021 11:12 PM

Break a leg Eric!

by Anonymousreply 5November 19, 2021 11:14 PM

What show/role?

by Anonymousreply 6November 19, 2021 11:15 PM

Awww we now need to know who you are. I love Jesus Christ Superstar! At least, what role did you play?

by Anonymousreply 7November 19, 2021 11:15 PM

Thanks r5!!

by Anonymousreply 8November 19, 2021 11:15 PM

R7- an apostle and understudied Simon

by Anonymousreply 9November 19, 2021 11:16 PM

R6- using the info in this thread you can figure it out. More fun than me telling you.

by Anonymousreply 10November 19, 2021 11:17 PM

The info on this thread tells you what show/role you are going to be playing tonight?

by Anonymousreply 11November 19, 2021 11:21 PM

I’m impressed. You have your own Wikipedia page. Good luck!

by Anonymousreply 12November 19, 2021 11:24 PM

Buddy the Elf

by Anonymousreply 13November 19, 2021 11:26 PM

He's playing Buddy in Elf - the musical.

Break all the legs Eric

by Anonymousreply 14November 19, 2021 11:26 PM

Thanks r14! I hope it doesn’t get reviewed. I usually like reading my reviews for better or worse, but in this case, can’t it just be for fun?

by Anonymousreply 15November 19, 2021 11:29 PM

How was it working with Janet Gaynor, OP?

by Anonymousreply 16November 19, 2021 11:29 PM

R16- my Maude was Estelle Parsons

by Anonymousreply 17November 19, 2021 11:30 PM

Hard to imagine a better one R17.

by Anonymousreply 18November 19, 2021 11:32 PM

Is it the legitimate theatre?

by Anonymousreply 19November 19, 2021 11:32 PM

Break a leg!

by Anonymousreply 20November 19, 2021 11:34 PM

Just have a good time! Everyone else is gonna.

by Anonymousreply 25November 19, 2021 11:37 PM

You're cute and talented. Break a leg! I saw Estelle in "Happy Days" (Beckett, not Richie Cunningham) years ago. Hope it was a good experience!

by Anonymousreply 26November 19, 2021 11:40 PM

Break a leg OP! We all need to get back to the theater so thank you for your service. Not being trite or kidding at all.

Signing my authenticated name instead of anonymous on this one. Not that it matters but what you're doing matters and I want you to know how much I appreciate it. Even if the show bombs, which for your sake I hope it doesn't.

by Anonymousreply 27November 19, 2021 11:43 PM

R24 have you seen this?

by Anonymousreply 28November 19, 2021 11:44 PM

Thanks r26- it had its moments but ultimately she was lovely

Thanks Mark and you’re welcome

Thanks r25

by Anonymousreply 30November 19, 2021 11:46 PM

You’ll be swell, you’ll be great!

by Anonymousreply 31November 19, 2021 11:49 PM

Thanks r31. You know I sang that as my Valedictorian speech. How gay is that?

by Anonymousreply 32November 19, 2021 11:51 PM

To set the mood...

by Anonymousreply 33November 19, 2021 11:52 PM

Break a leg, OP. And, don't forget, the stage adds 50 lbs.

by Anonymousreply 34November 19, 2021 11:52 PM

You’re talented and will no doubt be wonderful. Savor the experience!

by Anonymousreply 35November 19, 2021 11:54 PM

Break a leg, OP!!!

by Anonymousreply 37November 20, 2021 12:03 AM

Thnx r37

by Anonymousreply 38November 20, 2021 12:07 AM

Savor every moment. It must feel so good to be back. Congratulations!

by Anonymousreply 39November 20, 2021 12:30 AM

Sorta sad you coming to DL to get compliments on your "comeback" instead of your real friends.

by Anonymousreply 40November 20, 2021 12:33 AM

R40 hasn’t had a bowel movement in three weeks.

by Anonymousreply 41November 20, 2021 12:53 AM

Is r27 Mark Harris?

by Anonymousreply 42November 20, 2021 1:06 AM

Will there be nudity?

by Anonymousreply 43November 20, 2021 1:15 AM

Ok, DL…who is the guy playing the piano for Baby Jane in R24? He’s been in everything but I don’t know his name. Thanks

by Anonymousreply 44November 20, 2021 1:28 AM

Cunt off, R40.

C-list is a regular here and one of the very few people gutsy enough to share his real identity on Datalounge, too. And, as evidenced by his self-styled handle, is a humble and down to earth guy despite being named....

by Anonymousreply 45November 20, 2021 1:33 AM

Aww break a leg! I’m happy for you and happy that theater is back.

by Anonymousreply 46November 20, 2021 1:38 AM

Kill the people.

by Anonymousreply 47November 20, 2021 1:42 AM

*throws rose*

by Anonymousreply 48November 20, 2021 1:43 AM

Eric, I follow someone on Twitter named Aaron Wiener. He wrote some episodes of Bones. Do you know him? I always look forward to his tweets. He's so upbeat and I like his sense of humor.

by Anonymousreply 49November 20, 2021 1:46 AM

I hope you are sensational, OP. Have fun. You've got something like 10 seconds to make them like you, according to Noel Coward.

by Anonymousreply 50November 20, 2021 1:50 AM

Thanks everybody!!! I’m backstage now. Andrew Weiner wrote for Bones after I left, I think. I’ve done nudity before. Not this show. Don’t know who the pianist is.

by Anonymousreply 51November 20, 2021 2:03 AM

Break a leg! Knock their socks off.

by Anonymousreply 52November 20, 2021 2:04 AM

Break a leg, toots.

by Anonymousreply 53November 20, 2021 2:05 AM

R44, the actor at the piano is Victor Buono. I don't know if he is actually playing the piano though.

by Anonymousreply 54November 20, 2021 2:10 AM

Another thrown rose

by Anonymousreply 55November 20, 2021 2:11 AM

Ah, the life of a hungry ambitious Hollywood Background Artiste...

Make sure you invite us to your "Showcase" on industry night!

by Anonymousreply 56November 20, 2021 2:16 AM

Thanks, R54...as a pianist, I can tell you he is not playing.

by Anonymousreply 57November 20, 2021 2:24 AM

Congratulations! Tell us how it goes, we are rooting for you

by Anonymousreply 58November 20, 2021 2:25 AM

R56 is clueless.

by Anonymousreply 59November 20, 2021 2:46 AM

Break a leg! Ps everyone keeps calling you Eric but I think that’s your partner’s name, right?

by Anonymousreply 60November 20, 2021 2:48 AM

No, it's his name. Good luck, Mr. Millegan ! If you show doesn't reach Broadway, I hope it becomes at least one of those that tours or gets done regionally every holiday season.

by Anonymousreply 61November 20, 2021 3:06 AM

Wait, is this really Eric Millegan? If so - hi, Eric! You're a good actor. Liked you on Bones

by Anonymousreply 62November 20, 2021 3:17 AM

In my experience, the audience wants you to be successful. It’s sounds like an adrenaline rush to be onstage after a while. Im in SAG-Aftra, but now lead an organization, and appear in public fairly often. When onstage, and I reach for a word, a sense the audience is hoping I find it.

I think if they purchased tickets and choose the show and you performing in it, they will want you to succeed. Know that much. You will do and be great.

by Anonymousreply 63November 20, 2021 3:33 AM

Now go out there and be so swell that you'll make me hate you!

by Anonymousreply 64November 20, 2021 3:41 AM

OP, I hope you'll come back and tell us how opening night (or first preview?) went!

by Anonymousreply 65November 20, 2021 3:44 AM

kisses on your opening!

by Anonymousreply 66November 20, 2021 3:48 AM

r56 is not clueless. R56 is jaded.

by Anonymousreply 67November 20, 2021 3:52 AM

Congtrats, OP! I already know you've done well! Break the other leg next performance! Best wishes!

by Anonymousreply 68November 20, 2021 3:52 AM

Give 'em a glove!

by Anonymousreply 69November 20, 2021 4:02 AM

Lay 'em in the aisles! And if they won't do it there, take 'em home with you!

by Anonymousreply 70November 20, 2021 4:08 AM

Happy for you OP!

by Anonymousreply 71November 20, 2021 4:18 AM

OP, you didn't eat corn or anything like that today, did you? Now I'm starting to worry. ;¬}

by Anonymousreply 72November 20, 2021 4:50 AM

All out of costume now. My husband sent me flowers before which was nice. He never does that so it was sweet. An old friend gave me flowers at curtain call. Overall, it seemed to go well. I had little line mess ups here and there but nothing anyone would notice, I don’t think. I feel good physically and vocally so that’s good since we’ve been rehearsing all week and have a show tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 73November 20, 2021 4:51 AM

I hate you.

by Anonymousreply 74November 20, 2021 5:23 AM

OP Fantastic news. You are so sweet. Now, home to bed, you drunk whore.

by Anonymousreply 75November 20, 2021 5:50 AM

Woot Woot great news OP. I cannot imagine the nerves of performing, I definitely admire you. Thanks for sharing your news. Welcome back to work.

by Anonymousreply 76November 20, 2021 8:34 AM

Maybe you can be the new Jason on General Hospital. I hear they have an opening.

by Anonymousreply 77November 20, 2021 9:12 AM

Toi toi toi!

by Anonymousreply 78November 20, 2021 9:26 AM

Hey C-List - glad to see you around still. Since you haven’t posted in the theatre threads in a while I didn’t know if you were still posting. Always loved your backstage gossip, especially the goings on at the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar - I remember that revival well.

Glad to see you returning to the stage…have a great show!

by Anonymousreply 79November 20, 2021 10:00 AM

Paper Mill Playhouse! My friend worked there then, great house. Show was too small for the place but you guys were lovely. Have fun.

by Anonymousreply 80November 20, 2021 10:08 AM

R66 I see what you’ve done here.

by Anonymousreply 81November 20, 2021 10:26 AM

OP, I just remembered I was hearing the Overture to the original JCS double LP yesterday (before i read that you appeared in the musical). It's so haunting. And then the final track, 'John Nineteen Forty-One' is so sad. Anyway, lovely to hear you did well. Is the husband gonna take a pic of you a la Faye Dunaway sitting by a pool in a white terry cloth bathrobe with an Oscar or a Tony on the table? Just kidding...

Same. Kudos for being brave enough to reveal your identity on DL. Good luck to you, OP!

by Anonymousreply 84November 20, 2021 2:29 PM

Thanks r79, r80, r84!

by Anonymousreply 85November 20, 2021 7:45 PM

Break legs and have a great run. I loved you on bones. Have had the great good fortune to meet you a couple of times. And have enjoyed following your career ups and downs...

by Anonymousreply 86November 20, 2021 10:15 PM

Eric, BONES Was one of my mother's favorite shows, and I watched many, many episodes with her. Good memories of us together.

What do you think of GAP In-Store Playlists?

by Anonymousreply 91November 21, 2021 12:48 AM

Not lying, that rendition was great. Really outstanding. No struggles at all with the high notes.

by Anonymousreply 92November 21, 2021 1:49 AM

You guys are all awesome, thanks. I enjoy doing the anthem. I never got compliments like that though. Thank you so much! Ego boost!

by Anonymousreply 93November 21, 2021 10:56 PM

Is Eric wearing Sally Jessy Raphael glasses during the Anthem?

by Anonymousreply 94November 21, 2021 11:31 PM

Yes r94

by Anonymousreply 95November 22, 2021 1:00 AM

R89, yes, you add the ‘s for proper nouns. Plural nouns are just s’. We learned this the first day of upper division English, my foppish dandy prof reamed us out for not knowing this.

by Anonymousreply 96November 22, 2021 7:13 AM

Congrats on the return and you’re going to kill it, hun!

by Anonymousreply 97November 22, 2021 7:22 AM

So, r96, it would be Scrubs's?

by Anonymousreply 98November 22, 2021 3:31 PM

Thanks r97
