‘10 Things I Hate About You’ (1999) is the best Teen Film, according to Vice

Thoughts? They say it is a perfect film.

I thought it was perfect when I was a teen, does that count? The characters are more complex than usual for a teen film and it’s resolved in a positive way that isn’t sugary sweet. I like it much better than the other teen films of that era.

ENOUGH.

by Anonymousreply 2November 14, 2021 1:34 PM

No one thinks this. Literally no one.

by Anonymousreply 3November 14, 2021 1:36 PM

Ohhh I loved Enough. That was the movie where JLo gets the shit beaten out of her by her husband, and then becomes a boxer. So good! Not a teen movie though!

by Anonymousreply 4November 14, 2021 1:37 PM

Hmm i don't know about best teen film but it still holds up.

Vice doesn’t know anything about anything.

by Anonymousreply 6November 14, 2021 2:42 PM

Sorry, but Heath was miscast. He looked like a 35-year old lifeguard.

by Anonymousreply 7November 14, 2021 2:55 PM

Loved that Hogwarts-like high school.

by Anonymousreply 8November 14, 2021 2:58 PM

No. Compared to like John Hughes teen movies?? No way.

I actually find Heath Ledger a very irritating actor but this film is a gem with good performances.

I recently rewatched She’s All That and Freddie Prinze Jr was astoundingly awful and Rachel Leigh Cook was . They were both out performed by Paul Walker, Anna Paquin and Keiran Culkin; not to mention all the other stars of the future with 2 sentence roles.

by Anonymousreply 11November 15, 2021 12:34 PM

Julia Stiles is perfect in this. “And I hate you most because I don’t hate you at all…”

by Anonymousreply 12November 15, 2021 12:46 PM

R11 really? I thought Paul was worse than FPJ. But Rachael was the only good thing about the new remake.

by Anonymousreply 13November 15, 2021 3:05 PM

Paul Walker was the weakest link in Shes All That.

I actually felt both leads were perfectly cast.

by Anonymousreply 14November 15, 2021 3:19 PM

I hate Julia Stiles and her frying pan flat face.

by Anonymousreply 15November 15, 2021 3:24 PM

Is Legally Blonde considered a teen film even though she’s in college? If so, it’s far superior.

by Anonymousreply 16November 15, 2021 3:35 PM

That’s it! Julia Stiles does have a flat face. She’s unappealing.

by Anonymousreply 17November 15, 2021 3:39 PM

No, that honor goes to one of these: The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles or Heathers. Take your pick.

by Anonymousreply 18November 15, 2021 6:29 PM

I love Clueless and Bring It On also

by Anonymousreply 19November 15, 2021 6:30 PM

Heathers sucks

by Anonymousreply 20November 15, 2021 9:17 PM

Regally Bronde, herrrrroo!

by Anonymousreply 21November 16, 2021 12:03 AM

Paul Walker stole scenes from Freddie Prinze Jr just by existing. That’s the benefit of charisma. And the deficit of the deadly combination of not being able to act and having no charisma.

There’s a reason he went on to a successful franchise and FP went on to a bit part in 24 and a cooking career.

by Anonymousreply 22November 16, 2021 9:44 AM

I loved this movie.

Or FPJ just didn't give a shit once he got with SMG.

He’s no talent.

by Anonymousreply 25November 16, 2021 2:11 PM

FPJ didn’t act because he didn’t want to. He literally quit acting for years once they started having kids. He was the one who stayed home with them while SMG worked because she earns more than him.

I was a teen in the 90s and I barely remember 10 Things and She's All That. Clueless and The Craft are the best teen movie from that era, imo.

by Anonymousreply 27November 16, 2021 2:55 PM

Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Sixteen Candles, Get Real, Some Kind of Wonderful are all much better than 10 Things I Hate About You. I’d even add Cruel Intentions to that list

by Anonymousreply 28November 16, 2021 3:00 PM

Cruel is rated R.

by Anonymousreply 29November 16, 2021 3:03 PM

Heath Ledger looked like he needed a deep conditoner on his matted dried out hair. Why did they make him look so bad. Julia Stiles got typecast early as chronic RBF.

by Anonymousreply 30November 16, 2021 4:05 PM

Plus he looked he was pushing 0.

by Anonymousreply 31November 17, 2021 9:24 PM

40.
