Jamie Lee Curtis, Annette Bening, and Emma Thompson are around the age of Bea/Betty when the series started. For their age, they've had some of the least amount of work done as far as Hollywood actresses go (compared to say Michelle Pfeiffer, Geena Davis, Holly Hunter, etc). But even without work done, women are looking younger. My mother at 65 does not look nearly as old as her mother did at 65. Granted hair, cosmetics, skincare has come a long way in that time.

My grandparents, great aunts and great uncles were all in their 70s in the 1980s and when I look through old photo albums and see pictures of them, OMG I can't believe how "old" they looked. It was like they were all 100. It's amazing how much "older" old people were back then.

My parents, aunts and uncles are all in their 70s now and they're going to the gym, going on hikes through the woods, etc. They are so much more youthful than the previous generation.
