Bob's Burgers - A charming, gay-friendly cartoon
This show is pretty damn gay, despite never being heavy-handed with a social message. The mom is the ideal hot-mess fag hag, and she's voiced by a gay man. The dad is frequently bi-curious and has a lot of gay/transvestite friends. The son is obsessed with attention and musical theater, and the daughter's crush is a slow-dancer with a butt that won't quit.
It never has a moral about acceptance or sexuality, but it has lots of cute and simple little jokes that artfully touch on both the absurdly ribald and the oddly wholesome.

There are a million things wrong w this fucking show. One man does every voice, inc females. The animation is horrible and unprofessional. Family Guy has been horrible for years but Bob's Burgers is a million times worse. I cannot imagine how ugly and stupid you'd have to be to watch this garbage.

R5 is a drunken, smelly twat.
The main cast is six people - one for each Belcher plus Teddy the Handyman - and the supporting cast is another ten recurring actors. A few people will sometimes voice a second character, and sometimes the actor is male, but that's far from saying "One man does every voice."
And as far as "unprofessional" animation: The show's been in a primetime slot for over a decade, and minted millions for its creators, looking just the way it does. It has fans, a huge media presence, and a profitable machine of merchandising and syndication rights. It meets the very definition of the word "professional," and it's more than someone like you will ever churn out.

We had a Bob's Burgers thread a while back that had someone who absolutely insisted the animation on it was so awful it was embarrassing, that he worked in television animation and he knew for a fact that the show was garbage, and I always thought it was odd that we never saw this guy who worked in animation ever mention that he worked in television animation ever again.

This is the cast for Bob's Burgers on imdb. Oh look: every major character is voiced by someone different and not just "one man," just as r7 said but r9 denied.

There was an episode where Bob had to keep going to the grocery store to buy turkeys and the butcher there thought he was coming on to him. The flirtation between the two of them (which Bob surprisingly considered) had me in hysterics.

My most favorite? Probably the mock trial where Louise has to defend her arch nemesis Mr. Frond.

Eat, Spray, Linda is one of my favorite episodes, which introduces the vile character Deirdre, voiced by Drew Droege.
One thing I love about Bob's Burgers is how nasty the townspeople are, even when the Belchers are nice to them.
Bob throws a big party for them during the hurricane that almost cancels Lobsterfest, and are they grateful? Of course not. They trash his restaurant, boo him at Lobsterfest, and his "best friend" Teddy suggests that they make trashing Bob's restaurant an annual tradition.
Bob drives Edith around town as she steals quilt pieces, and insults Bob constantly, yet he still defends her in the end.
As Linda is trying to get home, and Deirdre chases her through the sidewalk art festival, Linda runs around all of the chalk art, while Deirdre barrels right through, destroying other people's artwork.

I love the animation! It looks so simple and then you realize it's actually really detailed. Gutters, shutters, railings, dryer vents, etc etc decorate the buildings. The cars look like a 12 year old drew them until you look closer. They chew food realistically and the different weather creates different moods. Last week did crappy chilly overcast day at the beach so well. Then there are the ones that show the day going from beautful, sun came out after a rain, to magic hour to sunset to night. The sky is always doing something interesting. They capture "sun dappled" when they go into the woods. I think the lone "animator" is fucking jealous.

One of the writers said that one of the keys of the show is that though life is tough for the Belchers they should always get a little win before the end of each episode. I think that's why I hate the magicians episode because the magician outsmarts Bob in the end.
Louise losing her ears to Logan ([from another ep] "Logan Barry Bush?" "We didn't think it through!") is a classic.

R84 I find the earlier episodes hard to watch. The show creators were trying way too hard to be edgy then (the food truck episode is a perfect example) Around the first Halloween episode this show got into a groove and is getting better with age.

But Gene-centered storylines are a bit much.

I loved the show from Seasons 1-5 but it has lost some of the sharp humor. I miss the early (sometimes evil) mastermind version of Louise. The Florida swingers episode that the clip from R90 is from is my favorite. I still laugh out loud every time I see this scene:

Another reason mastermind Louise was so fun was her nemeses. Logan is the best but also great was her borderline-hate obsession with Boo Boo, and the obsessed Millie. And the episode where Henry manipulates Louise's obsession with Millie's obsession to win the class election was pure genius.

For some reason, probably because I didn't want to watch an animated series, I overlooked this show until several months ago when a friend specified a specific episode. I reluctantly watched it, and now, whenever I'm stumped as to what I might want to watch at night, or, more likely, nothing to watch, I'll listen to a random episode and I almost always get some yucks.
