Beyonce is not dumb at all

I'm starting to realize that all of these celebrities are genius in their own way. I mean, they have to me. Even Britney is a very, very smart girl.

These celebrities create an image and a persona, and then they cement it, reinforce it. I guess you could call that strengthening a "brand". It's amazing that they have been able to create entire empires, when you think about it. But a lot of the imagery and ideas they propagate is trash. Dr. Boyce Watkins, an economics professor and entrepreneur, pointed this out, how popular music, especially a lot of rap, glorifies drug abuse, violence, guns, etc. I'm starting to believe - maybe I'm right - that the glamorization of violence really is making us, I don't know, violent!

Anyway, thoughts?

I mean...that's not necessarily intelligence as much as it's adaption or "Street smarts." Beyonce is media savvy but not particularly intelligent. Her ENTIRE career was built by others from her wardrobe, her music, her choreography, etc. The same can be said for many artists but there's a handful of them who you just feel like are more in control like Madonna, GaGa even Taylor Swift. Beyonce has a problem with coherency when she's being interviewed.

by Anonymousreply 3November 12, 2021 10:02 AM

There are many different ways of being smart. That’s not just a touchy-feely slogan. Academic intelligence, erudition, encyclopedic knowledge are all great things, but look at someone like Nixon who had all of that and yet couldn’t use it half the time because he had no people skills.

by Anonymousreply 4November 12, 2021 10:12 AM

So-called "black culture" has dragged down western civilization, imo. Especially since racial segregation ended. Though, curiously, the Left is pushing for this to come back under the guise of "safe spaces."

by Anonymousreply 5November 12, 2021 10:35 AM

They don’t create their identities. Someone else does.

by Anonymousreply 6November 12, 2021 10:35 AM

She's a fucking idiot and only cares for the $$. Only $$ smart.

Her music is shit.

I like her, Tina and Solange. Jay Z and her dad both seem like dickheads to me.

Tina’s husband was the actor in poltergeist with the video camera. Always thought he was handsome

by Anonymousreply 9November 12, 2021 10:43 AM

As I said r8, she only cares for the $$s and her music is shit. She only werks for the $$s. Not talent really.

by Anonymousreply 10November 12, 2021 10:44 AM

R5 Black culture? The culture created by white conservative men by destroying their successes (like Tulsa), writing laws to keep them down, then out right kill them. Is it shocking they’ve emerged with an angry, unpleasant culture (to a degree)? Some would say gay culture is obscene and has led to the coarsening of our culture. Many conservatives are completely turned off by gay culture. So, glasses houses cunt. Cultures are shaped by the oppression, or lack of, they experience.

by Anonymousreply 11November 12, 2021 10:46 AM

r9 her entire career is her JayZ pack, and before her mom and her family. Seriously, this bitch is the definition of no-talent.

by Anonymousreply 12November 12, 2021 10:48 AM

Crazy for your ass. And that's about it.

by Anonymousreply 13November 12, 2021 10:49 AM

Beyonce is completely controlled. The only celeb who had near compete control was Madonna. It is clear when you see how few puff pieces are written about her (going back to just after the beginning), and her uneven public image. WBR infamously did little for their artists if they were seen as “difficult to control” like Madonna or Prince. Prince was driven nearly insane by them. Madonna left them hurting her career after 2009. WBR and her feuded for 10 years hurting her music promotion, streaming numbers, and WBR connections to prevent hit pieces being written on her by rival companies.

by Anonymousreply 14November 12, 2021 10:51 AM

Jay Z is definitely calling some of the shots. I don’t think she graduated from high school. There’s a reason she doesn’t do interviews. She might upset her perfect image.

by Anonymousreply 15November 12, 2021 10:55 AM

Beyawnce is a media whore/zombie. She has to keep the press happy in order for it to continue to treat her like "god" and tell people to worship her yodeling ass. Her music is still shit.

by Anonymousreply 16November 12, 2021 11:00 AM

Nah. She’s a pampered idiot directed and controlled by her Svengali.

Like many others: Elvis, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Britney…

by Anonymousreply 17November 12, 2021 11:04 AM

She cleans up nicely! She had me at Austin Powers-bring back that smile 😃

Beyoncé is 100% manufactured, from top to bottom. Her streaming and sales numbers are all lies, created by bots and software. Her entire physical image is fake. She can barely sing. Yes, this can be said about 99% of current pop “stars,” but she’s a special case as the media really pushes her as some sort of royalty. None of it is real. If you talk to anyone on the street about Beyoncé, the response will be “who?” or a shoulder shrug. No one cares. She is not a part of a real zeitgeist, it’s completely media created and supported.

by Anonymousreply 21November 12, 2021 12:17 PM

R5 I'm Black. Beyoncé is not "black culture". She's a shallow pop star who makes music for white suburban people who like it. How can a minority with not much economic power destroy Western civilization? You're a moron. Why don't you blame the white men who own the record labels and mainstream media who put these black artists on. Or the white people who buy these albums and support them. The biggest group obsessed with Beyoncé are gays by the way. But you know this and are a troll.

by Anonymousreply 22November 12, 2021 12:23 PM

R22 Yep, shallow gays that watch rupaul and are obsessed with the kuntrashians are her base.

by Anonymousreply 23November 12, 2021 12:26 PM

Beyoncé had Mathew and Tina (created Destiny's Child for her), Solange (her ghostwriter), Kelly (her hype woman) and Jay-Z (her music mogul husband) to help her out. A strong family unit. Her career is completely a group effort. They saw this pretty light-skinned girl with a voice and realized they could make her a star and get rich off of her. Unlike the families of Brit and Bieber. Bey's family made sure to protect her and her image hence she doesn't do interviews and she goes straight home after tours.

by Anonymousreply 24November 12, 2021 12:29 PM

Kendrick Lamar is an example of a rapper who isn't doing damage but making things better.

by Anonymousreply 25November 12, 2021 7:34 PM

R5- explain your claims. When was the apex of Western Civilization ? How does Black culture degrade it? What Leftist organizations are embracing modern-day de facto segregation? When you get back from the school board meeting protesting Critical Race Theory even though you don't have a clue what any of those words mean, please enlighten us with your wisdom.

by Anonymousreply 26November 12, 2021 7:52 PM

If Beyoncé was smart, she would divorce Jay-Z's evil ass before his karma comes back. I don't think they are even together anymore, but keep up the appearances in public.

by Anonymousreply 27November 18, 2021 4:00 AM

I don't think Beyonce is particularly smart. Solange seems the far more intelligent of the two but I guess she wasn't the designated star of the family. I like Britney and wish her well but again I don't think she is especially bright. I don't understand this trend of claiming every highly successful female pop singer/ model/ reality star is secretly smart. Many of them are not so much intelligent as they are malleable, hard working and lucky. I even see people claim that Paris Hilton is intelligent. She's not, just rich and savvy enough to hop on the sex tape train.

by Anonymousreply 28November 18, 2021 4:14 AM

Beyonce's strength was her family unit. She was protected and sheltered her whole life. She never went off the deep end like Britney, Lohan or Bieber who were just thrown to the wolves. She just does her shows and goes straight home. I do find she is a complete ditz who is good at following instructions. But she seems sweet-natured and harmless and is passionate about performing, as she improved her voice and maintained stamina on stage. She is not a soulful singer nor is she an incredible dancer but she is a jack-of-all-trades. One issue (a very valid one) people have is her winning awards and getting nominations for work she did not do. Nothing she says or does is really her, she is just a vessel for other people. A lot of people on her team were greedy and did illegal shit, Mathew and Jay included. I dislike a good portion of her fanbase who are narcissistic and shallow assholes that attack anyone who doesn't like Beyoncé.

by Anonymousreply 29November 18, 2021 4:27 AM

I was at a grocery store/deli once and there was a man ordering food in nothing but a bathrobe and no shoes, and people were seem to be snickering and discretely taking pictures but I thought it was because of the man's audacity. It turns out it was Matthew Knowles, who lived in the attached high-rise condos.

by Anonymousreply 30November 18, 2021 4:49 AM

Please excuse the bad grammar above. I had eaten a weed gummy.

by Anonymousreply 31November 18, 2021 4:51 AM

She's not stupid for letting other people control her career.

She's smart for LETTING the RIGHT people do it.

Remember when Gaga first became huge and she had those funky dance moves? She was forced to get rid of them after she fought with her choreographer Laurieann Gibson/Boomkack who implied more than once that Gaga's persona was mostly her doing. Things took a sharp turn when they were filming the "Judas" video for "Born This Way." Laurieann, who choreographed it, wasn't too keen on all the religious imagery. Add that to other issues and Gaga fired her.

Gaga was gonna' show Laurieann that she didn't need her and that she could stand on her own without anything Laurieann came up with!

The Fame/The Fame Monster sold 15 million copies worldwide.

Born This Way sold 6 million copies worldwide.

After Laurie was fired and Gaga changed her "image."

Artpop sold 2.5 million worldwide.

Joanne sold 1 million worldwide.

Chromatica sold 331,000 worldwide.

It's a skill to attract and keep the right people around you. It's also a skill to know when you can't do something and when you can. Maybe Beyonce doesn't control her career like Madonna did but maybe Beyonce knows that she'd suck at it.

by Anonymousreply 32November 18, 2021 5:07 AM

Gaga is talented but too arrogant at times. She is so desperate to prove her versatility that she can be polarizing. One minute, she is doing albums to show her skills as a vocalist then the next trying to get top 40 hits and be relevant. She went back to her roots with Chromatica but I doubt she will ever recreate the success of her first two albums. She's not the only one in this regard, Madonna and Mariah made similar mistakes in their careers. Creative control does not always equal success.

Beyoncé is more of a classic manufactured star who followed the instructions of the label execs. Just like with Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears, let others call the shots. It is not necessarily a bad thing because producers, songwriters and managers are educated in understanding what will be successful or not. Being a talented performer does not mean you will be business savvy.

by Anonymousreply 33November 18, 2021 9:22 PM

I wonder if she lost money on chromatica because she is still promoting it. Even after she had the latest jazz album she is back to promoting chromatica. Even on her Gucci press tour she is still promoting chromatica.

I can’t get into it. I liked 2 songs but none of the others grabbed me. It honestly sounds like songs left off of other albums.

I feel like she has to strip everything down and just work with some producers and let the magic happen. Not everything has to be so…much.
