A bunch of miserable bitches on there.
Anyone else hate ONTD?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | January 5, 2024 10:00 AM |
It’s not 2007 anymore. You can log off of LiveJournal.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | November 10, 2021 5:18 AM |
R1 I know, but I still can’t help but read the comments on there. All the people who comment on there think and act alike. I can’t stand those holier than thou assholes.

On the nights of Tolly Dodd?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | November 10, 2021 5:38 AM |
ONTD still exists?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 10, 2021 5:55 AM |
R4 Yep but it’s nowhere near as popular as it used to be.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 10, 2021 6:00 AM |
I hate the term "echo chamber", but I think that is a fitting description of ONTD.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 10, 2021 6:19 AM |
For the newbie here what is ONTD?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 10, 2021 6:49 AM |
^ yes I did see that thanks. I'm sure that ain't the answer!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 10, 2021 7:04 AM |
Really??
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 10, 2021 2:18 PM |
DLers stay hating on LSA even though the posters on there are hilarious. Can’t say the same for ONTD.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 10, 2021 2:21 PM |
The more female coded a website/forum is, the less funny it is.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 10, 2021 2:33 PM |
OP do you read Jezebel as well? Maybe stop visiting websites for bleeders.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 10, 2021 2:34 PM |
R13 ONTD is filled with unfunny gay men too.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 10, 2021 2:35 PM |
I liked ONTD years ago but found comments to be pointless, so many people commented that at the height of its popularity you couldn't really even have a conversation. Also, sometimes the posts would be convoluted and took too long to get to the point.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 10, 2021 2:45 PM |
I was banned for an innocuous comment that wouldn't have gotten any attention years ago. Some SJW biracial butterfly was stalking me and telling me he'd report me to the mods. I ignored it because I didn't say anything wrong. But he went ahead and reported me and I was banned. Fuck them.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 10, 2021 3:32 PM |
It’s also been invaded by PR companies (not that other sites haven’t). So many posts of movies and tv shows that suck.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 10, 2021 5:39 PM |
R10, R16...thank you
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 10, 2021 10:59 PM |
R18 What was your username?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 11, 2021 1:04 AM |
I remember LChat used to have a thread dedicated to ONTD but it got locked because of trolls.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 11, 2021 12:34 PM |
ONTD was great in it's heyday.
At some point, LiveJournal took an interest in the site and then it all went to hell. Inflated egos of mods (who all pretended as if the three original owners never existed) helped crush it once they started profiting from it.
I can't believe anyone is still over there.
Most of the classic users from when the site was on top, getting constant media mentions, have all moved on mostly to Twitter
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 11, 2021 12:48 PM |
R22 That thread was lit! I remember it got locked because of stupid trolls doxxing ONTD members.

I like to go there to see how the groupthink plays out in that set.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 14, 2021 10:55 AM |
It used to be so funny and exciting around 2004-2012 and then it became too “woke” for me.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 14, 2021 11:28 AM |
It used to be hilariously bitchy towards the celebs posted about. That seems ages ago. Now posters are bitchy towards celebs for being problematic. Pretty much a good 95% of celebs posted about are considered “trash.” It lacks the humor. It’s just griping and being weary like Roxanne Gay.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 14, 2021 2:39 PM |
[Quote] Now posters are bitchy towards celebs for being problematic.
They're also bitchy towards each other for not being woke enough.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 14, 2021 2:43 PM |
I’m pretty woke, and even I find ONTD too woke. It used to have random celebrity posts (hell I once posted my encounter with Eva Longoria and Tony Parker in Paris) but now it’s all mediocre movie and tv previews that they’re obviously making money off of. They’re mostly shills. And I once reminded them that it was Russian-owned and slanted, and got the whole posse after me.

Remember this from 2007? “Britney Bald pix coming soon”
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 15, 2021 3:18 AM |
I’ve been posting on there for almost 20 years. Was way more fun before it got woke. Still some laughs though.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 15, 2021 3:23 AM |
ONTD is filled with white feminists who over share too much about their personal lives.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 15, 2021 3:24 AM |
The gay commentators on ONTD are also too try hard and not funny at all, unlike the commentators on here.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 15, 2021 3:29 AM |
The whole point of it was to be really bitchy and then overnight, you just cant do it anymore because “gaslit”, “problematic”, “microaggressions”, “triggered”. Why these easily triggered people just dont get off the internet though.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 15, 2021 3:36 AM |
The peak years were about 2007-2012. After that, holier than thou Tumblr users invaded the site and made it insufferable. It's still going, but the amount of daily posts and comments keeps getting smaller and smaller. With every post turning into discourse about race and gender, it's no wonder why it's dying out.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 15, 2021 3:38 AM |

[quote]It used to be so funny and exciting around 2004-2012 and then it became too “woke” for me.
I don't know how "woke" become a derogatory term but I left around 2010-2011 during the "great migration" once the place started going full on commercial. Then tumblr speak started slowly rolling in.
A lot of the site's most popular commenters split or started posting less and a lot of them/us all kept in contact and even have met each other in real life.
Suddenly the goofy, insane, comments that were genuinely funny were gone. It was like Brendan and that one woman with the Conan avi sucked the life out of it.
The site was at its most popular and at its best when it didn't have to answer to anyone.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 15, 2021 3:52 AM |
R38, those tumblr crazies used to be so niche how did it propagate to the world stage?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 15, 2021 4:08 AM |
R40, it got worse when tumblr speak branch to other platforms like Twitter and instagram and then even famous people who had those accs got brainwashed.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 15, 2021 4:12 AM |
R42 That’s why I can’t stand Twitter. It’s like Tumblr back in the day but 10x worse. I actually prefer using Tumblr now.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | November 15, 2021 4:20 AM |
R37 ONTD used to be open to having gender critical discussions in Trans related posts, but that quickly got shut down.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | November 15, 2021 4:22 AM |
R23, safe space? I remember when one of them used to comment and she love how bitchy and trolly it got.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | November 15, 2021 4:48 AM |
Uh, OP, no one has used that shit since 2012.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 15, 2021 5:03 AM |
[quote]it got worse when tumblr speak branch to other platforms like Twitter and instagram and then even famous people who had those accs got brainwashed.
Twitter used to be fun up until around 2013 when that started to happen.
You can tell if a person uses Twitter a lot in 2021 by how much they apologize preemptively when making Tweets just to cover any and all arguments / counterpoints that may or may not make sense at all but will likely occur if their Tweet goes viral.
Tweet: "Ryan Reynolds was such a sexy man in Amityville Horror."
(a few seconds later)
Tweet: "Also I realize that not every man has a penis and that not every human identifies as a male/female and I'm sorry for using 'female.' I am only using it in the scientific sense and I do not support the patriarchy and believe that women deserve equal pay and are not inferior to men. This tweet was not meant to objectify Ryan Reynolds who I am sure is an accomplished actor, has a lovely wife and children. I do not approve of the objectification of men, women or anyone who identifies as neither. I meant that Blake Lively's spirit is no doubt beautiful but if you are a person who doesn't believe in spirits. I meant it in the general sense. I support your religion or lack of religion. It doesn't make someone less if they do not have children and the heteronormative marriage of Ryan Reynolds is his own business and I do not claim to know him."
I'm sad that's creeped into Instagram.

“Oh no you didn’t” went out with “talk to the hand” and “NOT!”

Here’s part 1 of “hostage Brituacion” in 2008 when Britney refused to hand over her children and then in the end she was restrained and sent to the hospital .
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 15, 2021 5:33 AM |
A lot of the commenters there seem to be white women pretending to be black. As in it's the same people commenting about how dreadful "yts" are, and yet the same ones are obsessed with the typical set of white celebs like Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 15, 2021 6:38 AM |
I think the woke tide is receding a bit over there. People frankly stated, for instance, that the banal political agenda of the GG reboot ruined it. No one argued that point, which surprised me, as for years the lightest resistance to LC conformity was punished.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | November 15, 2021 6:42 AM |
*PC not RC
by Anonymous | reply 52 | November 15, 2021 6:43 AM |
They're very selective with their political correctness over there. Funnily enough, the PC stuff only ever seems to apply to the celebs who are adored over there.
What other site is good as a sort of summary of gossip, without having to wade through endless bullshit posts?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | November 15, 2021 6:46 AM |
They go back and forth over Taylor. But i did chuckle at All Too White.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | November 15, 2021 6:50 AM |
I remember for weeks after Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video come out, EVERY user on ONTD had an avatar/icon from the video. You would go into a post with hundreds of comments and each user had an avatar from that music video! (and LiveJournal has an option where you can change your avatar for each comment you leave).
by Anonymous | reply 55 | November 15, 2021 7:59 AM |
Always fun to read the Nazis and Klan Grannies kvetch about how they can’t post bigoted hate outside the ghetto cesspit of the anonymous toxic waste dump called DL.
It’s always a joy to know when you’re trigged and that you’re pathetic minority stalkers with nothing going on in life except bitching about minorities that won’t let you slur and defame them.
That is, unless it’s just one psycho talking to itself through sock puppet accounts as usual.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | November 15, 2021 8:49 AM |
I remember there were some diehard Lindsay Lohan fans who would get into it with the rest of us. This was way before Lindsay moved abroad. One of them ended up working for her as her assistant for a short bit and he was so disappointed with the experience he quit ONTD and never spoke of her again. Apparently she was worse than even the rumors at the time were making her out to be.
Pete Wentz used to get raked over the coals. He admitted he read the site and thought all of it was hilarious. A lot celebs used to admit to reading about themselves there.

Remember when rosie odonnell use to read DL?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | November 15, 2021 10:50 AM |
Didn't Eli Roth used to read it too? Does anyone else remember when someone on ONTD tried to get Willa Holland fired from The OC??

I used to love ONTD back when they had an app. I went through it every day religiously, because I lived in a shitty town and was hungry for gossip. I have to admit I was bombed when they discontinued the app back in 2016. Shame me all you want.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | November 15, 2021 1:13 PM |
R56 Try again. I have nothing against “woke” people. I have everything against the bitter people on ONTD.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | November 16, 2021 4:36 AM |
I just saw that one was claiming that it's easy for Harry Styles to be gender non-conforming because he's white. Not only are those white millennial girls too woke for their own good, they're ignorant of anything that happened before their childhood.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | November 16, 2021 4:59 AM |

They probably weren't millennials, dear.

R59, the blueberries situation with him went from cringe with the nudes to fucked up when I think one of them started stalking him. But some of the other spinoffs were fun (skating, etc). After a while though, I just had no reason to go back to livejournal for anything, it was such a miserable experience even logging on.

R37 the roots of that problem go deeper. The real issue stems from the early 00s, when Normies—I.e. non-nerds, non-gays, non-weirdos—came online and started posting. The Internet used to be a refuge for the different.

Everything is problematic to them. They hate Taylor Swift, white women in general, and reserve their deepest vitriol for “cis white gays,” who are seen as privileged above all.
