The waitress came, and we ordered our food. As the sun was getting ready to set, we went outside to take photos of it. Toby set his iPhone timer and got down on one knee. The timer went off at the perfect moment as we have the most incredible photo.”

This is a case study in self-involved tacky wealth and excess. The guests as well as the wedding party look like the shallowest and most attention needy horrors. The bride is lucky she is rich because she is not a beauty.

Hahahaha! Every guy at the wedding was Gay... Including the groom
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 9, 2021 5:36 PM |
I know her uncle, Peter, whom I went to college with.
It's a very messed up family, of course, if you saw either the recent film about them with Christopher Plummer, or the miniseries. Iva exalts her grandmother Ann as if she were some sort of impeccable society doyenne, but of course Ann was just a stewardess when she met Gordon Getty, one of J. Paul Getty's sons; and Gordon, while fucked-up in his own way, is the relatively sanest of all the sons (the others are stranger and more messed up than the Roy children on "Succession," whom they greatly resemble).

by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 9, 2021 5:57 PM |
Hmm, interesting; the bride looks like one of Mick Jagger's daughters while the groom...looks like her younger brother. And he does have gay face for days.
Having gang from NY Social Diary as the guests was a nice touch, but it all looks more like a media event for all involved (including Nancy in a lovely Star Wars ensemble) than an actual wedding.

Great photographs, I enjoyed looking through the slideshow which is lengthy. The carpets placed in city hall is a nice touch. Nancy Pelosi who is a bad ass bitch and kept her foot dead up the former guy's obese ass, its an honor to have Sister Nance officiate. The wedding is expensive and luxurious but something is off about the scene. Too much bad surgery on the guests who are waxen in appearance with Zoolander duck lips. Dead grass in the pics of the picnic overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, distracting. The theme is not cohesive outside of WE HAVE LOTS OF FUCKING MONEY, HATERS.

I agree. I think it's an attempt at 1920s flapper style with the dropped waist, etc. The shards just added so much bulk. She must be super skinny to still look somewhat thin in that dress. The bridesmaids' dresses remind me of the Calvin Klein slip dresses from the '90s. Boring.

[quote] It's supposed to be a sapphire, but it looks very black, although I admit I know nothing of gemstones.
Sapphires can be almost any color except red.
If the mineral corundum (a translucent stone that is the hardest naturally occurring mineral except diamond) is red, then it's a ruby. But corundum of any other color--yellow, brown, orange, green, pink, purple, clear, black, blue--is a sapphire.
Blue is of course the most famous color (and one of the most highly prized) for sapphires, and that ring is probably a deep midnight blue that photographs as black.

I don't think any of Gettys married money. Must've been an ironclad prenup for the MOB waitress.
Her face has character (I also like a prominent nose). Her hair color is beautiful.
The Getty family is San Francisco royalty and they've donated a lot to California. I don't know much about them but I know they're a prominent philanthropic family in the area. If I'm wrong, correct me. I don't get the outrage for Nancy officiating.

R134 One of the Gettys married a Miller sister - Pia? Their dad was a multibillionaire and bought the "Prince" of Greece for one of his other daughters (the Millers support the Greek royal family, who are penniless without the Millers).

by Anonymous | reply 136 | November 10, 2021 8:28 PM |
R135 Oh that’s right, Pia was a Getty for a period of time but has been divorced for years. I guess it must have been a friendly divorce as the feckless Marie-Chantal and Pavlos were there with their insipid daughter. They still insist on being the Crown Prince and Princess of Greece despite the monarchy being abolished decades ago.

What is the last name used by Prince Pavlos and his family? The kids use "of Greece" in their Instagram handles. Does it literally say "of Greece" on their drivers' licenses?

R120, Did you even read my post at r12?
There's nothing "tabloid" or "trash" about the museum, the photo source, the oil company,...
That you regard knowledge of anything must be "useful" says a lot about YOUR world-view. Do you know only of farming methods and iron-ore smelting?
Whether Robber Barons or Magna Carta Barons (you are obviously a citizen of the UK/Commonwealth who detests the royals, of whom I said nothing, you little extrapolator, you), "the wealthy" are, indeed, often intimately involved in what normally is called "history." In the US, it's usually our industrial history.
I said nothing about the wedding of this weird child Iva. I referred only to one's not even having heard of the surname.
That ignorance is just sad.

Pelosi has been a friend of the Gettys for decades, and she doesn't have to "hitch her wagon" to any rich show because she's worth a couple hundred million dollars herself. She lives in SF, and represents SF, so there's no reason she shouldn't have been at her friend's wedding.

Here is Ivy's dad. He was probably the most handsome Getty when he was young.
Balthazar Getty is the next best-looking Getty. I saw Balthazar's dad (John Paul Getty III) in my university's bookshop. His was enrolled for a time after the ear-slicing kidnapping. After he left college, he later overdosed and ended up blind and in a wheelchair. He died in 2011 at age 54. What an awful life. I'm sure that Balthazar had a lot of stress and heartache like Ivy.

Wouldn't the more appropriate official be the SF mayor, and longtime family friend Pelosi could attend still and largely avoid the spotlight like the governor. I wonder if, as sentimental as Ivy comes off, she asked Newsom on to officiate because he and her father were friends since childhood. (Newsom's late father was the family lawyer who communicated/negotiated with the kidnappers and, if IIRC, also delivered the ransom). If so, Newsom was wise to turn it down. Remember the French Laundry photo?

I haven't heard about this one. He had an affair with his campaign manager's wife when he was running for reelection as SF mayor. Most of these trust funders, who don't work, always seem so dim, they likely don't hire the correct money people to help them invest properly. They are too busy traveling, drinking and taking drugs.

No purpose in life and their parents literally want nothing to do with most of them.
