Mother and Father were watching it and I started watching it halfway through. I was all cynical and making fun of it and deriding them for watching it. Then at the end though just like with the original and Touched by an Angel I was sobbing and grabbing for the Kleenex.
Highway to Heaven Rebbot

My mother watches this still, and I must admit some of the episodes hold up well. It had some great actors and some now-famous ones on it. Some of the episodes are maudlin though.

In my family, we looked down on people who liked Michael Landon.

Michael Landon was sexy. For a show about an angel, it wasn't that big on preaching Christianity. Just taught to be a decent person. Landon was actually Jewish in real life. That's all I have to say.

Why?

Barry Watson from 7th Heaven and Jill Scott will be in the reboot. Maybe I'll watch. I love Jill's music and Barry is hot.

More like an asshole.

My mom used to put that on so I could go down for a nap when I was little. I rarely got past the opening music. Always put me to sleep.
I watched one episode a few years back and it guest starred James “Abe Carver” Reynolds’s and playing his daughter was Renee Jones who would later play his wife, Lexie, on DOOL. It was so trippy.

DOOL?

One of the UK channels bought a couple of seasons of the original show and wound up dumping it in a Sunday lunchtime slot, it was never shown on every part of the network even then. The Devil Worship show on Channel 4 hammered it in the ratings.

Lifetime's plan is to do a series of movies and not a series.
I watched reruns of the 80s show when it used to constantly rerun on different cable channels years ago. It was sort of a comfort food show with a focus more on being kind. A couple of years ago, I watched episodes when it was streaming on Netflix and I noticed some of the episodes wouldn't fly today with Evangelical Trumpster Christian types. Several episodes were pro-immigrant, anti-racist, and there were several episodes where the word "God" was never mentioned.

Isn't that essentially what Highway to Heaven was?

I think that I got through one episode once when I was too unwell to switch the TV over when I had tonsillitis.
I don't think Americans get that shows like this and 'Little House on the Prairie' weren't Primetime in the UK (not even 'The Walton's' after a couple of series).
'Little House on the Prairie' was mainly shown on kids TV at 4:40pm on weekday afternoons.

'Knots Landing' was also a daytime show.

If I recall correctly, Touched by the Angel, Highway to Heaven and 7th Heaven were all scrutinized by Evangelical watchdog groups for not being "Christian" enough. As in not preaching to the audience to accept Jesus or teaching the idea of hell. Being "too tolerant" basically. Ridiculous criticism as they were all general entertainment shows airing on regular networks not on CBN.

I'm surprised they haven't rebooted 7th Heaven with Barry in the dad role.

Barry Watson, Andrew Keegan, David Gallagher, Tyler Hoechlin, Don Jeffcoat, The Stults brothers, etc. So many hot guys on that show. Mary Camden got some dick.

Touched by an Angel had a pro-gay episode about a gay man dying of AIDS. The Evangelicals had to have been pissed about that.
