I really don't see it, OP

by Anonymousreply 2November 2, 2021 10:24 AM

She no fool me!

by Anonymousreply 3November 2, 2021 10:24 AM

So ghetto.

by Anonymousreply 4November 2, 2021 10:25 AM

I’ll agree that her mannerisms are completely different. More like a girly co-ed before’, militant Women’s Studies minoring in African Heritage ‘after’.

Vibes of a Patty Hearst brainwashing/transformation.

by Anonymousreply 5November 2, 2021 10:30 AM

[quote]Even her general mannerism and the way her facial muscles move when she speaks have changed.

I don't think it's a race thing, it's a class thing. Rebecca Hall is quite posh and she sounds quite "mockney" at times. I thought she'd been living in the US for a long time, not Sarf London.

by Anonymousreply 6November 2, 2021 10:33 AM

Oscars don't just fly out of Harvey Weinstein's asshole anymore. You gotta have a hook...

by Anonymousreply 7November 2, 2021 11:06 AM

R7 hehe. If you other Americans don't have a black ancestor, you should invent one to open the doors of wokeness. Then you can hate anyone and freely get away with it.

by Anonymousreply 8November 2, 2021 11:12 AM

Can you be a trans Black?

by Anonymousreply 9November 2, 2021 11:12 AM

I thought the same thing when I saw her new haircut

by Anonymousreply 10November 2, 2021 11:15 AM

R7 When you can't suck Weinstein you can suck wokes.

by Anonymousreply 11November 2, 2021 11:16 AM

R9 Sure!

by Anonymousreply 12November 2, 2021 11:18 AM

You all do too much . Yet another "I'm a bargain bucket Mengele" / "I'm not racist or any type "ist" like those U.S Southerners /white trash over THERE" white Datalounge special.

by Anonymousreply 13November 2, 2021 1:50 PM

R13 Are you an anti white racist?

by Anonymousreply 14November 2, 2021 1:58 PM

R13 Maybe you just don't have a sense of humor.

by Anonymousreply 15November 2, 2021 2:07 PM

I don't see it OP. Rebecca Hall acts exactly as she always does, she just doesn't seem to warm up to the interviewer. She looks like a White woman with short hair.

When looking at the film poster, I don't think Ruth Negga passes for White at all. If White Chicano and White Mexicans can't always pass in California, there's no fucking way Ruth would pass for White in 1920's New York City. The hideous platinum blonde wig makes it even more obvious she's not White.

by Anonymousreply 16November 2, 2021 7:27 PM

Klan Granny thread alert, and I would bet OP also posted many of these racist comments. Without new Meghan Markle content the Klan Grannies have to drum up other women to be racist about.

by Anonymousreply 17November 2, 2021 7:30 PM

No. She doesn't appear to be trying to look like anything in particular. He hair is shorter than usual but that's not any sort of covert racial signifier. Anyone of even marginally mixed racial ancestry cannot win in this country. They are either attacked as self haters denying their full heritage or Dolezal esque phonies. Hall is a fantastic actress, so much better than overrated critical faves like mopey Michelle Williams or dreary Amy Adams. She was amazing in The Night House .

by Anonymousreply 18November 2, 2021 7:43 PM

OP types Floridan high school dropout.

by Anonymousreply 19November 2, 2021 7:47 PM

R17 I hope Klan Grannys fuck you in your sloppy ass finally to help you with your obsession with them. And if you are such an idiot without a sense of humor go and read House and garden.

by Anonymousreply 20November 2, 2021 9:10 PM

She is not a better actress than Amy Adams or Michelle Williams but she has had potential for many years now.

by Anonymousreply 21November 2, 2021 9:14 PM

One of my obscure grudges is that she should have been cast in the movie One Day instead of Anne Hathaway.

by Anonymousreply 22November 2, 2021 9:18 PM

Does she use white people shampoo?

by Anonymousreply 23November 2, 2021 9:24 PM

She doesn't resemble her mother Deidre at all.

by Anonymousreply 24November 2, 2021 9:27 PM

[quote]One of my obscure grudges is that she should have been cast in the movie One Day instead of Anne Hathaway.

Is this influenced by her performance in David Nicholls' Starter For Ten?

She was amazing as a child in her father's production of The Camomile Lawn, alongside Tara Fitzgerald, Jennifer Ehle and Toby Stevens in their breakout roles. And she was in a BBC thing with Imelda Stanton and Janet McTeer as some mismatched lesbianish detectivey people.

She gave up acting, went to university and resurfaced in some pretty big projects - after Starter For Ten she appeared in films directed by Christopher Nolan, Woody Allen and Stephen Frears and a tv film by Stephen Poliakoff.

She's been in some pretty big projects for someone so relatively anonymous, which she's probably very happy about.

She'd be a Pointless answer for an actor who's appeared in any of the Iron Man films.

by Anonymousreply 25November 2, 2021 9:30 PM

She was great in The Night House.

by Anonymousreply 26August 16, 2022 6:54 PM

She is a full-featured woman but I don't think she's black.

by Anonymousreply 27August 16, 2022 7:04 PM

I think she took it on when marketing Passing and (endlessly) telling her own passing story, and it all stuck. I was introduced to her and liked her in Vicki Christina Barcelona.

by Anonymousreply 28August 16, 2022 7:20 PM

To me, she looks like a young Carol Burnett.

by Anonymousreply 29August 16, 2022 7:22 PM

I didn't see it, but then I am not obsessed with race and don't believe black people act a certain way or that white people act a certain way.

by Anonymousreply 30August 16, 2022 7:29 PM

She's married to the exceptionally hot Morgan Spector, who plays George Russell on "The Gilded Age"

by Anonymousreply 31August 16, 2022 9:21 PM

She needed to seem white to get initial roles. Now that she's established and black is fashionable/required in UK productions she's happy to shift.

by Anonymousreply 32August 16, 2022 10:32 PM

She looks white to me either way.
