Are there any actors the minute you see their face you just get so irritated? Their mere presence engenders hostility and you can't articulate a reason why.
Actors you hate for no reason

Juliette Lewis. William H. Macy. JK Simmons.

I fucking hate Michelle Williams and Carey Mulligan. For me, they ruin movies that I would've otherwise liked. They're both so bland and cold, it's so annoying to watch their co-stars struggle to play believable attraction to them.

Julia Roberts.
Oh wait, there IS a reason. She can't act her way out of a wet paper bag.

Anya Taylor Joy. I used to like her but I'm getting really annoyed with the prevalence of her alien face everywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 31, 2021 2:43 AM |
I'll try:
Olivia Colman. It's not that I think she's bad, but I want to slap her face forehand and backhand until my wrist needs a brace.
Bill Nighy makes me cringe and I can't stand him in anything. Who the hell amputated his upper lip and why? So there's a reason.
Frances McDormand. It's not just that she's a trashy one-note slug. She's so smug and satisfied about it. So there's a reason.
So that's one.

I’m going to break the theme of the thread. I’m getting really tired and I think a lot of other people are too of seeing Ratboy everywhere. Homely, can’t act out of a wet paper bag, smug, and entitled. All because some naive teenage girls say he’s attractive after Brian Swardstrom and Sunshine Sachs told them to say he’s attractive.

My dislike of actors depends on how much publicity they are getting. Years ago, I disliked Paltrow, Roberts and Pitt. Now that reality stars and influencers are getting all the attention that is who I disdain. For awhile a few years ago I really disliked Meghan Markle, now I find he entertaining , though I know that's not her aim.

I have never liked or enjoyed watching critical fave Felicity Jones. She has a " derp" facial expression and seems lacking in grit. Jones can only play girlish characters, not women.I initially liked Timothee Chalamet but now feel he was dreadfully overhyped and not a fraction as talented as he was made out to be. I don't care very much for smug Jeff Daniels and loathed his character in the Newsroom, though to be fair some of that was due to the writing. Amy Adams is not talentless but extremely overrated and I'm tired of seeing her cast in everything. She is like Michelle Williams in that her main draw seems to be her perceived girl next door vulnerability ( though I suspect both women are far colder and tougher than their image projects). Michael Douglas is a cold fish actor who can never project any warmth. I absolutely hate sneering John Wayne but luckily he's dead so it's only an issue when TCM is on.

Not only that, she remains silent about the trans community verbally abusing and threatening gay women with violence because they don't want to be penetrated by men calling themselves "women" and "lesbians."

R147 " totally overused". Yes that's the problem. Her passive and bland energy works in certain roles ( I actually thought she fit well in the critically maligned Woman in the Window film) but casting producers have made her the go to woman for everything. Even when she does a decent job I find myself wondering what another actress would have done with the role. It's like producers have decided that Adams is the safe fit who doesn't offend critics or audiences.

Emma Watson is truly dismal. I just watched The Goblet of Fire the other night and she and Daniel Radcliffe were so terrible. She’s giving an identical performance to Kristen Stewart in Twilight. Just awful.

You must be a reactionary misogynist, R94. If you're fine with men calling themselves "women" verbally abusing and threatening dissenting women and girls with violence, but think expressing concern about it is "transphobic."

Bradley Cooper
Scarlett Johansenn
Christian Bale
Jennifer Lawrence
Timothee Chalamet
Jeremy Renner
Lady Gaga (and this is a very loose use of the term "actor" for her)
Jason Momoa (I will never watch or take seriously a file he's in and I truly have no reason why)
Brie Larson
These are the ones I hate for no real reason; plenty of others I won't watch, but there's a reason why.

I can't stand Ryan Reynolds and his wife, but especially him. This constant trolling (by both of them) and thinking he's funny is nauseating.

[quote] Winona Ryder for me, since the late ‘80s. I liked her in Black Swan but that’s it!
I rewatched it recently on Hulu and loved the scene she ripped apart Natalie Portman's character at the reception event.
