First time flying first class
by Anonymous | reply 89 | November 5, 2021 7:39 PM |
If it's an international carrier they usually have good food, so leave room.
Otherwise, nothing to worry about.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | October 30, 2021 7:53 PM |
How did you get in here?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 30, 2021 7:55 PM |
R2
I am a whore, Darling.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 30, 2021 7:56 PM |
R2 crypto
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 30, 2021 7:56 PM |
There goes the neighborhood.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 30, 2021 7:57 PM |
I'm lying flat and I don't want to hear you ringing the servants bell all night just because you're new here.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 30, 2021 7:58 PM |
- Limit your alcohol. Flying is dehydrating. Alcohol makes it worse.
- Don't act like this is your first time. You can appreciate the experience without announcing that it's your first time.
- The flight attendants are not your maids and valets. You still need to act in a civilized manner and be gracious.
- Depending on the carrier and the duration of the flight, it can be a very pleasant experience with excellent food and amenities. Enjoy it while you're there.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 30, 2021 7:59 PM |
Don’t behave like Gerard Finneran…
During the flight, Finneran, a Wall Street investment banker, had been refused further alcoholic beverages when cabin crew determined he was intoxicated. After they thwarted his attempt to pour himself more, Finneran threatened one flight attendant with violence and attacked another one. He then climbed on a service trolley and defecated, using linen napkins to wipe himself, and later tracked and smeared his feces around the cabin.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 30, 2021 8:00 PM |
The only way to fly especially on longer flights. You can board first, eat all you want, the bathrooms in first class are less busy because the cabin has fewer people, the seats are roomier, more overhead compartment space for you, no charge for extra luggage.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 30, 2021 8:03 PM |
If it's a domestic flight, in Covid times, its not much more than coach except for a wider seat.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 30, 2021 8:03 PM |
I can do business class for Europe but anything to Asia, yes, first class, please.
Mind you, even domestic there is a certain pleasure in catching the eye of the people who have to wander past on their way to whatever's back there. Violence, I guess. And Youtube infamy.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 30, 2021 8:05 PM |
Domestic or international? Don't dress like a pig. If you take your shoes off, make sure you put the slippers on. Don't go crazy with the drinks...remember alcohol dehydrates you. Take the goodie bag if you must, but forgawdsake don't steal the blankets, glasses, or utensils. Hang out in the first class lounge...they'll tell you when the flight is getting ready to board. I always bring my own headphones/pods, because I like them better. Obviously, service is going to be different if you're flying Air Bangladesh or Emirates (which is, IMHO, the best airline in the world), so be gracious to the crew, and let them know you appreciate them.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 30, 2021 8:07 PM |
LOL r11 😭 I hadn’t thought of that but it will be kind of nice to be envied by the riffraff.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 30, 2021 8:07 PM |
Don't expect too much.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 30, 2021 8:10 PM |
The meal tray probably slides up and out from the armrest. (Vs. dropping down from the seat in front of you.)
Don't drink too much. (I did this in First Class, very embarrassing.)
The little bag of freebies isn't that great.
Dress comfortably, but not like a slob. Everyone else will be dressed ... for comfort.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 30, 2021 8:12 PM |
Don’t wear anything less formal than a three-piece suit. And bring a change of ties in case of spills. It’s the thing to do.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 30, 2021 8:16 PM |
Slap the stew VICIOUSLY if your drink order is tardy. It just sets the tone for the whole trip.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 30, 2021 8:21 PM |
It's nearly impossible to go back to economy once you've popped your cherry.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 30, 2021 8:24 PM |
If you’re flying domestic in the USA - set your expectations very low.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | October 30, 2021 8:24 PM |
- Limit your alcohol. Flying is dehydrating. Alcohol makes it worse. WRONG!
- Don't act like this is your first time. You can appreciate the experience without announcing that it's your first time. WRONG!
- The flight attendants are not your maids and valets. You still need to act in a civilized manner and be gracious. WRONG!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 30, 2021 8:26 PM |
Are you automatically entitled to the first class lounge? Where is it?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 30, 2021 8:26 PM |
Third door on your left, R22.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 30, 2021 8:27 PM |
If you're not pretty and svelte, the mile-high club will simply leave you alone.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 30, 2021 8:29 PM |
I have to admit I like those heated mixed nuts and ice cream sundae on United Air.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 30, 2021 8:29 PM |
^^Yes, in most cases. You can usually check-in there also, rather than standing in line. Check your baggage at the curb and ask directions to the lounge, or find it online. ^^
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 30, 2021 8:29 PM |
When packing, soles face toward heaven.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 30, 2021 8:30 PM |
If you must pass wind, cropdust Economy. There are more feeble scapegoats.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 30, 2021 8:32 PM |
If someone comes up from steerage to use the first class lavatory, tell them loudly “you’re not allowed in this area”.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 30, 2021 8:35 PM |
Don’t break out your jar of peanut butter and the Ritz Crackers up front.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 30, 2021 8:37 PM |
If it's not this level of first class then you're doing it wrong...
by Anonymous | reply 31 | October 30, 2021 8:37 PM |
The "goody bag" varies greatly by airline.
Most European carriers have some sort of high end creams and lotions (e.g., SwissAir has LaPrarie, or they did in the Before Times, as it is a Swiss company.) Sample sizes but good for the length of your trip.
You can also get very nice pajamas. Or very cheap ones (looking at you Qantas), depends on the airline and whether there is a local loungewear company that wants to make a deal.
First class lounge is sort of overrated as ideally you are not hanging out there very long, or long enough to have a massage. And the food on the plane is going to be better. That may be on me though--I like to walk around before a long flight as I am not going to be moving for many hours and so the advantage to the lounge is free wifi and a place to store my carryon
Enjoy the lay flat seat if that is part of your experience.
And be nice to the FAs and to the purser, who usually comes around to say hi and check on you too
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 30, 2021 8:38 PM |
I just want to add that, in my experience, the European airlines still do First Class the correct way. It is truly a first class experience. For Airlines here in the US, first class is a better experience than steerage but it gets nowhere near the experience of European first class.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 30, 2021 8:41 PM |
Try not to act like a total jackass
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 30, 2021 8:43 PM |
Domestic US first class today is just a larger seat and free drinks in a plastic cup.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 30, 2021 8:46 PM |
Don't forget to tip the flight attendant
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 30, 2021 8:46 PM |
Just enjoy. Have a great trip OP.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 30, 2021 8:47 PM |
Did the airline force you to fly first class since it would take three economy seats to accommodate your fat ass anyway, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 30, 2021 8:47 PM |
R32 Not all first class lounges are the same.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 30, 2021 8:48 PM |
New wealth, so very common! 😩
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 30, 2021 8:49 PM |
It’s so exciting! The people are so interesting!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 30, 2021 8:53 PM |
Emirates Airline? What the hell? You think DLers are arms dealers doing business in the Middle East?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 30, 2021 8:54 PM |
East Asian airlines are the best! They always maintain high standards and treat you respectfully. Korean, ANA, Singapore, Cathay, and Eva are all great.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 30, 2021 8:56 PM |
Maybe stick to Spirit, R43.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 30, 2021 8:57 PM |
R43 they use their arms to keep themselves planted while being impaled by sultans. Oh the life of disgraced former politician wunderkind.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 30, 2021 8:58 PM |
Definitely make an innuendo-laden joke about the warm nuts. Your flight attendant will be floored by your wit, tact and sheer originality. They don’t call it first "class" fer nothin'.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 30, 2021 9:01 PM |
I've flown economy on Air France and Cathay Pacific. For economy, very nice. I would guess that business or first class would be really nice.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 30, 2021 9:15 PM |
OP, to press the call button for the stewardess is considered gauche. A mere snapping of the fingers should suffice.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | October 30, 2021 9:15 PM |
Domestic First Class in late August was still pretty meager. An early morning flight listed meals included, but instead old snack boxes were passed out containing packets of olives, smoked cheese, a slim Jim, gummy bears and two tic tac breath mints in a plastic sleeve. No hot beverages. I would have liked a coffee on board at 5:30AM but they didn’t serve it « out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our passengers ». It still feels like services are stripped down and understaffed. The airfare? $2,300. Straight ripoff. Maybe it’s getting better, but the airfares still seem really high.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | October 30, 2021 9:28 PM |
No coffee?
Now y’all know why I went off.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | October 30, 2021 9:37 PM |
[quote]It's nearly impossible to go back to economy once you've popped your cherry.
That is so true.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | October 30, 2021 10:31 PM |
OP, be nice to the FA's and they will be nice to you.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | October 30, 2021 11:38 PM |
thanks for the advice y'all.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | October 31, 2021 4:17 AM |
Present hole
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 31, 2021 4:23 AM |
don't get so drunk in the free booze that you leave your iPad mini behind
sigh.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 31, 2021 4:31 AM |
R57 I think I'll just take a nap.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 31, 2021 4:32 AM |
smart man.
I was so dumb to have done that; it was bought with points but still. upgraded when I replaced it.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | October 31, 2021 4:45 AM |
The first time I flew first class I forgot that the flight attendant had hung my coat up for me and I debarked without it. I really, really miss that coat. Hang onto your stuff or remember who stowed it!
Also, I found that it set a bad precedent for me. I don’t want to return to economy flying at all now. Not that it even felt particularly luxurious. It just felt like it SHOULD feel. Being given a whole soft drink can, rather than just a small plastic cup, along with having some elbow room doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that should be particularly expensive but once you’ve been comfortable and treated courteously who wants to surrender the privilege.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 31, 2021 4:54 AM |
Cigars and pipes are OK in First Class, OP. So feel free to light up!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 31, 2021 4:55 AM |
R60 I have an economy flight in just a few months... ugh it's gonna suck now. But it's a short flight and not worth paying extra for.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 31, 2021 4:58 AM |
Smack the stewardess on the ass and say, “Hey toots, bring me a drink.”
They love that!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | October 31, 2021 4:58 AM |
ew why would i touch a girl? girls have cooties.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | October 31, 2021 5:00 AM |
[quote] ew why would i touch a girl? girls have cooties.
Because you’re not going to get a drink otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 31, 2021 5:04 AM |
[quote]there is a certain pleasure in catching the eye of the people who have to wander past on their way to whatever's back there. Violence, I guess. And Youtube infamy.
I once worked with this girl who used to tell us how she enjoyed sideswiping passengers in first class with her carry-ons as she made her way back to cattle class just to try and knock them down a peg. She was a total cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | October 31, 2021 5:12 AM |
Sounds like that girl has issues R66.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | October 31, 2021 5:42 AM |
I've left things on planes and had them returned
Okay twice, and both times I realized it before I left the airport. They were able to get them for me while I waited.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | October 31, 2021 11:12 AM |
Choose the chocolate syrup on your sundae…and that’s all you’ll get
by Anonymous | reply 69 | October 31, 2021 12:03 PM |
American first class has become so utterly pathetic
by Anonymous | reply 70 | October 31, 2021 12:04 PM |
They serve cookies in there!!
by Anonymous | reply 71 | October 31, 2021 12:04 PM |
It's still a germy, miserable experience in first. The benefit is getting in/out and not being subjected to god awful screaming brats and people that try to talk to you. And the cookies.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | October 31, 2021 12:07 PM |
R66- That's psychopathic behavior. She BRAGGED about that? I bet she was ugly.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | October 31, 2021 12:07 PM |
The lack of detail from OP leads me to suspect she is flying first class from Tampa to Charlotte.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | October 31, 2021 12:23 PM |
[quote] They serve cookies in there!!
And we can count on DLers to smell them first!
by Anonymous | reply 75 | October 31, 2021 12:28 PM |
Set your expectations low. First class has been stripped down with Covid as an excuse. No pre-departure bevs, plastic cups, meals (if any) covered and served on one tray. They could not care less about how you are dressed or how much you drink as long as you don’t act drunk.
Every airline’s website has an inflight section that shows what to expect and any covid adjustments.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 31, 2021 12:58 PM |
[quote]I debarked without it.
Oh Dear! You might want to visit a veterinarian about that.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 31, 2021 2:59 PM |
You really should refer to yourself in the third person as Ms. May.
" Ms May will have a martini - filthy- and a bag of cheesy poofs."
by Anonymous | reply 78 | October 31, 2021 3:50 PM |
R66, you bitch friend is the reason I only fly where 1st Class is off to the left when you walk in; cattle goes immediately to the right.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 31, 2021 8:31 PM |
Calm down, everybody. R66 is talking about Julie.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | October 31, 2021 8:34 PM |
There's something other than first class?
by Anonymous | reply 81 | November 1, 2021 4:38 PM |
OP, in First Class there's a special gloryhole that connects to the cockpit.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | November 5, 2021 5:45 PM |
Finding the 1st class lounge can be as difficult as finding the Holy Grail.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | November 5, 2021 5:59 PM |
It's funny to see all the madeup bullshit Defacto posted anonymously before he was red tagged.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | November 5, 2021 6:26 PM |
Usually next door to The Cock Pit.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | November 5, 2021 6:28 PM |
r85, it's especially hilarious in r13, when he refers to someone else as "riff raff."
by Anonymous | reply 87 | November 5, 2021 6:32 PM |
The champagne will be flowing, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | November 5, 2021 6:56 PM |
If the coffee isn’t hot enough…well, you know what to do
by Anonymous | reply 89 | November 5, 2021 7:39 PM |
