Illinois Democrats in the state legislature made his decision for him by nuking his congressional district this week.

Somebody got threatened with an outing. The Trumpanzees are really getting nervous about 1/6, now that it's come out that many of them were in on the planning.

On the plus side, now he has more time to bond with his old buddy.

R1, I actually don't think he's that cute - not even for a politician (and we know that is a low bar).

He is only 5' 9." And you can see the stress showing in his face in dealing with his crazy constituency. Also he is getting really gray really fast.

He kind of took over as the GOP pretty boy twink after Aaron Schock left, but his journey to Daddy seems a bit uneven.

It would actually not surprise me if he took a couple of years off from the public gaze, thought seriously about all the issues, and returned as a moderate Democrat.

I believe he is already slowly understanding the wrongs of his previously thinking but can't suddenly announce all that now. And I also think when he returns to public life he'll look a whole hell of a lot better having eliminated the stress for awhile.

I have no issue with DL referring to him as a bottom.

Former President Trump gloated Friday after Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) announced he will not seek reelection in 2022, a decision that made him the latest House GOP critic of Trump's to make plans to exit Congress.

“2 down, 8 to go!” Trump said in a brief statement through his leadership PAC, Save America.

Kinzinger is the second House Republican who voted earlier this year to impeach Trump to announce retirement plans.

Rep. Anthony Gonzalez (R-Ohio), who also broke party lines in the impeachment vote, said last month that he wouldn’t seek reelection.

Had he decided to run for reelection, Gonzalez would have faced a challenging primary against a Trump-backed candidate.

In all, 10 House Republicans voted in January to impeach Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Since then, each has drawn the ire of the former president, who has vowed to campaign against his detractors within the GOP next year.

Despite the strong headwinds Kinzinger faced within his own party, however, there were other forces at play in his decision to retire. Illinois lawmakers on Thursday night approved a new congressional map that did away with his Republican-majority district.

Under the new map, Kinzinger would have been lumped into the same district as Rep. Darin LaHood (R). Had he run for reelection, Kinzinger would have likely faced a bruising primary brawl against a reliable ally of Trump's.

When asked by host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” if his retirement announcement handed Trump a win, Kinzinger said it “potentially” did, before criticizing Republicans who have “put their head in the sand.”

“It’s not really handing a win as much to Donald Trump as it is to the cancerous kind of lie and conspiracy not just wing anymore, but mainstream argument of the Republican Party,” Kinzinger said.

“This is not on the 10 of us that voted to impeach, it’s not on Liz Cheney and I to save the Republican Party. It’s on 190 Republicans who haven’t said a damn word about it, and they put their head in the sand and hope somebody else comes along and does something,” he added.

For all we mock Miss Lindz for (and it's all well-deserved), she was ominously prescient when she said on Fox News earlier this year that any Republican that isn't supportive of putting Trump back into the White House would be drummed out of the party.
