Performers you remember in your local club/bar scene

Several comments in the Songs That Remind You Of Your Club/Bar thread made me want to start this thread.

Most bars and clubs had their host MCs, performers, queens or DJs. Some sang, some just lip synched, and some were just damn good storytellers and shit stirrers!

Would love to hear about yours - please let us know what bar, the general time frame, and share your memories here!

The way she would announce queens cracked me up. She's still alive! And retired!

Speaking of Pittsburgh, miss Christina Auguilera at Pegasus back in the late 90's. I had no idea who she was at the time, lol.

A drag queen at Mickeys or Trunks (or both, the memory’s hazy) got ahold of the “vocals only” track (the isolated track from the recording, with no instrumentation) of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and would frequently lip sync to just the raw voice.

One of the few times I’ve seen drag as an art form, instead of just entertainment.

I was at Splash in NYC while Julio Iglesias, Jr. performed. Probably the late 90s.

Hedda Lettuce and Lady Bunny and Murray Hill seemed to be everywhere back then, hosting all sorts of nights at all sorts of gay drinkeries.

Sylvia Sidney, drag queen from Boston. One of the filthiest mouths on her, I saw her as a young gayling. She had lost a few toes to diabetes “but her pumps fit better!”

Donna Day was a Dallas queen who often performed without her dentures.
