He very well could've thrown Aldrich out of a window, and we ALL know that's usually how these situations end. Not sure why it's so hard to believe that Beach--probably not as smart as the average bear--saw an opportunity but regretted it afterward. And it could have nothing to do with gay panic.

This doesn't mean that Aldrich ISN'T a piece of shit and that it WASN'T sex assault and that Beach ISN'T a victim. ALL of those things are applicable here but let's not pretend like this is the typical power dynamic that we see in these cases.

1. Victims often testify that their bodies freeze. That's called shock. If you listen to Beach in the interview or read the report, it is clear he was experiencing shock.

2. Doesn't matter whether he got an erection or not. Getting an erection doesn't mean you're enjoying it or wanted it.

3. Aldrich had power over Beach. He threatened him -- physically with a bat. And Aldrich threatened his career. Beach was twenty years old at the time.

Stop blaming the victim.

This has disturbing similarities to the Rolling Stone case. The accuser's original story, told to a friend, was that she went to a frat party and blew a couple of guys who asked, but she didn't like it and it traumatized her. I could find no other account of threats/violence or drugging allegations-although I didn't read everything.

Obviously shouldn't be in any coaching position, or ever employed by a HS/college. That still doesn't make this incident sexual assault.

However, the NHL has a vested interest in treating it as a sexual assault. If it's that, they claim a one off and they can fire the execs (who should've been fired regardless for not investigating it), make some woke noises re: culture change, and move on. If it's regret, not rape, the harassment is the focus. The LGBT angle makes it awkward, since they know gay players won't talk either way.
