I would love to - if I could get enough financial backing to do the type of story I'd want. It would need sets, lighting, camerawork, costuming elements and a soundtrack at a professional level.

R2 - it wouldn't have much of a story - just a context for the visuals. A penal colony (based somewhat on the Kafka short story) where guards are impeccably dressed and the prisoners are all nude and kept bound and continually aroused. I'd base it off Japanese rope bondage art and "neo-classical" bodybuilder 1940s images and stage it almost as a series of erotic tableaux vivants.
With professional photography and lighting and a moody, threatening score, I think it would be infinitely superior to the "shuck-em-off and-bang-away" bullshit that passes for 98% of porn.

My complaint with gay porn is not plot but camera angles. Even mediocre performances can be heightened by just the right camera angles. And with boring angles and direction, even hot as fuck performers can't do much.

R9, totally agree. And while there are some studios such as Bel Ami where the casual approach is front and center (by which I mean the guys hanging out, undressing, joking, a lot of behind-the-scenes scenes) and works for the films, I tend to prefer an approach more akin to that of Kristen Bjorn, whose aesthetic comes closest to what I would be going for.
