He became a non ticket selling movie star in the 90s. His movies rented and sold very well on VHS and were largely genre movies at lower budgets. He was willing to do paycheck movies that every other actor had turned down.

He created a very unique "I'm game for anything" enthusiastic but still playing it straight comedic persona at some point in late 90s that served him well in many projects including 30 Rock, which also kept his profile very high in the entertainment industry, leading to constant work while on hiatus.

Billy was the best-looking 9with Alec a close second). Alec was the only one who had gifts as a performer: he's a very funny comic actor. He's never done well in the films where he's supposed to be in a serious part.

Alec is, without a single doubt, the most charismatic and talented. Not to mention that he is one of the best looking actors ever. Also, unlike the rest of his brothers, he has never had extremely serious addiction problems or descended into total insanity. Also, he did some serious films that allowed him to consolidate his reputation as a good actor, and showed his willingness to do anything, as R11 has very aptly mentioned.

Billy and Daniel were gorgeous, but the former is a wooden mannequin who was only ever good for eye candy parts that required minimal acting, and the second is a total mess whose addictions ruined his career (after Alec, he is indubitably the most talented). Stephen is the lesser of the brothers in every single aspect, and is also madder than a hatter.

As the only somewhat stable brother who had looks, talent and charisma in equal measure, it's only normal that he would be the one to enjoy the most successful and longer career.

I would argue that Alec's roles in each of these movies had a large comic quality, esp. Glengarry (Coffee is for closers). Also, The Departed, good role for Alec, but comical.

He disappeared and came back as a fat funny guy. And then I think “30 Rock” was after but I feel like he stayed away from dramatic roles for a long time.

I think he is a hilarious comedic actor. Even if he's a total mess personally. He has a true talent.

Stephen gets to live off his wealthy son-in-law now. I can't wait until Stephen and Papa Bieber fight over money.

It's certainly not because he's the nicest. We all know he's a raging asshole, but I know a guy who worked on "Concussion", who said Will Smith couldn't have been nicer, and that Luke Wilson was just as nice and frequently ate lunch with the crew...but that *SUPRISE!* Alec Baldwin was an utter fucking asshole piece of shit human being to everyone.

I'd like to think Billy is nicer.
