Michael Keaton on 60 Minutes

He doesn’t have much to say, does he?

by Anonymousreply 23April 8, 2022 12:19 PM

OP, just watched... perhaps it's unfair to judge someone from one interview, but he seems like he might be kind of unpleasant in real life. I think he's an excellent actor, but, I got the sense that he might be someone that is quick to anger. And he certainly has a healthy ego. Did you get this vibe as well?

Would be surprised if he's a libertarian.

by Anonymousreply 1October 25, 2021 6:53 AM

I didn't even recognize him!

by Anonymousreply 2October 25, 2021 6:58 AM

Not like it would ever happen, but I judge people by asking the question, would I want this person as a friend. Michael Keaton is a no. I'd politely tolerate him as a coworker, but I'd avoid the breakroom if I knew he was in there.

I don’t think he’s a libertarian. Climate change is important to him and I don’t know too many libertarians/republicans that care about the climate.

Could have used more of those Minutes on the Colorado River.

They didn't touch on his personal life except for showing a brief shot of his son.

by Anonymousreply 7October 27, 2021 5:39 PM

According to Wikipedia he endorsed both Clinton and Biden in their presidential races.

by Anonymousreply 8October 27, 2021 5:40 PM

He's a terrible actor in my opinion. "Jackie Brown" might have been a perfect film without him.

by Anonymousreply 9October 27, 2021 5:57 PM

I’d do him.

by Anonymousreply 10October 27, 2021 6:00 PM

R9. Actually I think he’s quite underrated and has much more range than he is credited with.

by Anonymousreply 11October 27, 2021 6:35 PM

Have they run out of real stories?

by Anonymousreply 12October 27, 2021 6:38 PM

Why was he on 60 Minutes? That sounds more like the E news channel. Did he do something newsworthy recently or do they usually have stories about actors just because they are actors?

by Anonymousreply 13October 27, 2021 7:26 PM

He’s starring in the HULU series Dopesick and he’s quite good.

by Anonymousreply 14October 27, 2021 7:34 PM

R13. Keaton has two movies coming out in 2022 including "The Flash" where he appears as Bruce Wayne/Batman, a reprise of his "Batman" and "Batman Returns" roles in which he starred 33 years and 30 years ago, respectively.

Listened to him on the Conan Needs a Friend podcast and it was the first time I liked him but I think that's because Conan kind of forces people to "play."

He made Jake Tapper sound like a fun guy. (Then again they are real life friends.)

I was bored

by Anonymousreply 17October 27, 2021 7:50 PM

Anytime someone is favored to win and Oscar and doesn't, it usually matches up with them being unpleasant to crew. Being unpleasant can also extend to refusing to interact, learn names etc. Some actors are mature enough to recognize part of their job is being a politician, smiling, learning co-workers names, occasionally taking a selfie with a fan, or even spending some time creating relationships with mid level studio executives.

Eddie Murphy, Michael Keaton, Burt Reynolds, Lauren Bacall, Bill Murray, and Stallone are good examples. Says zero about their talent. Just their personalities when it comes to being generous with their time, smiles, and eye contact.

Is the opioid series worth torrenting?

by Anonymousreply 19October 27, 2021 11:45 PM

I’ve always loved Michael Keaton and he’s about the only 70 year old I’d be attracted to.

by Anonymousreply 20March 10, 2022 4:32 AM

He is tremendous, and yet doesn't carry himself that way. All actors have a big well of narcissism, or they wouldn't be doing that job.

He can play literally anything. Working Joe/every man, villain, comedian, narcissistic conman, kind helpmeet...

The only thing I think he's never gone for is hardcore romance or period pieces. Probably he could do them, but be bored doing them. And now he's too old to do the romance bit.

He always brings an interesting and thoughtful edge to whatever he is in. Even those stupid clunker thrillers they all do to pay bills and keep their hands in.

I think he may have even played a very subtle gay role (that's how I read it) in The Merry Gentleman.

One of the few who could more than hold their own doing SNL, although that show has been a bore for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 21March 10, 2022 4:45 AM

He's very charismatic and funny at his old age, looks and sounds pretty youthful. The fact he's Beetlejuice, he gets a pass from me.

by Anonymousreply 22April 7, 2022 6:55 PM

He’s no Hugh Jackman!
